I say she has a elite voice.
She's sub par on piano and has no idea how to sing in her lane.. every performance she gotten worse.
And then sadly, some dumb producers will make her, under contract, sing some horrible dance/pop songs that go nowhere for her.
As anyone who's watched programs like AI knows, talent means nothing when it comes to having a career in the entertainment industry. At least the kind of career most of us envision when we think of success. It might never translate into a Grammy or an Oscar or a Platinum record. And please remember, regardless of outcome, nothing can be stolen when the outcome is left to the whims and lack of musical taste of the voting public. Diana Ankudinova, very unique voice and has won multiple competitions and is still just a regional nobody. Haley Reinhart couldn't win AI, has chosen to stay independent and found success on her own terms. Floor Jansen, a master of her instrument, would probably lose out to some mediocre pop singer with a twang on a show like this. And all those past winners, and contestants whose 15 minutes of fame have faded to black. As long as you expectations are bleak is there any hope for pleasant surprise.
I think Abi loves Sara Bareilles as much as I do because this was Sara Bareilles’s arrangement of yellow brick Road. And when Elton John heard it, he said “Sara a lot of people have done that song as a cover, but yours is by far the most beautifully unique one.” and Abidid a spectacular job.
I said in one of my quotes that she should do a Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillet and Maggie Rogers' Alaska.
I didn’t know that Sara B rendition and thought of her when listening to this.

Yeah, Abi took Sara's arrangement and added some unique touches. I thought that key was just a little low for her, but the high register was crystal clear 👏👏👏

doing what she loves, so well. Sparkle and Shine. Those top notes so haunting, lower very assured. This was engaging, tender, nostalgic. Took me to a good place. Kinda reminded me of #thewizbway. Those big belts were unexpected and so pleasing.

The best to describe this is captivating, silent crowd, literally perfect runs and falsetto, smashed the high notes. Very similar to Adam Lamberts performance of mad world where everyone was in awe

Forget the fact her voice is one for the ages...nothing short of a pure silken thread, but this arrangement....and her presentation was a brilliant and transporting musical journey for the ears and heart. I am still speechless and a blubbery mess from having experienced this soul feast.

I am a huge fan of Sara Bareilles, and anyone who has heard her sing this rendition during The Brave Enough Tour knows how captivating this arrangement is for the audience. Dare I say, Abi made it even more ethereal, magical, and goose-bumpy (yes, that's now a word) than I've heard in the past. Regardless of where she finishes in this competition, I'll be purchasing her album. But please, if you're listening Abi, consider singing a Sara Bareilles song somewhere along the way. I know this competition is about finding your own way, but the soulful quality in your voice mirrors that in Sara's so beautifully. And is it ironic, that as an author, the name of the protagonist in my next novel (begun before American Idol aired its first episode) is Abbi :)
Maybe the best AI has seen. Her talent goes beyond just vocal ability. She truly captivates the audience and is beyond her years. I hope when she lands her first deal she doesn't get over produced music. Her talent is beyond lots of busy production and should be kept raw like this performance.
