I had a 97 viper acr that same color that I had bought from the original owner in 2007 with 2,400 miles on it and but hit in an hit and run 3 years ago to this day and was totaled with only 70,000 miles on it
For the headlights you could wet sand the paint off go up to a fine grit and cover it with PPF. I did this on a pair of mine and it has been holding and and still looks new and it's been four years since I did it.
I will never forget when I was 9 years old and I saw my first 1992 Viper RT/10 at Rothrock Dodge in Allentown, PA. It was bright red and I went nuts on it. Then, when I was about 19 I got the chance to drive a 3rd gen Viper while I owned a commercial cleaning company and had a contract for a local Dodge dealership and they let me take it for a spin. I also got a chance to drice a Ram SRT-10 from a different dealership. It was red, with a six speed manual, and it was their first Viper powered Ram. I pulled up in a Ford Festiva (I had four different cars back then and the Festiva was the most reliable), and as soon as I stopped the salesman saw me and said dude, I know you want to drive this Ram! That was an awesome time, and I could tell that salesman just wanted to kill his boredom, but couldn't justify driving it himself. Also, when I was 17 and I lived in Florida, I was going through chemotherapy with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and I met a guy who owned a nightclub in Ybor City in downtown Tampa, and he was so cool that he let me drive his 1998 Viper GTS. He also let me ride his brand new Ducati 1200RR while he chased me on his Kawaksaki Ninja.
My dad passed away in 2019 before I could make anything of my self. I’m so sad I can’t do anything like this for him, but very nice video brought a tear to my eye.
I'm there with you. Lost my dad long ago in 2008. Was really struggling in my life and I wish he had been around to see me (finally) figure things out. He taught me all I knew about cars but I was never able to afford anything nice back then, and I could never do anything for him. Time heals wounds but some things stick with you forever.
I lost my dad to cancer in 2008. In 2006 I was fresh out of school and he was diagnosed. I was working my first real job and loaned him all I had saved up (5k) to put down on a 03 Z06 for him to drive until he passed, he was a huge corvette fan but had not owned one yet. He joined the corvette club, had a blast, met his future wife and they were married a year before he passed. That car changed the last 2yrs of his life for the better. As soon as I could afford it a couple years later I bought and still daily drive a 02 Z06 now because of him.
😢 the last car my dad drove was a Orange Lincoln Navigator he bought for me for 1k. He had so much fun in that goofy truck. He said with giant smile "it's the first Lincoln I have ever driven "
This is the most touching video I have seen on TH-cam. What a dear young woman you are. I'm 67 and a pretty tough old feller...don't get moved to tears but once every couple of years. This video did it...thank you and dang! you at the same time.
As a father that's close to their daughter, I know your dad likes the car, But the words you used to describe your feelings & thoughts towards him are beyond words for him
Oh no, what a small world 😂. That’s my local Walmart and I know that because I seen someone who looked exactly like you in the store and I’m like “nah, can’t be, why hear this time of year?” I knew this channel was from down south, so I immediately dismissed it. Then when I was leaving I seen the viper and thought “awesome a freaking GTS in the middle of winter!” I came here today to check for new content, had the grandest realization. 😂
Love this!! I lost my step-dad earlier this year from cancer . He was my dad since I was around 8 or 9 (currently 54) . He was the greatest and I miss him so much!! I'm so happy you have James . Cherish the time!!
Well done, Caroline. It was a wonderful surprise for a wonderful dad. At least your gasoline prices are reasonable. Here in Christchurch NZ, we pay around $13.00 a gallon, and Premium is around $3.20 a liter (quart). I wish you and James many miles and smiles, and truly hope he achieves his goal of another 100,000 miles before his time is up (as he put it).
You know the American gallon is smaller! Only 3.6ltr equals one American gallon. In New Zealand we use the metrics of approximately 4.5ltr equals one gallon. Maybe like the difference of one ton vs one tonne
THIS. WAS. SO. EPIC! Nearly 2000 miles on a road trip in a basically untested car, and one of the greatest American sports/muscle cars ever made, all to get the truly priceless reaction from James, and get to fulfill one of his lifetime dreams, and top it all off with keeping it a surprise the whole time, absolutely amazing!
