There are few times in this video I fudge my words. I was quite tired. Towards the beginning I say plug-in when I meant program and I also say timing control when I mean timing correct. It’s only little details and I think you’ll get what I mean but I should have been more thorough when I previewed the video. Sorry for any confusion. My bad 🙂
We appreciate you bro. This is my fav video on MPC and 3.0 period. I jus got my first MPC wich is the Key 37 and i wanna thank you for this, very helpful
Just picked up a used One+ yesterday and figured I would start out with 3.0. This is easily the best rundown I've seen man, very helpful. No BS, but also not assuming every viewer is a seasoned 2.0 user.
As someone who got a Key 37 about 2 weeks ago, 3.0 is way more user friendly than the legacy workflow/UI. I think the learning curve is way less for new users like me, now that it’s far more visual. Awesome video mate. Big up. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Thank you for answering my huge question about renaming Sequences at 7:37 ! That was driving me crazy! Thought maybe they removed the ability to rename Sequences!
Terrific introduction to the new software. Good to see some useful, honest and straight up conversation. Looking forward to any further content you upload, thanks, will keep watching
Thank you for the overview. I’m with you, I like working with sequences and track mutes, but arranger seems cool if they build out. Subscribed for more MPC content. Cheers
Also for that sample clicking or popping you can go to sample edit, press shift and from the bottom of the screen enable 0 snap, that'll snap the sample start to always be as close as possible to the 0 point crossing.
I for one, am very VERY excited about 3.0, and I feel like I have a brand new piece of gear lol. Love how you broke everything down, from long pressing to change the title of the track, to removing the stock sound setup through the Preferences screen. Very well done my friend! Peace to the Union!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Yo. Been using MPCs since the 2500, so used to the old workflo. Just updated my Live to 3.4 and was initially lost. Thanks to your clear explanation and great video walkthrough, I now have a better idea whats going on. Big up You! Liked & Subscribed
I think people are using the arranger wrong. While you can use to build a full song, you CAN still build each sequence individually in the arranger. It's basically the same as the old way, but more visual/easier. You need to go to the top and pull down hidden menu and tap on "Sequence" in order to switch to another sequence.
Im excited but a little apprehensive. I do half my stuff in controller mode so I'll think I'll wait until they update the software too. Thanks for the overview!
The way I have always worked, I load several drum programs, then browse through them on a selected track to choose which ones I actually want, and now that's not possible which is just strange, but maybe I'll get used to it. Seems like an odd thing for Akai to do though.
@@ndujamz tricky question. The MPC is great if you want to be completely away from the computer but I have a Push 2 and honestly it does a lot that the MPC can do. You can export as an Ableton project from the MPC so handy for finishing tacks. I love my MPC but I don’t think it offers much over using Ableton. It’s always nice to have choice though.
My Key 37 will be here in a couple of days. I'm installing version 3 right away. I been using midi controllers and DAWS. Never had an MPC so I won't notice a difference.
It's a DAWBOX and it isn't difficult at all to get used to. I've used if for a couple of days now. It's almost as second nature as 2.0. And in the end, it makes more sense than 2.0.
WHAT!!!? They took out Clip programs? Why the hell did they do that? Looping samples of varying lengths continuously was made easy by Clip programs. Hopefully they'll reinstate them. Otherwise, this is a deal breaker for me.
Truthfully speaking the traditional workflow on the MPC works for MANY, 3.0 is cool , but I wish Akai stop trying to slowly turn the MPC into a Force !
Mpc 3.0 is way more tedious and confusing than 2.0. Sure it looks better, and I’ll probably get used to it, but it’s slowing my workflow for sure. Arranger mode is not what I thought it was. It’s nothing like a daw.
Am I the only one who doesn’t understand why people keep saying having tracks and programs “separate” was confusing to “new” users??? I only bought my MPC 2 years ago and the main screen and its three sections were the easiest part to understand lol 😂
@@FazersOnStun you’re probably in the minority but once I got my head around it, I never looked back. Unfortunately these days I don’t think people want to take time to learn, they just want results fast and Akai are trying to cater for that. If 3.0 didn’t exist I’d be perfectly happy with the old workflow.

Right, the arranger is just a linear view of a single sequence. It's not for actually arranging a song.
You can create midi tracks and aim them at any track or pad you would like
