I understand that companies don't want their private information leaked, but I still love being able to learn about their development process and seeing how games changed over the development process. Seeing beta builds for a familiar game gives an odd feeling of being simultaneously familiar, yet strange. It makes people appreciate these games even more, look at the amount of work people from around the world have put into Mario 64 since the leak and de-compilation.
I always assumed companies had the brain to simply keep the secrets stuff on a CPU that isn't connected to the internet at all, that way being hacked can only happen from the inside, which is easier to have control of with good security.
@@Vanserchan sure, but it is more safe, it could be so that said CPU remains in a very lonesome room that full of cameras and motion trackers and metal detectors and only one person can get in at once, very genius move ☝️🤓

Depends on the spoilers for me, if I know which characters already die in games it's kinda hard to really build that relationship with them because all I could think about is that I wonder when the moment comes when they bite the dust... Obviously with great writing those characters would still be good but it gives it a bit of a bad taste for me. And I think it was confirmed some companies do actually do those kind of controlled leaks, to hype them up a bit more, like there was the huge Xbox leaker who basically knew anything. Nothing against Mudkip but I am just a really big fan of bunnies, a bunny is automatically always the best possible animal! Without Mudkip there wouldn't have been the... Mudkip meme though... which is just... Mudkip! Old memes were weird sometimes. I think it's a mix between clout chasing and being able to do it. If someone suddenly told me what's in the next Direct I would probably also kinda want to share it with people to show them that I know something secret and big that they can't know. And it can be pretty lucrative too, some people built their whole channels or social media on leaks to make money from it. With that I don't mean leakers who actually hack though, just the kind of people who hear things going on in the industry through different people and all that. Because in the "real" hacker scene then I would agree with you, trying to hack such big companies to maybe even get a job with them and all that.
I don't mind leaks as long as they don't give too much of the goods and don't piss me off. Otherwise, I try to ignore them until official announcements are made. Especially for a big game from a franchise that I actually like.