I lost my Dad in June, you are the smartest girl in the world to understand the heart wants what it wants, and giving that dream to someone you love will be a memory that will sneak up on you forever. You will forever smile when this reverie dances in your mind.
This was my first view from your channel. I want to thank you. From the entertainment, to the great story, to the emotions shown, and experienced during the video. Well done young lady.
Honestly, I almost didn't click on this video because so many car channels with girls is just them being in tight clothes, showing off their ass, flirting in the camera etc. But you are just a down to earth chick, who has respect for herself and is just genuinely making videos. And the love you have for your dad is beautiful. The message of this video is very inspiring and I wish you all the best. I pray the good fortune comes your families way. God Bless
Not only were you driving it on icey roads, and 2k miles home, but you were driving the most infamous death trap Dodge ever made. The Viper is my dream car, but that doesn't diminish the fact that it was famous for being wildly unpredictable. The ass end would break loose on dry roads, no problem. I can't imagine driving it in the dead of winter.

It's amazing how he was so heartfelt over it, he didn't care at all it needed work. That's a real father, he appreciated the fact you put him first and did that for him. I've subscribed, im definitely a fan now. Ty for this video
Fabulous little documentary here! Exactly what I needed to see today ❤ While this Viper is clapped out, there’s something super charming about one that’s actually been used. I would make sure it was 100% mechanically, and proudly keep this forever.
James, I know you know what an incredible young women your daughter is! I have 2 daughters that I love with all of my heart and could only hope some day to have 50% of the close relationship you have with your daughter. I had this kind of relationship with my daughters until I went through a terrible divorce when they where 10 and 12, now they are 28 and 30. It has gotten better over the years but it should be much much better. What you have sir is worth more than all the riches in the world!
What an amazing video and touching one too!! Caroline and Alex, you guys are beyond rock stars amd Caroline, you are such a wonderful daughter ❤🙏 and I'm glad I got to see you on the way back!!! Love you guys a lot and James, I hope you have great times with the Viper and playing Bad Attitude while driving!! 😎🤣❤😊
You mean the Mustang II wasn't your dream car! Honestly, I'm very happy for you brother. Knowing where you came from and how hard You've worked in your life. You deserve it. That Caroline child you have is an A+++ of a human being. She is all heart. God bless you guys!
I just bought a used ride with 27k miles on it. Transferred my Full-Coverage from my Fiat 500 Pop which though was only cosmetic damage was totaled by the insurance company. (Still have it and will fix it up myself) However, my 1st question to the rep was does full coverage insurance cover the listed driver under liability for any unlisted car, Yes. So I dropped the fiat since it only qualifies for liability at this point. I say this because yes a person can drive provided the driver is insured regardless of which car was pulled over. - I drove 6 hours one way to see the most recent solar eclipse and was shocked at the toll that takes on the human body. So what you’re saying about hurting isn’t a shock. You’re a real soldier. - 😂(tears of joy) I love this video! His response was worth the watch…
Man I teared up bad when he was trying not to cry when you gave it to him. It touched me so much because I bought my dream car, 69 Camaro years back, I had purchased sight unseen and shipped it all the way from California to Canada , it was rough but a runner and I didn’t care how it looked I was so happy, but had it for a year and suffered a horrific back injury at work. Bills were stacking up and I couldn’t work on it anymore in my condition, so I had to sell it to keep us afloat. I never hurt so bad watching it drive away with someone else, months later my daughter said to me…. If I ever could Papa, I’d buy your Camaro back for you. Just her saying that to me was one of my best memories, she knew how hard it was for me to sell it. I still hope and wish that someday I run across it again and am in the position to buy her back. ❤️
Great video, I remember this car floating around online. I bought my GTS back in October of '22. I drove mine with one of my best friends from Wisconsin to AL, about 13.5 hours in one go. It probably will be the greatest achievements of my life and this adventure greatly reminded me of my own. Since then I've road tripped the car 2 other times and it always induces a certain feeling driving these cars obscene distances. Thank you for this video.
