A long time ago must've been in the mid 80s I was lent a book that really helped me. I don't recall the title but it was written by a Shrink and it was based on just four concepts. I don't remember the other three but what I do remember is one that really stunned me at the time. We are NOT our thoughts. Thoughts come and go and we don't have to be attached to them. Some of them might not even be our own. We don't have to believe every thought that we think. We can even say no I totally disagree with that. I came to notice that some of my thoughts were causing me a great deal of pain but they were always the same thoughts. The more I backed off and looked at these thoughts from a distance, the more I realized these weren't things that I was coming up with, they were coming to me but not from me. Then of course I got upset but I soon figured out that if you ignore these ideas and not react to them, they actually go away. If the thoughts are making you upset or anxious and they bother you, you don't have to listen. You don't have to react in any way. Just ignore it. Gently but firmly think of something positive. Every time you notice them just easily turn to a different topic. When you take your power back and refuse to give it to these intrusive thoughts, you've won. You get to decide what you will believe and what you think about by separating from the thoughts and looking at them objectively. Best wishes for an end to your depression. You can be the winner, you can stop repeating negative sayings that hurt you. You are not the feelings, you are the person that feels them. Much love.
@@glitterygirl1017 They do say that about time, I've had that thought myself on occasion too. How long though, I guess that's not up to us. While it may very well be true, I think actively pursuing a few more tactics and strategies from within can only be of help to try rather than just watching and waiting in hope while you're hurting. Our brains are extremely complex and powerful organic machines that we barely have the most rudimentary understanding of so giving certain things a chance that might help can only be worthwhile, I'd like to think so. As you say youtube and this channel in particular really helps to take your mind off things, however overwhelming your situation may be for you at that time. John is a great storyteller and has a really engaging and respectful style towards his audience, and the comment upon comment of praise he gets is well-earned. We all have our various personal issues in life, some people find it harder to cope with theirs whatever they may be than others, but another thing is it's been reported people find a solace in talking and sharing, just as much or as little as you want to and not feeling pressured to do so. That's actually the rationale or part of it for things like AA/ NA/ and other various types of group meetings, to know that you're alone. Once you start to get it out of your system, so to speak, i think it can become gradually easier to identify the root cause or causes and therefore can be easier to finally deal with; I hope anyone suffering with depression manages to find whatever helps them in their journey. One thing I'd also recommend is having a look at Marcus Aurelius' thoughts on Stoicism. There are a few techniques in there that help a lot in contextualising your troubles.
This man is without a doubt the best storyteller on TH-cam or anywhere for that matter. Dude deserves a tv show or something. I could watch these all day. Thanks for what you do @MrBallen !!
I knew David’s (story 1) brother very well and he always said David A) would never, ever have left his family, especially his daughter, and B) could not see anything without his glasses. He said the fact that he was found without them made him believe someone purposefully harmed him. So very sad.

But he did his glasses. The cop didn't think he did but he looked at the list of belongings the john doe had, and he did have glasses and they were the same kind as David. So either the cop is lying or your story doesn't add up
Congratulations on on the fact that David Paulides consider you a great story teller. I agree with him 100%. It would be so cool if you and he could collaborate in the near future. Keep up the great work and please stay the humble guy you are. You are one of the fasted growing channels on TH-cam, and it is obvious you love what you're doing.
That would make my life if Mr ballen told some new missing 411 cases for David Paulides. I am so grateful that he linked to the missing 411 page too so that way more people actually hear what's going on, and realize that its not just a story, that its real and happening a bunch.
Mr.Ballen speaks swiftly and clearly, a great story teller! Educational instructors should take note as to how he captivates an audience attention..Thank you for your military service as well young man..
I think he's great but I need him to speak not so swiftly when he mentions the name of the person involved, plus the date, month, and location of each incident. All of these are important details that set the stage from the start but I often have to go back if I don't get them first time around.
There's something almost comical about the hitman who killed the wrong lady being like "Ooooh... that's the wrong lady... Imma just tell the newspaper this was an accident."
It is a courtesy to let the family of the innocent know what happened was an accident. Not knowing what happened to someone is worse than knowing, even if it was murder and hitmen know that better than anyone else.
I used to be suicidal and went to a board online that allowed people to talk about methods and everything else suicide related that is usually banned online. Members put a lot of creative detail into planning how to die while making people think it was an accident.
That would be absolutely torturous. When my husband died unexpectedly (we were separated at the time), even though I didn't have a lot of money, I paid hundreds extra to have 20 minutes with him as a "viewing." I knew that if I didn't see him and confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was dead, I'd still be expecting him to knock on the door any day. Or think that any random number calling me might be him. I saw him with my own eyes and I still doubted/doubt it. That's denial for you, I suppose. But I can only imagine that the people who never get that closure are probably in limbo every day, wondering/hoping beyond hope when their loved one will show up. Awful. My heart hurts for them.
It’s a terrible feeling When that happens. Especially when you feel like the person responsible is out walking the streets and you see them all the time knowing they killed ur loved one and you can’t do anything about it bc you can’t prove it.
Oh yeah, he's the best. I had a friend who was a professional storyteller, entertaining at camps and such, wore bear skin and moccasins, etc, and was a fantastic teller of tales. Mr Ballen is so great, his storytelling beats my friend's into the dirt like its the Like Button! 👍
I read title of a story that sounded interesting, so I thought why not try to listen? It was only 10 minutes long, I clicked on it and tried to listen with an open mind. After 3 minutes I found myself wanting to get to the end and that's when again I realized that there is no one who can tell stories as well as the strange dark and mysterious by Mr.Ballen, he is the absolute best ever!!!

