I've been listening to her perform at the local market night for years. I made all my friends stop, listen, and drop in cash whenever they visited. I always believed in her and always hoped she would make it. She would sing her HEART OUT to 12-50 people week after week.
That’s very cool - you just have been excited to see her on here! What style of song does she normally sing? Or, does she do a heap of different genres. If she’s been busking for ages, she’ll probably do well on idol. I think it’s great preparation!

She usually sits at her piano and takes song requests from people who drop in money. She'll pull anything up on her iPad and crush it. Hell, she even did Cotton-Eyed Joe once because my friend asked her to as a joke.

I keep coming back to this audition (more like a stage performance!). I listened to the original, and Billie Eilish does an amazing job. However, Abi brought the song to life and tears in a this grown man's eyes. She sung her heart out. I put her rendition on my Playlist. Congratulations, Abi Carter! You are amazing!

@@tawnyrobinson3930they've clapped a few times. There's auditions from 2019,2021,2022 online on American idols TH-cam page from auditions where the crew clapped and shown on the video clapping. So unless those auditions from a few years ago were taped after this and somehow went in a time machine to upload them then you are correct. If no time machine was in play here then you are wrong.
@@tawnyrobinson3930 the crew clapped for auditions in 2019,2021,2022 they even pan the camera to show it. You can only hear clapping in this video. The others actually show it.

I've watched it dozens of times myself, and I've never tired of it. There's something magical about it. Billie's version was PERFECT, but Abi made it perfect in a completely new way. It's Abi's version that I remember now, not Billie's.

I have listened to this so many times. I studied music, so I know a little bit about music. Her voice is so pure. The inflection on her notes are sang with such feeling. She is the whole package. I hadn’t heard the original either until after this. Billie’s version is faster tempo, not as much soul and passion in the song. They should put these out, similar to how Glee used to put out albums. I mean they’re on YT so why not.

Abi did a GREAT job picking a BEAUTIFUL tune to audition, and making it her own elevating her tone in the song and melting the judges and America with her performance 😉

Abi just LOVES to sing. In that respect, she's just like her mother. Her mom gave up her own singing career to have seven wonderful children.

My wife and I have been watching this show since its inception and have seen some amazing talent but never have we seen anyone like Abi Carter.
Thank you. Her mom and I started watching it from AI's debut on June 11th, 2002. Abi was still in the womb. But at Mom's next sonogram visit, our doctor said "She's singing!" I kid you not!
And she has never stopped. She was meant to sing. She has been doing it since before she was born.

I think you could be onto something with Fields of Gold. With all the song choices out there probably a slim chance she sings it on idol though 😢 I think there are a chunk of songs she's got in her arsenal that she can pull off, that will sound AMAZING, maybe close to this classic moment on Idol.

They were raised in a Christian home, reading the scriptures as a family each morning, and praying to God, holding hands, at the dinner table. They knelt in prayer as a family every night, followed by hug time!
