Is this the best cart in NYC? What do you think?
The guys who own the carts always made money. The hardest part was getting the spot and if you were going to work it yourself. I know people who put their kids through college with a hotdog cart.
@@DWilliam1 John's Famous during the interview said he paid for his kids college. You can definitely make money. It's getting past the red tape and mafia bosses.
Kids go to college pay their own way not by their rich mommy and daddy
Yes, it is! I think the moist bun is not only the hotdog juices, but also the "dirty water" which Billy likely "seasons" and that may explain the popping flavors you experienced. Billy's, like Gray's Papaya and Papaya King, use the best of all -- Sabretts! I go to Gray's when I want my hotdog grilled and Billy's when I want a dirty water dog.
This is the best hotdog in NYC hands down!!! I just wrote you a comment to visit him in a shorts video .. then was suggested this video... So glad you made a video of this legend!! Keep up documenting all these legends!!
I’m from texas and after a long morning in the American museum of natural history, we went to Billy’s cart not having cash. Billy was so nice that he gave my kid a dog and saved my day before my hungry toddler had a melt down. Bless this man.
Love it
We went there today, he was lovely and really kind. We asked about all the great reviews and he said he's not interested in any of the "kit kat or tik tok stuff" he obviously just loves doing a great job. He said that he always uses the best ingredients and showed us the hot dogs and these really expensive onions. We walked across the road, ate it and walked straight back for more. When we got back there was another customer who had done the exact same thing. We would have had a third if there was room. We asked him if many people come straight back within 5 mins and he said it was regular.
LOVE IT!!!!
Went to his stand after watching this and the man is a legend! Dog was perfect.
I eat @ his stand all the time, best hotdogs and cheap prices. Never charged me full price. Gives away free food to kids all day long.
What a sweet man, you can tell he loves what he does. Would love to travel to NYC just to eat at his stand and pick his brain a little.
@@MrBell-xl7hd we were lucky enough to do so.. it was worth it.
Went to Billy's this afternoon. What a gentleman. I was shocked that a dog with sauerkraut, extra mustard and onion sauce was only $2.00. I basically had to bore a hole in Billy's hand for him to take the tip.
Great hot dog! It's everything and more that Chris opined. It's now my favorite Manhattan hot dog, followed by Gray's Papaya. But the ambiance of Central Park West blows away Gray's.
AWESOME!
It's called fair prices, it's a hot dog not a steak.
I've watched this video like at least 15 times lol, I also have been eating NY style ever since, great video!
Awesome! Thank you!
"This is so good, I think I ate the napkin" ;) Love it! Have to go to NYC just to go to Billy's!
Hi, watching from Cape Town South Africa, never had a sauerkraut and mustard dog till I watched your channel. Now I know it's the best thing ever. Hope the channel spreads the word
Stick to your biltong
Just got back from a 2 week tour of NY.. as an Australian the general hotdog carts charging $5 for a dog are a rip off.. but Billy’s is outstanding the quality is the best I have ever had the price is amazing and the service from Billy second to none.. he is the best.
So that’s the famous billy dog I can’t wait
I did notice that the dog was bigger than the bun. $2 and $2.50 is a steal for that much tasty food. So it sounds like you found the best hotdog stand in the city.
Between the last video i was watching with the green floating hotdog and the old toppings this one looks like some premium quality hotdog.
true friends/family will pay without question to support their loved one's start up...
I've seen other people review him. Always the best. He could easily charge an extra buck a dog and double his revenue.
Hi Chris one of the best things about NYC is a great street dog. Billy is doin something he loves..you can tell by the way he fixes up that dog. A nice guy too. Make him a millionaire folks. Im goin to get me some Billy tomorrow!
You’re the second TH-camr I’ve seen that has highly recommended this place. I’ll be traveling to New York for the first time in July and definitely plan to give this man some business.
No freebies. 💥 Another good one, thanks Chris.
My fav, honestly this looks like the best hot dog in the city. I will trying it next time Im there
Billy definitely does not cheat on the toppings. I heard he sold his taxi medallion, how much are they worth , I think this is his hobby.
Taxi medallions are not worth as much as before because of Uber, Lyft, etc. Unless he sold at the right time.
