Arguably one of the best episodes of Buffy.

To me, it's clear that Buffy did love Spike. Would she have acted the way she did with him with her other friends? She grew beyond using him the way she did in S6 - why would wiser, more mature Buffy sleep in his arms, gaze into his eyes all night, hold him close, & say he was in her heart, when she knew he was completely in love with her? I think better of Buffy than to think she would use or lead him on like that by S7. That's also why I believe she meant it when she said, "I love you."
I totally agree, and made this same point to someone when I complained about how that scene where Buffy walks down the stairs to Spike (season 7, last episode, Chozen) with no hooking up shown (just fade to black), thereby cheating the story arcs of those characters (after all, she went to him), and cheating us as the audience, and lastly, cheated us Spuffys. It flew in the face of all human emotion, and decent writing. I still yell at my TV when I get to that part lol. No! Bad Joss! The least he could've done was have Buffy walk to Spike with open arms, take him in a tight embrace and kiss him passionately; more loving, more evidence of love from her, than penetrating sex would have been.
Even if she didn't, I would say Spike earned her love.
Everything changed when Spike let Glory torture him and never gave up Dawn. All with "no soul."
"I won't forget this" --Buffy. After that she is loyal to him.
She did love him. He was her first adult love. And he more than proved his love for her. They were perfect together. Angel was her first love as a young girl who had just turned 17. But with Spike she was 22 and she shared such a tender protective love with him. He more than earned her love by fighting to get his Soul back for her. And In the end he not only earned her respect, but won her heart as well.❤❤❤
OMG! I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE ONLY JUST DISCOVERED THIS TV SHOW! And it's been who knows how long since it stopped airing!

I used to watch this show when I was way too young for it cause my mom and her cousin were in love with it...now I'm watching it all over again and I love it so much! And it helps with the book I'm writing and this song??? Perfect for my book!! Go Joss! Loved the Avengers btw :)
I always think of 'Conversations with Dead People' the beginning of a new era of Buffy. When you never knew what would happen, and everything had you on tenterhooks. As much as I adore all the other seasons, it was after this episode that I had a terrified thrill after watching every episode thinking about what would happen next. The First was the first "villain" that did that to me.
I am 13 and I have watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer since I was a baby. I own all of the seasons :D

An Angie Hart song on/for Buffy? Far out!!! Untill I saw all the Buffy comments I was surpised to see it was uploaded by such a young person. I remember getting nothing but blank/confused looks from people at record shops (are they still called that?) a few years ago when I was asking if they had frente. All 3 places I went to had no idea who I was talking about.

i say what joss said. of course he told her to act as if she was really in love, shes paid to be an actress. but joss said he never intended for the buffy to be in love with spike. that spikes love for buffy was one way and she did love him but not the same way. he stated that it was more of a love like what she feels for the rest of her friends.

Why doesn't Spotify have this but they've got almost every other song that's even referenced on the show?
joss whedon stated that buffy loved spike as she loved her friends (such as xander and willow) and that she was IN love with angel. i believe the character had feelings, but not that she was in love considering joss saying otherwise and considering spike and buffy's interpersonal situation when she said she loved him.
I'm one of the very few but I just don't understand how she could love Angel so much when there was nothing deep about their relationship. She fell in love with him at 15-16...when you definitely don't know who you are yet and every relationship is shallow at that age. Even in s6 with Spike it was very shallow but s7 was when I started to see it differently. Can't say the same for Angel. I just never got them.

Better you take a look at the book comics or some interviews with the writers and joss whedon. It makes pretty clear that Buffy loved Spike as much as she loved Angel.

And it's okay for you, but you know... that isn't the reality. There are people saying that Buffy didn't love Spike and his love was not reciprocal, but that's quite wrong... the truth is, Buffy did love Spike and these comments are just interpretations that contradict the canon series.
