- This is a composition of Muddusvami Dikshitar (1775-1835) in the raga Gamakakriya set to Adi Tala rendered by G Ravi Kiran, Rithvik Raja and Vignesh Ishvar.
On Tula Krishna Caturdasi (Dipavali), It is believed that Dikshitar asked his disciples to render this Kriti and shed his mortal coils while they sang the lines ‘mIna lOcani pASa mOcani’. This is a rendition of this kriti as per the notation in the Sangita Sampradaya Pradarsini of Subbarama Dikshitar.
Sound Design, Visuals and editing by Rithvik Raja, Music Recorded at Sahrdaya Sound Studio and mixed by Rakesh Pazhadam.

Marvellous. I was to learn this Kriti but my guru unfortunately passed away. Your rendition is superb. May Goddess Meenakshi bless all of you.
I had to unlearn and un-listen(for the lack of a better word) this song while listening to this version. It just shows the huge degree of change the composition went through over times. Really grateful to you for bringing out the original version.
1Thank you, Pradyumna Kanthamraju!
What's the difference between poorvi kalyani and gamakakriya?
@@ak538 It deserves a slightly broader explanation. Gamakakriya, as defined in the Sangita Sampradaya Pradarsini, is also called Purvi Kalyani. Some characteristic phrases of Gamakakriya as seen in the Pradarsini are P D S, R G P M G, R G D M G, etc.
So soothing!
Excellent and perfect redention
despite familiarity with this great composition in poorvikalyani, the same faithfully rendered in gamakakriya is so so engrossing and has been offered in such an engaging manner. thanks from the bottom of my heart for this. find this very moving
Amazing!!! I went in to trance while listening these beautiful rendition by all three of you.... Goddess Meenakshi bless you...
I'm the least spiritual person I know. But I can't be unmoved by this piece of music. It made a happy place for me and I can now visit it whenever I want. You guys are so great, life changing. Thank you!
Beautiful! Just beautiful! Loved it. Please collaborate more to bring out these hidden gems and older versions which are not heard today. I believe even Vatapi Gamapatim sounds so.different when sung as per SSP notion. Do consider releasing a video of that too.

Such a majestic rendition of an equally majestic composition.
Dikshita at his divine best. The most authentic rendition from the subbarama dikshita school which is authentic!
This is one of my all time favourite krithis and so had enjoyed multiple versions in the past, but this version tops them all, so will remain top of my playlist for a long long time ! Namaskarams to you all and your gurus and I just made a humble contribution to the dikshitar collective !
Meditative, enchanting and exporting us all to a divine space. Gives a whole new perception of the krithi! Beauty of Gamakakriya just fills peace in the mind and soul. Thank you so much for bringing out this 😇 Highly grateful 🙏

கச்சிதமாக இருந்தது
Wonderful rendition
Adhering to the notation in the Sangita Sampradaya Pradarshini by Subbarama Dikshitar. Gamakriya is different from Poorvikalyani. The prayoga of PDS in the arohana is a distinct stamp and Muthuswami Dikshitar has shown it in the caranam line at Sundaresapriye. The whole pace is languid and unhurried
Subbarama Dikshitar says that Gamakakriya is also called Poorvikalyani. But yes, we can say that the old Gamakakriya is different from modern Poorvikalyani. PDPS is a common phrase in both, but PDS is specific to Gamakakriya. Gamakakriya also has PDDPS. However, MDS, which is a phrase of modern Poorvikalyani, is absent in Gamakakriya.
This is really a beautiful rendition of Meenakshi Me Mudam Dehi, I agree!
Beautiful..such a divine rendition.... listening to this On a loop... So much bhakthi..brings tears to the listener's eyes
Absolute bliss. Thank you so much!

Amazing rendition.
Request you to put out a video highlighting the exact differences between the poorvikalyani and gamakakriya version. That would be a hugeee learning experience!
What's the difference between poorvi kalyani and gamakakriya?
@@ak538 Gamakakriya is the Janaka raga and this song is originally in gamakakriya as per the SSP. Poorvikalyani is the janya of gamakakriya (or known as gamanshrama also). Meenakshi memudam is now being sung in poorvikalyani. But as per the SSP, Dikshitar is said to have composed in Gamakakriya.
@@aravindsudarshan2705 thank you! A line in the last charaNa makes sense now, "VeeNa gaana dasha gamakakriye"
@@aravindsudarshan2705 Interestingly, Subbarama Dikshitar mentions that Gamakakriya is also known as Purvi Kalyani - so it is possible that Purvi Kalyani has also undergone changes into what is in practice today.