I love Hot Dogs & ive never been to New York but this has to be the best looking Dawg ive ever seen. Simple, honest and fairly priced. I hope he is still there! 🌭🌭🌭
Just found you channel thanks love hot dogs
Wow I gotta try Billy's.
Ever since I've been watching your videos I'm craving hot dog venders ugh ❤
It's always a great day, when you get a great hot dog from a great vender, and they have the attitude of gratitude! God Bless Billy, and God Bless you, for giving us a snapshot of what it's like, getting a great hot dog in New York!
I'd eat the napkin too. Great looking dog.
Is it even safe?
Billy is a NY institution. He is a throwback to what the city used to be. He takes pride in the food he sells and in it's quality. Most hot dog stands in the city are owned in bunches by llc's or veteran owned . And are usually leased out or run by an employee paid by the day. And the quality absolutely sucks. They literally put the "dirt" in dirty water dogs. For me, it's Billy's or nothing as far as street dogs.
Best bloke we met in Febuary was Billy for sure, but best dog belonged to the cart outside the MET.. Its a nice walk from Billys to there through the park :)
There... added it to my "must visit" on my Google Map, for when i someday will visit New York.
My god that hot dog that your eating is so mouth watering good that my stomach is literally growling by watching this video big fan of yours from San Antonio, Texas.🌭😋
Glad you enjoyed
I love hot dogs. They always make me think of summer.
IM DYING FOR ONE!
Definetley going to stop by Billy’s when I get the chance. Looks awesome.
Great Video Chris As Always. Thank You.
This guy is awesome, I stopped at his cart last year. Great dogs and great prices.
Like your attitude, bles you and Billy 👍 🌭🫶🏼
Hey Chris, so many times I've said it looks to good to eat, I always get over it... Thanks for the review, always fun to watch....
Great channel Chris, I definitely would have just gone to any cart before finding your channel. Love from 🇬🇧 bro
Much appreciated!
Fun fact: The most expensive mobile food location permits in NYC are the ones in and around Central Park. Can run up to $289,500 a year for those locations. It used to be significantly more too.
And people complain about $5 hot dogs.
@@NYCHotDogStands Spoiled by halal trucks
@@nybiggs well for the amount of food you get in a chicken over rice meal why sould you pay $5 for a single hotdogs instead?
@@RichieD_21 Sometimes a man just wants a hotdog. Chris knows.
Wow 😊that was a beautiful hotdog 🌭 from the moment he took it out and placed it on the bun I could see how chubby it was
Billy's dirty water dog with sauerkraut and mustard is my NY tradition, God bless you Billy!
Chris, Ive commented on your videos before but I have to tell you, when I get homesick for NYC I watch your videos. I worked in Midtown for 30 years basically. I moved to Texas and man do I miss walking on my lunch hour looking for something to eat and sometimes hitting up the hot dog carts...Its like being home again and yes, Ive eaten the napkin too
That is awesome!
Word on the street is that Chris tried to get Billy to move his cart directly in front of his house in CT so he could eat his 'dogs daily!!
Love how you’re ready for another dawg before you even bite into the first one. Looks damn good 👍 love the videos, man
Best time of the year holiday season in New York and having a hot dog. Good job buddy had Billy’s like four times.
Hot dog 🌭 heaven..
NYC
Looks 🏆💯👏👏. What a beautiful dog!
can't wait to go back have a bills dog...
Chris, I'm enjoying your videos more and more. You come across well on camera and are a natural. As far as Billy's, he has it down to a science. Neat and clean cart, loaded with cold drinks and fresh condiments, some homemade. People laugh at these vendors but I can assure you, they are making money and lots of it. Especially Billy. Albeit he doesn't get benefits or paid holidays like us but he's not hurting by any means. He makes money on volume. Great video and keep em coming. Would love to do a Jersey hot dog crawl with you but watching your videos is good enough. Happy new year!
Beautiful day!
Best combination on a dog
Looks great!!
I didn't think there was Sabrett hot dog stands around anymore. I'm glad you found one because the Greeks were the original hot dog stand owners in NYC. Where else is there Sabrett stands? By the way corn syrup added to the onions makes it sweet.
I never knew there was a art to making hot dogs till I watched your videos.
