at first I thought the J1 program requires the teacher to be currently employed to be eligible. So okay po pala na naka resign na before processing the visa as long as i understand the risk that if my visa gets disapproved, then I have no work anymore.
Don't resign until you get your Visa... I applied in Saudi Arabia not as a Teacher in 2006 and left my job at DepEd as a Teacher. My leave only lasted for 3 months. And then I just sent a letter notarized that I am rendering my Resignation.

When the school or agency in the U.S. gives you a form to fill out...you need to state your Supervisor/Principal's Name. Is it wise to put the Name of your Principal and Mobile Number while you are just on the first stage of applying? Because co Teachers will definitely know that you are applying abroad. Principal's are not the same. Some are understanding, some are not.
This is one of the risks when you are applying for a job. It is needed to put the info of your principal. You will also have to attach a recommendation letter from your principal before you can submit your application so it is important that your principal is aware of your plans.