Making memories, your video brings back so many memories for me and my dad, he was my best friend, we did so much together, he taught me so much, he was only 49, I lost him right before I turned 18, I’m now 52, it seems like it was yesterday, great video, I’m sure he’ll love the car, the surprise and the memory you have created!👍🇺🇸
First of all great video. You getting to do that for your dad is awesome. I bought a Cuda because my wife's dad loved mopar. But he wound up passing to cancer and never got to ride in the car because life got in the way and i waited to late. Now my father has passed and i still only worked my butt off for my family. Now everything fell apart and my time has passed for doing something for my dad. I'm glad you got to enjoy this moment with your dad.
Yeah that’s the best part! Seeing a loved one smile is worth the road trip to get the distressed Viper, and will provide time to spend together restoring it.
Changing/buying tires and windshield wipers that are primarily found at the dealership, you have my respect!! Changing bulbs? Rockstar! If you ever have questions, find your nearest Viper Region and you'll get tons of support. Congrats on buying a Viper and selecting an iconic color!
Great video. I've never seen the channel before today - just stumbled on it and I'll watch anything with a Viper. I'm on my second - 2008 SRT10 Convertible. Had a 2000 RT/10 before and I miss that car. There's nothing like them on the road and they are a blast to drive. I always joke that it's the only car I've ever owned that tries to kill me every time I drive it - but I can't stop getting behind the wheel. This was a great thing you did for your dad and it's something he'll always remember.
I love this video! 🥹❤ Some time ago, I wondered why James was called Dad, as I remembered one of your early videos, where both of you talked about how you met. When you (Caroline) moved into a business unit next to James with Rebels Navy. And your car back then was basically rusted to the point it almost collapsed. I always loved the dynamic between you two. And stuff like that Mad Max style video still make me smile.
Omg. I am a viper fan in Sweden and I will own a gts one day, has been my dreamcar since a very young age. I bought my dad his dreamcar a diesel GWagon. You are a great person. It is truely a blessing to be able to do something like this for a loved one. You have a new sub, and sincerely all the best to you all!!
So many channels on TH-cam,Hard to believe that i’m just now watching one of your videos for the first time..Especially this one for the first..It shows just how genuine you are and how awesome your “Dad” is..Look forward to catching up on all the previous and future Videos ❤️🤟🏻
Stumbled upon your video while scrolling and I was flashing back when my friend bought a 96 GTS in the same exact color scheme when they first came out with the Viper and it was insane when he pulled into the shop when he picked it up. The sad part is he stripped it down and turned it into a beast and raced the hell out of it. Looked nothing like it did ever again because he just kept adding on it to make it go even faster than ever. Still has it to this day. Even with the miles on her it’s still an awesome find. You put your heart and soul into finding your father’s dream car and I hoped you and Alex got your much deserved rest after this video and you have another subscriber. Family is everything, blood or not!!! 👍🏻😁
Your content came across my channel and I had to watch it. I am impressed you two did this, but more impressed that you drove it back home. It’s not about the car itself, it was more about the adventure you took me on. Kudos kid!!!
As a 1996 BW gts owner this hit me right in the feels .. I picked mine up in MN too with my dad (during the summer) and we towed it home to CA. He still talks about that trip. Enjoy that thing! Also, the two vents behind trunk liner are stuck open and are letting in the c02 emissions, easy fix. And look up my buddy Viper Outlaws repro headlight lenses to fix those ugly painted ones!
Its the first video, of you guys, that i see... It was a wonderful gift... You are a wonderful woman to put so much effort and love in a very special gift to your dad... It made me cry of happiness... Thanks for this great video, what an incredible experience... Greetings from Mexico City.