Sabrett’s have their own proprietary onion sauce. You sell Sabrett’s you’re supposed to use their sauce.
7:30 "Mensch Lumber" with a rosary hanging off the mirror 😅
Love me that Sabretts-
Send some out to Oregon
Damn, that looks amazing!
No freebies. Thankyou for those gems. Business is business
Love your passion.
Love this video! Superlative presentation and production. Thanks for tipping us off to Billy's. I live in the Gramercy area but will definitely drive to the Upper West...at least until Congestion Pricing. $25 will then be a bit too much for a hot dog.
Thank you for the honest review!
I don't see how he does it. I truly don't. But I love him. And you're absolutely right about business. I'm opening mine in a month in the Derby City region and offerings will be in the $4-$7 range to start. $2 drinks. I didn't think to look, but does he have a tip jar? Can leave $ for freebies that way.
No tip jar because I was looking to jam some money in it. He has nothing.
OK, Billy's at W 93rd and Central Park West versus Gray's Papaya at W 72nd and Broadway. Which one is better. I'm on a bike and I usually cut over from the Greenway at W 72nd to get to Central Park. Not sure if there is a convenient path from the Greenway to W 93rd. Being on a bike, Billy's seems better as I don't have to park the bike and go inside but just not sure the best way to get there by bike from the Greenway.
It's so hard to say. I love grilled more but Billy's is special.
I wish I had two stomachs 😂
$2/$2.50...in NYC...amazing
The dogs DO look a lot bigger! Lucky you!
Looks delicious
That Frank and sausage looks so delicious.
I am from Serbia we are notes for one of the best way to prepare grill food in Europe. Leskovac is a capital city of grill. I am from.Nis city near to Leskovac. But i loved to try Billy hot dog they look awesome.
Yummy‼️
I am just starting my hotdog journey 😎
I sub'd. Love the channel ! Love dogs too.... keep it up ❤
Bacon wrap the dog use wood toothpicks. Deep fry it. Deep fry a clam cake at the same time. Caramelize diced onion and colored peppers on top. Top that with sweet chili sauce. Slice and add on clam cake top. Then glaze with tatar sauce. All on a deli fresh toasted bun
Amazing prices.🎅
Love this keep it up
Goddamn, I love this guy....and his hot "vlogs"! Cheers brother!
got to check that spot out looks slamming
You're a great man I will seee next video
Two dressed dog's on the upper West Side next to the park for less than $5.00 who knew?❤
Great hotdog- great way to die young- good luck...hahahaha..."how can you go wrong with this??" You're in great shape kid.
A lot of rock climbing.
It's all about moderation my friend.
The amount of boiled hot dogs suprises me that wont fly at a cart in canada we grill them here either bbq, flat top or rollers boiled isnt the same
Hey man there’s a hot dog stand in front of the met that’s incredible
Yes. Did a video there.
Billy is obviously a Good Man, and I bet he is very financially set that he can afford to have lower prices
For 2 dollars thats freaking fantastic
Yep!!
I love hot dogs with mustard onions relish
Love mustard and onions on the dirty water dogs, but on Gray's grilled dogs, got to have the Sabretts red onion sauce only!
can you do a review of the carts in front of the metropolitan museum of art? i hear they are good.
Good talk
It's double the price inside the park. Real NY'ers know the deal.
Great guy! Great hot dog!
That's really good for only $2. 👍
Here at 93rd and central park. No Billy. Any update?
Weekdays
@Chris' NYC Hot Dog Stands 😭😭 Hopefully we can swing by Monday! My kid and I have looking forward to meeting Billy!
how about some napkins and a drink????
Too funny!
I'm gonna hit him up for the free water 😆😉
You made me laugh with this comment 🤣
👍😎👍
I can't do the sweet onions. It's all about the spicy onions for me. Spicy onions and kraut and if it's the skinny dogs, I get a double dog with kraut and onions from my truck in red bank. G&G.
W 93rd St at Central Park West.
Is that where he is every day?
Yes!
he does it the right way puts the mustard on first.chris do you ever find carts or trucks with homemade onions?
These vendors don’t seem to like being asked questions
What's the approximate address of the cart? I'm getting upper west side just off Central Park so guessing it's about 65th St off 8th Avenue???
93rd St and Central Park West
