I once went to Fairbanks, AK in April. It was 40ºF in the afternoon. I noticed several people out walking around in shorts and T-shirts. One thing that made it obvious who were the AK residents was the ghostly white complexions the have after spending the winter there.

Yea Su, I thought the same exact thing when she said it's a beautiful warm day. I'm used to Fl. weather I'm freezing before it hits 50*. It starts getting in the 20's n 30's I'm inside with the heat on and under my electric blanket. Lol. But if they have something fun to do like they're doing I can definitely put lots of clothes on and a good coat and definitely join them. Even in freezing weather they have a lot of fun. It's nice they have an extra cabin so they can get away at times.

Very strong community up here, I made a trip down to Chitina recently, long story short, lost all my important paperwork when my bag opened up on the boat. Made a post on facebook in the community page explaing what had happened and what I needed, and since I was losing service it was a last ditch effort. This Fellow Chris was nice enough help me since he was gonna be down to Chitina the next day. He went to Fish and Game and was able to get me copies of the paperwork that was needed and when he got down to Chitina the next day, he was able to find my camp on the river and give it to me. Luckily Fish and Game understood and was able to let him help me out or else it wouldve been a trip wasted. I've had many situations where folks have helped me, and I in turn try to help others when I can. Its a tight knit community, even strangers are willing to lend a hand.

Buy some extra mantles, a spare plunger (works on both), and you can just leave everything there for the next trip. Much more efficient. My lantern has an eight hour burn time. Less waste (canisters), and the only thing you’ll need to haul is fuel.

I hope you post the fishing video. No matter how many times you post, it's different everytime. I love it. I sometimes wait to watch your videos because I don't want it to end and I get to watch two in a row.

You all are living the sweet life, and are an inspiration. The world would be better, and everyone happier, if we could all be self sufficient and independent. Spending most all of your time connected with nature and creating your own survival has to be one of the main keys to happiness.

They're not self sufficient and independent and they have never said they aspire to be so, and good for them! Humans survive also through community. Being all alone is very dangerous.

I feel like I am watching friends that live in Alaska that enjoy their life with their babies (dogs and cat). Your videos get better and better watching them. I look forward to seeing you go to the cabin and couldn't wait till it snowed again so you could use your snow machines to go on a small vacation to your second home. I grabbed my coffee and a snack just to sit in my comfy chair and sit and watch. Hugs from Maryland.

      I got hungry. It's 2:38 am.
      Nothing open.
Nothing thawed and certainly no homemade bread of any sort.
Then... the biscuits and gravy almost did me in.
      🤤

Have you thought of lining the dog sled with foam insulation walls floor and ceiling would help dogs keep snug on those long trips. The old hunting seats were just bags of styrofoam beads. They warmed right up from body heat.

Might also be for survival if someone was injured , could curl up and stay warm. Maybe keep a thermal blanket in there etc. It might not be you but others on the Trail.
