I’ve had a few ducks as pets in the past. They are AWESOME! They happily snuggle up on your lap and make adorable little cooing sounds. All they need to be happy is someplace to swim, someplace to run, grass and grain. If you wanna see a duck REALLY happy, give them an earthworm.
I bet fresh ice water does taste good to animals. Lions and cats love it! I mean it’s not like they always have access to clean water sources. Especially fresh cold water.

I have a cat that likes ice in her water. Sometimes she will sit in front of the water and meow until I put some in. The realization came when I got tired of her trying to drink from the toilet after a fresh flush. The well water is like 52 to 55 degrees F, so fairly cool. I started closing the lid on the toilet always so she wouldn't drink and then she'd just refuse to drink her water. I eventually tried ice and at first it turned into a toy. She'd dip a paw in and poke around at the ice floating on the water, but then it turned into something she wanted in the water haha

this doesnt have anything to do with water but i have this one cat who whenever i refill his food bowl he always has to have someone pet him before he eats, i dont know why but its kinda funny

The reason why i love this duck is because and only because she loves ice.
I know how a duck being attacked by a weasel feels. Mine actually lost her sister, and her left eye, and we only had two ducks before that her and her sister. We didn't want her to be lonely, so I gave her to a friend, and honestly, I don't think she's been that happy in a few years

I reckon she was wounded and the purple was an antiseptic spray the vet used after treating her injuries.
@Stranded NYer Probably didn't know. It's a type of spray called "Blu kote" and is used not only to protect the wound but also to keep other chickens & ducks from picking at the wound. It dyes their skin and feathers and goes away after they molt out those feathers.
