Stream movies via HDMI/PHONE in 2016 Honda Pilot EXL-RES

- Streaming videos via internet is possible with the 2016 Honda Pilot EXL with RES. You can stream through Netflix or TH-cam, or anything else on your phone, through the HDMI port. This is how you can do it (watch video). I am using an iPhone to do this, and had to buy the Lightning Digital AV Adapter.

This is a great instruction video. One thing to add, make sure your Bluetooth is disabled on the device used as source for video. I was having trouble making video work and after I turned off Bluetooth video worked great. Thank You for the video.

Tim Howard that other white cable is the USB cable which plugs into adapter and the Honda Pilots USB port so the phone can charge will plugged in. So it's to charge.
So the HDMI cable does not charge the iPhone by itself?
Any info on why I can't get audio?
Tried this with my iPhone 7 Plus hooked up to Pilot elite 2017, but the rear entertainment keeps saying 720p. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Interesting. My only question is how do you route the sound to the headphones? My Pilot Touring came with headphones for backseat.
Did you figure it out? On the main menu, make sure you click on "rear audio" and have the appropriate input selected, whether it be rear HDMI or DVD. Then you simply turn on the headphones and they'll work

I have Samsung and cannot connect with the HDMI cord, it doesn't show any device connected. yet my Bluetooth and Honda link show and connect... only the HDMI won't work? Help

Jennys Alvarez on the main screen you have an “audio” and “rear audio” option. If you choose rear audio, you can turn on a movie so that people on the back can watch and listen the movie through headphone. At the same time you can hear radio through the speakers so both the radio and the rear entertainment are playing at the same time. But you can not play them at the same time sharing the main speakers. It will only work if the rear has headphones

Is audio supposed to play automatically? I tried plugging in my laptop and my phone, but all the plays is just the video. No audio.
When on the home screen, you'll see an "audio" and "rear audio" section. If you want the audio to stream through the car speakers so everyone can hear, you also need to click on "audio" and also make sure that the source is set accordingly, so if your connected via HDMI then you need to choose "rear HDMI".
+Carlos Rodriguez I did that but for some reason no audio when the car is in accessory mode. When I turned the engine on, it started to work, and now it works in accessory mode. Just wanted to post this in case someone else has my issue.

yes you can, but you need to have a constant internet connection or it will lag if it's streaming

I have a 2015 honda odyssey Elite touring with tv built factory installed. Have an android phone s8 plus what cable will I need to connect it the same way as you did in this video

nycas 21 I believe you need a USB-C to HDMI adapter. Just google HDMI adapter for your specific phone model. I’m just not sure if there is an adapter that will allow you to charge your phone at the same time

No. That doesn't work as Odyssey has a different RS7489 controller. You need to pay three fiddy to Honda to get an upgrade.

Polocarpio Santos did you figure this out? I am having the same issue. I can not get the screen to move to “video in”. Its stuck on “audio in”. The aux button wont toggle to anything else.
I just purchased this adapter and after downloading some videos from Netflix, once I connect it in my Pilot, it pauses. After hitting play, it pauses immediately again and not able to play the video. Anyone have any suggestions here?
