Replace integrated 12v pressure switch with ~ howididit ~

Hello there, how are ya? Welcome to ~ howididit ~ I was very frustrated at the failure rate of the integrated 12v pressure switch on all 12v water pumps, and after the failure of the independent pressure switch I purchased, I had a "ah ha moment", went to the bigbox store and purchased a 40/60psi 110/220v pressure switch, tweaked the pressure settings to a 30/50psi and wired 12v as my power source, and it is working like a charm!

Awesome idea. The switch is basically a mechanic one so those switches can work with any voltage ac or dc.

I like this setup. Tired of swapping the switch every 4 months. Found this switch at Home Depot: Everbilt 40/60 Pressure Switch for Well Pumps.

I can feel your pain. I haven't had an issue since swapping the old pressure switch out for the off the shelf model.

So you mean the ac pressure switch can work on dc voltage, I have small creak with cistern to collect water,it produces 3litres a minute, I want to install 400w panel with dc solar pump but i want to shut the pump off when overhead tank 200metres up the hill is full, I'll try this method,maybe reduce the pressure switch to 15/30

Did you disconnect the connection /wire to the built in pressure switch?

Yes I did, I actually just cut them. Then wired the motor wires directly to the new pressure switch

What 12 volt pump us good to create at least20 lb pressure