I must be one of the very few Brits to have driven a Viper. I was so blown away when I saw my first one. Kudos for driving in THAT weather on THOSE tyres!
I have been a huge Viper GTS fan since they debuted the first generation Viper at the Dodge dealership in my hometown in 1994 when my twin brother and I were 6 years old, my dad drove us there at 8am to wait for them to deliver the first 2 Vipers in Kentucky and the obsession took over until our walls were covered in Viper posters and magazine photos!! I still dream of owning a 1st gen Viper GTS and a SRT-10 more than any of my dream cars ❤
Awesomeness what an incredible experience for everyone accept the 6'4 guy.. would love an update video on this car if anything has cha ged with it etc.. anyway congrats on being awesome and making a dream come true for your dad!
Choosing to be a step dad is an emotional risk men take with the goal to matter to the child. Many times it ends with the step dad holding the heart break when the relationship with the mom ends. Congrats to these two for having the relationship that is stepdads work for. Many blessings to you two and enjoy your viper. I just bought my first one and I love it. Enjoy!!!
I have a 2005 SRT-10, and whenever it comes to parts you have to resign yourself to the reality that even when the parts are available, virtually nothing you need will be on the shelf and you'll have to wait a few days at least.
This is so amazing. I loved his reaction when he got mad. And then his whole attitude changed. I had a 2007 Shelby GT500 and I remember what it felt like to take the first drive in it. I could definitely relate 20 pulled out of the driveway. I love his reaction to her giving him the car. I cannot relate to that, but it was an amazing video. Awesome.
Wish I had the chance to buy my dad a car. I was in the process of looking for a Mustang GT for him, but he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in October 2022 and passed away in January 2023. I ended up still buying the Mustang in his memory. Definitely cherish the time you have with your loved ones while you can.
The absolute love, shared appreciation for cars and up most respect for one another ... is the reason why I love the petrolhead community. Your bond and love for one another is a testament to your end credits ... I loved every second of this video !! 🙌🍻🏴💙
Thanks for the wisconsin shout out!, what i think is a bit overlooked about the viper is how mechanically stout it is for how rough of shape it made it through 9 states apart from the lights seemingly flawlessly
Pretty cool seeing the MN land marks like Zorbaz and Treasure City! 2nd gen Viper has a special place in my heart too as it's what I learned to drive a manual on - Specifically a 1997 GTS but in red. Wish we never sold that car. Good for you for doing this for your dad!
Great video! Your information on the viper is right on. I bought my 1997 dodge viper gts in January 2022 it's red with white stripes. Mine wasn't perfect, but is in a little bit better shape than the one you bought for your dad. I had to put a little work in on mine and the looks and attention it's gets I am not use to that attention. It definitely shows how much love the car gets.
I love how highly he thinks of the viper. The raw power and handling of the viper makes it special. With that big engine up front it has me feel like I’m driving something indestructible like a tank.
I’m not a Mopar guy by any stretch of the imagination. I’m actually a Mustang enthusiast. That’s really all I’ve drove since I was 18 and I’m 45 now so…🤷🏼♂️…you like what you like. However I appreciate any American made “muscle/sports/race” car and the story that goes with this particular Dodge Viper is so awesome !! Very well done !! You’ve earned my subscription and a big ol’ 👍🏻
Even though he is no longer alive..... What my dad meant and still does is inspiration to strive for greatness every day! He lived and died for us, his family. I know how you feel.❤
Youre a good kid. Will have to show this to my friend. Shes big into cars, big into Mopars, and her name is Carolina. She would struggle to close thehood though. I love teasing her about that lol. She got yoinked up in the air popping the hood of either my Continentals or her 71 Continental. I told her when she bought hers, to let go of the hood...Shes under 5ft, and up she went.
I love this video. I wanted a viper since 1992. Then I wanted a GTS. The last thing my dad and I did before he passed was travel the Midwest to finally get my 96 GTS. I felt every feeling along with you guys. I completely understand this. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have a daughter your age and viper has always been a dream car for me, even a budget one like that. One day, althought my issue is I am 6'5" so I would likely never fit. But I think it is amazing you did that for him!
