    In today's video, we do an Exhaust comparison for my Honda CB650. This comparison is between OEM Exhaust, Open Headers, and Ebay Shorty Mufflers. Hopefully this exhaust comparison is helpful for anyone with a Honda CB650, Honda CB550, or Honda CB750 looking to change their exhaust setup and exhaust sound.

    Always love a nice loud exhaust on these bikes as they sound awesome, but you deff get more power with something like a 4 into 1 with a good muffler. I can never make my mind up when messing with builds like this lol

    Just picked up a 1979 CB650 with 28,000km for $1000. Great shape and runs pretty good but the exhaust has a bad leak at the bolts/shield things right before the mufflers. I think I'll do something similar to what you did here with the new short mufflers. Thanks for the ideas, I'm loving the Honda CB content!

    I just inherited one of these! Do the existing mufflers need to chopped off - aka no going back to stock?

    Hello there. Currently doing the exact same build on a cb650 myself! Have come across an issue with the rear bolts on the back shocks. Bolt is scarily close to hitting the wheel, so don’t believe I have original parts. Any advice on your rear shock set up???

    • @DriversSide

      I just have the original shocks and hardware. My plan is to buy a set of shocks from 4into1 or TD motorcycle!

    Could you keep the open headers, any drawbacks or mechanical downsides?

    • @DriversSide
      @DriversSide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you could keep the open headers. There might be a slight difference in back pressure and air/fuel ratio. I don’t think there would be any completely detrimental effects on the bike. I could be wrong though

    Regulations and angry neighbors aside. Is it bad for the machine to run open headers?

    • @DriversSide
      @DriversSide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think sometimes it can cause changes in back pressure. But I don’t really think there is anything detrimental that happens to the bike from running open headers. (Please correct in the comments if you have any experience with this)

    • @TheLionAndTheLamb777
      @TheLionAndTheLamb777 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DriversSide It can cause it to run leaner exhaust that will burn hotter. Can cause pops and backfires as well as the engine to run hotter. It can also make it harder to start / idle when cold. It is much worse to run with very short or no pipes at all. That can cause severe overheat and cause the valves to burn.
