This song really captures how we can't just turn off our love for people, even when they're so bad for us. I had to move away from my parents before I could begin to heal my relationship with my dad. If you need to do the same with someone, please know that it's not always weakness to walk away. Like the song says, sometimes the bravest thing you can do is run.

So true - I broke up with my boyfriend two weeks ago. He had a lot of mental issues when I met him but he was working through them and on the right track. He's now blaming me for his life de-railing, but he wasn't looking after himself any more and I can't help someone who won't help themselves. This music video is gorgeous in every way, from the lyrics and singing to the cinematography. I love the contrast between past and present, the way it feels like history is repeating itself as we get an insight of her dad's mind. The details are also so clever; the cup on the sink along with the dirty dishes later dripping coffee, the watch on the table being on her dad's wrist, the wedding ring left alone and the different shots of each character running across the field, hesitantly looking behind like they know they have to leave but it tears them apart to do so. Brilliant, I wish I'd seen this sooner!

My first time hearing this song. Never heard something like this that talks about the hurt and the need to leave, but at the same time also acknowledges the love. It's validating. He was horrible to me but I still miss and love him, despite it all. It's one thing to be left with the scars, but to be left with the love as well... it's a whole different pain

Taylor sent the finished song to Little Big Town for them to have a listen and decide if they wanted to cut it or not. People do not understand that Taylor is quite the musician as well and is often mistaken as being the type of artist that only contributes the odd lyric here and there. If that were the case Taylor Swift would be spelled C-A-R-R-I-E U-N-D-E-R-W-O-O-D!!!

Being in a verbal abusive this song resonates with what I had gone through. Had he been a better man. We could of been together. Instead I had to run. I'm currently going through the hardest thing I've ever gone through. My boyfriend and love of 3years cheated on me many times and i had to leave, and I am very much struggling. It's been weeks since and today is the first day I've even listened to music. This song explains exactly what I am going through. Sad that after all these years and too late I wanna grow up🙄. Things do get better, thats what I keep telling myself its not the end of the world. After all you put yourself in the situation, you can get yourself out of it. I almost cried when I saw your comment. I wonder if my children's father ever thinks that. Or if he never will. I just can't tell with him but either way it's heart wrenching not only that I had to run from him but take my children with me too and he never came for us. He moved on to the next love of his life a week later. Probably sooner then that. I still wake up reaching out to touch him and think about him constantly and it's been a long time now. I can't even be with a better man because my heart is stuck with him. I don't want a better man I want him to be a better man but at the same time , as bad as I wish we could go back , I can't. I can't do that after seeing him "love " another woman and her child when he neglected me and ours for so long. I'm sure he does have regrets but even so he made his choice. I love him but that chapter ended and now I just don't have the courage to turn the next page. I'm just stuck

This song hits so close to home. I ended a 4 year relationship with a man that I planned to marry and start a family with. I discovered 2-1/2 years into the relationship that he is an addict and had been abusing opioids for many years. His addiction got worse and he turned emotionally and mentally abusive. If you have experience with what meth and heroin can do to a person, then you may understand what I'm talking about. It was a very bad situation and I had to make the tough decision to end the relationship 5 months ago. I'm constantly haunted by the "what if's". I wish he had gotten the help he needed when there was still hope to have the future we wanted together. I wish he had been a better man, not just for me, but for himself and his family.
