*WHAT ARE 'SONGS OF 24?' This is a series loosely celebrating the fact we're (at time of posting) in the year '24' (that's 2024 folks), by listening to and/or revisiting songs with some connection to that number (the specific connection for this entry will be detailed above!).
ABOUT ME AND THE CHANNEL:
Welcome to Acting is Reacting! I'm Joe or JSB (snappier than my full double-barrelled monstrosity of a name!), a New Zealand born and London (UK)
based music-obsessed actor who loves diving into sounds old and new. Join me on a musical journey as I explore and react to a wide range of genres, notably singer/songwriters, classic rock and prog - but much more besides - nothing is off the table! I'll cover artists I've loved since childhood -The Beatles, Billy Joel, Chicago, Gordon Lightfoot, Queen - right up to modern indie rock from Sam Fender, Giant Rooks and The Killers (to name a few), plus stuff from in between - Marillion, Toto, Rush...I could go on all day (and often do!). Whether it’s my first time hearing a song or the thousandth, I aim to share my genuine reactions and insights with you.
But wait, there's more...occasionally, I'll be taking a look at some of the projects I've been involved in as an actor, offering a unique 'self-reaction' to my work in the entertainment industry.
If you share my love for music and enjoy discovering new sounds, or if you're curious about the behind-the-scenes of acting, hit that subscribe button and join the community. Let’s enjoy this musical adventure together! - เพลง
Forgot to mention...Queen also had a double A-side single reach #24 in the US, so I'll get to those two tracks another day - first person who can name them correctly will win...erm...the internet for a week!!
Bicycle Race/Fat Bottomed Girls!
Such an incredible song that enhanced a great movie. Not long after we learned that our Freddie would NOT live much longer. Heartbreaking to listen to today.
Thanks for watching Joyce and, yes, I vividly remember Freddie's announcement (followed so swiftly by his passing), and this is one of those tunes that took on a deeper meaning for sure. JSB.
Maybe not for ever. But the years do go by very fast.
I'm sure I'll be stuck with you for a good many years yet Steve (and wouldn't have it any other way, obvs!). :D
Interesting true story. I was listening to a radio show in the North East called Nightowls. Half way through they always played a song. A song had been requested from a guy who's wife had been ill, they could only play it this one night. It was the night Freddie's death was announced literally minutes before the music break. That song was 'Who wants to live forever'.
Oh wow, that's spooky!
