OK, a lot of suburbanites posting here as a native Chicagoan born and raised and I’m here and I’m never leaving. I never heard of the first three places then you hit Suoerdawg which just so you know they get their hotdogs made for them there’s no other hotdog in the world like theirs. And then everyone knows Gene & Jude’s. FYI there used to be a famous bar that had live music called the thirsty whale right next-door. They had some really cool bands play there. Well, there’s some Chicago trivia for you 😊
Dude, not one of them was a "classic" Chicago dog. The only one that came close was Super Dawg. Hot water dog, steamed poppy seed bun, yellow mustard, chopped white onion, neon green relish, tomato, kosher dill pickle, sport peppers and celery salt. No substitutions. Definitely NO Ketchup!!!

I live in Southwest Michigan (about 2 hours) from Chicago and work at a hot dog place (Dog Slinger) and people coming in to visit from Chicago, and everywhere else, Say that our hot dogs are as good if not better than the ones that they get at home.
I know it’s not your usual fare, but I love to hit the Chicago Diner while I’m there. It’s a vegan diner and the food is exceptional IMO. When I visit this year I’ll have to go on a hot dog tour, these all look so good!😊
Uhh... that first one is not a "classic Chicago style hot dog"... the poppy seed bun is standard, not that griddled thing... you can just google or look on TH-cam to do some basic research before you start reviewing. Technically a true Chicago style hot dog is what they call a Depression style dog, with mustard, relish and onions and celery salt and the fries piled on top. I agree with most of the comments here, the first 3 dogs are not Chicago style dogs.
And NONE of those was an actual Chicago hot dog. Superdog was the closest. A Chicago hot dog is NOT cooked on a flat top (thats New York), nor is it a Char dog. A Chicago dog starts with a Vienna all beef dog cooked in hot water. Then you put it on S Rosen Mary Ann poppy seeded bun that has been steamed. Condiments are yellow mustard, diced onion, relish, tomato, celery salt, sport (aka spear) peppers and a pickle spear. That is a true traditional Chicago hot dog that you can get in just about any corner stand. A popular place (event tho they have gone corporate) is Portillo's. So your tour left out a real Chicago hot dog! Not saying that variation can't be good. But you need to include the authentic first.
When my siblings and I were growing up, we did not eat out very often. But, the best hot dogs where we lived were from A & W. Frisch's Big Boy was a close second. If I consider where I live now, I think Red Horse used to sell hot dogs and probably Dairy Queen. I don't eat hot dogs any longer. When I used to, I put cheese, sauerkraut (fermented; not, canned), and barbecue sauce on the bun. If there was no sauerkraut, I would pass on the dog.
Really good reviews. One I haven't yet been to. You left out the pickled tomato at SuperDawg. You don't eat it on the dog--it is a side bite--but it is a major reason I like SuperDawg.

Please come back and do some research on true Chicago dog places. The second one you visited was a nationwide chain. The first place is a niche stall at a local food hall. Superdawg is a thing all it's own (over priced for what it is as well). Gene and Jude's is probably one of the best in the world. Fatso's is all right. But you need to go to Jimmy's, Red Hot Ranch, Weiner Circle, Maxwell Street Depot, Jim's Original (get a polish while you're there too). And at all costs avoid Portillos like the plague. It's straight up trash tier now. It was decent about 10 to 15 years ago but since they sold out it's been a horrible downward spiral.
It's sad seeing people trying to convince people Chicago has something worth going there for it's a dump and all the things that were worth going to see are gone the crime and corrupt police makes it crap shute you might enjoy it or it could be a nightmare good luck