Taking into account the story you covered on Cindy in Unsolved Mysteries Part 2, you can kinda understand why he didn’t contact the police. They didn’t believe her, even going so far as to blame her for her own death. These stories are so heartbreaking!
My mom told me at one point she never wanted anything to happen to me but if she had to have one or the other, she’d rather know I was dead than have me be missing and her not know if I was alive, out there hurt or struggling, or if I was rotting in a field somewhere I’d never be found. Seems morbid but I understand it. I would not want false hope a loved one was alive or to never know what happened to them.

I listen to a LOT of storytelling TH-cam channels and MrBallen is by FAR the best story teller on the internet; and the main reason for me is this: he speaks like a human. I tolerate a lot of youtube channels where the narrator/storyteller sounds like they just landed on earth and are trying to figure out speech cadence, tone, and pauses. It’s truly bizarre how so many people sound like human pendulums trying to slowly hammer your brain into mush.

Same here! My friends and family all know that there’s no guarantee in getting in contact with me. I reply to messages in my mind and then always forget to actually send one.
@@pattysalvatore1407 My husband comes home and angrily asks what I did all day. He’s concerned there’s another man, and I had to confess Mr Ballen is that other man. Lol
I bet David’s family was threatened so in order to keep them safe, he disappeared. This isn’t uncommon.. same thing happened to an unsolved case of a lawyer Ray Gricar of center county PA. Justice isn’t blind, it’s blackmailed and paid off. True justice doesn’t exist until we leave this earth.
That's an excellent theory actually. He might not have cared for his own life, but would certainly have cared about threats to his family. He was trying to hide and his death literally could have been an accident.
Everytime I hear about a case of someone suddently becoming paranoid, I always think "I wish they'd check his intestines at autopsy". Crohn's disease can sometimes cause paranoia and symptoms similar to schizophrenic disorders. And those can appear suddenly and out of nowhere.
I stumbled upon Mr Ballen about 6 months ago. I've enjoyed all of his stories especially the one about the blue haired lady. His story telling abilities are outstanding.
I believe that David's "hit and run" was not an accident. Seems that he got spooked on game day and executed a secret escape plan. However, eventhough he got far fast, he was tracked and hitting a "John Doe" on the side of the road is a great "cover" for a targeted hit. He was murdered.
I agree. But the ring? Only 3 reasons to do that: 1 I am leaving you, 2 hit men do that 3 it's a message to you (plus his watch was there). No one mentions if he had military clothing at home. I wonder if at home, he was invaded, drugged, redressed into something he would never wear to throw off scent, took on trip, dumped on road when he started to get bearings, then hit him with vehicle. Kind of far-fetched, but wonder if wealthy client paid for a hit.
Agree he was murdered, wish we knew more about the law firm and what they were trying to cover up. I’d be upset if I were his wife when the police closed the case saying he probably just left on his own. When a guy is worried someone might harm about him because he’s testifying soon and made it known he won’t say what his law firm wants him to say, then he dies suddenly under mysterious circumstances, that’s a motive. Seems like the cops just wanted to close the case instead of keeping it open unsolved. (Hmmm, did the law firm recently make any big contributions to the police lately...?) Same thing with the two Mary Connor murders, cases closed despite being obvious murders with a probable motive that makes sense.
I am from Amarillo and I love that he's found a story from there. Also love how he says Amarillo. Lol. I am addicted to listening to him telling these stories. He gives so much detail and respect to the victims.