For starters, we 100% vouch for “budget” or less Vipers. As long as you’re confident with it mechanically, it’s great. We have gotten a lot of appreciation for how it looks, and it’s soooo nice not sweating the small stuff like small scratches and such! 2. My boyfriend, Alex (the guy who went a picked up the viper with me) is 6’ 4” , although initially a tight squeeze getting in, he fits nicely while driving! So don’t give up on your dream Viper, you’ll have it & fit!! :) thanks so much for watching!!!
After I got my Viper back to Huntington Beach and got everything fixed, my whole attitude and perception of a Viper changed. I typically get 6-8 people a day who either give a compliment or want to talk about the car. Short of a Shelby Cobra, the Viper is a piece of car history.
After owning a 2000 Intrepid R/T and a 2005 Grand Caravan SXT I'm done with Mopars of all ltypes. The persistent electrical issues and heavy brake wear on both (the van was my wife's so I know it wasn't me) have soured me on Dodge. Sadly, the blue w/white stripes GTS has always been a favorite of mine.

Someone cutting onions? LOL Get it sorted and enjoy it! Very heartwarming video!
Fun bit, Shelby actually had a hand in designing this car
There’s a lot of Dad’s out here Caroline that are so proud of what you did for James. That was beautiful to watch. Thank you. xx
That was an amazing gift. His reaction was just priceless.👍
Hahah I am so glad I got a good reaction from him too! :)
I have a 1997 Viper GTS..almost pristine condition, and I just turned 160,000 miles! I loved your video amazing journey.
bada$$! cheers & thanks for watching!
You guys just have to Power Tour in this!
hehehe may be so!
@@HHWheels Would love to see you guys!
Absolutely have to do power tour!
Very cool!
As a car Dad of three daughters, this absolutely melts my heart. Amazing.
Great daughter!! I will live vicariously through this event- I never got to do this for my Father. Awesome video!
Caroline, you are a sweetheart!, what a cool gift for James
Thank you so much! He's happier than a pig in mud hahah!
Not a huge Viper fan, but I'm a huge fan of family and your relationship with your dad is so heartwarming!
Thank you for the comment! Family first!
Yeah that’s the best part! Seeing a loved one smile is worth the road trip to get the distressed Viper, and will provide time to spend together restoring it.
So many of us have a very similar goal to give back to our fathers and get them one of their dream cars. Massive congrats on you for pulling it off.
Thank you !! :)
Honestly though how did you not pick the charger lol
eh it was a V6 haha
@@HHWheelssay less
I don't understand how people can let such an iconic car go down the drain?? Cars like these should be pampered!
Viper life!!! He was mad and then not mad, very awesome. Glad he likes it, I can tell he really wanted one for a long time
Dreams can come true sometimes 🤘
OMG! That was an awesome journey around places I'm familiar with, and the reason you did it and why is a tear jerker! I cried 5Xs! You're amazing ppl!
Some time ago, I wondered why James was called Dad, as I remembered one of your early videos, where both of you talked about how you met.
When you (Caroline) moved into a business unit next to James with Rebels Navy. And your car back then was basically rusted to the point it almost collapsed.
I always loved the dynamic between you two.
And stuff like that Mad Max style video still make me smile.
Thank you💪🇺🇸
Vipers forever!💪👍👌
So many channels on TH-cam,Hard to believe that i’m just now watching one of your videos for the first time..Especially this one for the first..It shows just how genuine you are and how awesome your “Dad” is..Look forward to catching up on all the previous and future Videos ❤️🤟🏻
Thank you! That is so kind of you to say :) We really appreciate the love. :)
What an amazing young woman, friend and daughter you are. This was heartfelt. Thank you for sharing this video with us.
Thank you so much for the kind words. So glad you enjoyed watching :)
Your content came across my channel and I had to watch it.
