As the Peptidoglycan layer of gram positive is thicker than G -ve it retains the stain. G -ve being thinner gets perforated due to the alcohol effect and loses stain.

Why peptidoglycan of G-ve gets perforated (loosing the stain) whereas of G+ve gets dehydrated (retaining the stain) ?