Mr.Ballen speaks swiftly and clearly, a great story teller! Educational instructors should take note as to how he captivates an audience attention..Thank you for your military service as well young man..
And great attention to detail!
Whoopsie daisy 😂
**Never try**
Professionals have standards
It is a courtesy to let the family of the innocent know what happened was an accident. Not knowing what happened to someone is worse than knowing, even if it was murder and hitmen know that better than anyone else.
Like surely there footage of the man from the store
I can’t imagine losing someone and never knowing exactly what happened and never getting justice.
Unsolved murders happen everywhere. There was one on a road a few miles from my house in rural AZ
I used to be suicidal and went to a board online that allowed people to talk about methods and everything else suicide related that is usually banned online. Members put a lot of creative detail into planning how to die while making people think it was an accident.
@@swampsprite9 Uh, k?

Taking into account the story you covered on Cindy in Unsolved Mysteries Part 2, you can kinda understand why he didn’t contact the police. They didn’t believe her, even going so far as to blame her for her own death. These stories are so heartbreaking!
A loved one just vanishing for no apparent reason, for years, especially leaving their stuff behind, seems worse than discovering they were murdered.
If they're dead you know they aren't coming back, closure is important.

(Hmmm, did the law firm recently make any big contributions to the police lately...?)
Same thing with the two Mary Connor murders, cases closed despite being obvious murders with a probable motive that makes sense.
@@changeintheair9648 I think he left his rung so it couldn’t be taken by a hit man and so his wife would always have it. Same with the watch.

let it be our secret ! I don't WANT them clogging up the comments......too late.
They’ll have one hell of a marathon when they do though
I'm addicted to these stories. I feel like a little girl listening to my teacher during story-hour! You're a great narrator!
As a native Washingtonian, I’m not sure if I love or hate that my state comes up so often with the strange, dark, and mysterious..
i know right? so many of these stories end up in washington at one point or another
for some reason the west coast seems to have a lot of killers
@Kevin Malone I don't think that would be considered lucky
Same but I live in texas
@Kevin Malone probably, but I don't want to have to die of almost die to do it. Also doesn't he normally change the names?
HEAR HEAR him and I am lost in listening to not justifying t the stories but his voice. The fact he is a veteran just sealed the deal! Then… to find out his mother helps him , love 💕 love love.
Although these stories scare the heck out of me, Ballen’s story telling makes it so addicting, best story teller!
Omg same, I'm scared of my own house now but I can't stop watching 😂
Yea reminds me of my kid days my school payed for a story teller to tell stories every Friday during recess
If MrBallen wore his hat forward I don’t think i’d recognize him lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣 it'd be as disturbing as shaving his mustache
@@enjoyyourself7455 Right? 😂😂😂
@@enjoyyourself7455 right!!!!😆😆😆XD
🤣TRUTH🤣
Or shaved the stash....
Saying "No known enemies" is as ominous as "they seemed to have hadthe perfect marriage" on Snapped. Never ends well.
Everyone has enemies 🤣
@@peterf.229 can confirm, I hate everyone including myself.
Thank you for your service & being my new favorite bedtime story :)
The hit man story reminds me of the first terminator movie where he is hunting down everyone with the same name in the phone book
That’s what I thought of too
Sarah Connor
Same
Come with me if U Whant to live
@@heathermac4024 ok but can we stop for ice cream?
Thank you Mr Ballen for letting us know any day we can just flip out, wander off, and die.
Lol!!!
True🤔😂
That’s so funny...In a terrifying, true kind of way.
😂😂😂
It's usually other beings using mind control. But close enough.
This is not just a channel but an addiction. The bestest TH-cam channel with interesting contents.
stumbled across this channel by accident. been absolutely hooked ever since. brilliant
I saw this dude when he had a couple thousand subs. He blew up quickly. Congrats, very simple but entertaining. 🤙
Imagine being the one that was whacked by mistake, damn tragic story.
I know right?! That has to suck, "sorry wrong person" WTF!!
The hitman: oh yo my bad didn't me to shoot that Mary
Here's a minduck: MrBallen has millions of viewers and growing. Statistically speaking, it's only a matter of time before some of the subscribers become some of the stories...
I heard sometime in the early 80's, I think, that by a certain year 25% of the people on earth would be Elvis tribute artists, somehow calculated by the rate they seemed to be proliferating back then. Either a lot of them haven't quit their day jobs, and/or I'm unaware of it.
I've thought about that and it both fascinates and terrifies me. If it's me I hope my story is cool.
And now I am scared that I will die today
... maybe even some of those millions can answer some of the missing people and/or murder cases.