I am impressed you two did this, but more impressed that you drove it back home.
It’s not about the car itself, it was more about the adventure you took me on.
Kudos kid!!!
Thank you!!!
What a great video! Now start fixing her up! performance upgrades and new paint. Love your relationship with your dad! Love the channel!
Amazing adventure and story for such a selfless person. James deserved this.
Yes he did. Thanks for taking the time to watch! :)
Its the first video, of you guys, that i see... It was a wonderful gift... You are a wonderful woman to put so much effort and love in a very special gift to your dad... It made me cry of happiness... Thanks for this great video, what an incredible experience... Greetings from Mexico City.
He’s hard to surprise but easy to love, seems like the perfect dad to me.
Ha ha! Thx
I must be one of the very few Brits to have driven a Viper. I was so blown away when I saw my first one. Kudos for driving in THAT weather on THOSE tyres!
That license plate is EPC FASTASFK!
First of all, what an absolutely awesome story! Thank you for sharing :)
Enjoy!!!
Thx for this comment! 🙏
You are a very special little lady......And you & your dad are SO lucky to have each other....
Thank you!! It's quite a blessing to share our love for cars together :)
Looks like a fun road trip. I’m sure your dad will be surprised.
Happier than a pig in mud! :)
Yeap!
I have a 2005 SRT-10, and whenever it comes to parts you have to resign yourself to the reality that even when the parts are available, virtually nothing you need will be on the shelf and you'll have to wait a few days at least.
That “finally” was when I realized it’s literally everything he ever wanted. Awesome. Congrats.
Awesome.
That is not the worst Viper. The worst Viper would not be running and be rusted to the core. You did good with this Viper.
Well thank you so much. Thank you for watching :)
Seemingly it is like a new car looking.
My first car was 200 Mark, from the junkyard.
Awesome, touching video!
The new rear tires are semi slick track use but somehow road legal and lethal in the wet. But I guess you know that
They have been pretty fun, but we knew from the get-go we were going to change out the wheel tire combo in the future anyways :) Thanks for watching!
Sorry to hear this.. We are here for a short time. It sucks when it is cut short. Keep on keeping on! We have to!✊
Best father/daughter car show on TH-cam, you both great people. Nice humans. Car nutz.
Great point!
Tire rack got that tire size for front and rear staggered set only 1723$ Michelin pilot sport ps2 .... sorry i was just curious...
Bosch Icon blades are the 1st thing I buy, never had to replace them...
This is beautiful I just sent this to my daughter..wish me luck
👍🙏
I love how highly he thinks of the viper. The raw power and handling of the viper makes it special. With that big engine up front it has me feel like I’m driving something indestructible like a tank.
It’s a great driving car!
I felt his emotion...Viper has been my dream car since I was a child...and stil is today!!!
Grateful for your kind words! Thank you 🙏
I'm glad this video pulled up on my TH-cam feed. Halfway thru and you are the girl every dad, or stepdad, hopes for.
Damn, I must be on tha rag. As a car guy, I seriously teared up when you pulled up. That was a nice thing you did!!
I was wondering how tall Alex was. I'm 6'4 and was able to drive an early 2000s Viper at my last job. Loved it.
Haha, Alex is 6' 4" as well! Once he was in, he was good to go!
@HHWheels getting in and out required a shoehorn but once in, I fit, unlike a Miata which I can't fit into.
Dude. This is funny now. My name is Alex too. She really will chuckle.
If only I could get her to be in a video. That would be fun.
Its not the people in MN are Viper fans, its that no one sees a Viper in MN from Nov 1st to Apr 1st, so they automatically think you're a celebrity. 😄
The Viper is the only car to beat the Shelby Roadster 0 to 90mph to 0mph record
👍👍👍
I can’t wait to do this for my mom. I’m finally doing well for myself and I owe her the world. So this just motivates me even more
After I got my Viper back to Huntington Beach and got everything fixed, my whole attitude and perception of a Viper changed.
Girl. You are a legend for what you did for him..
