    I purchased the Scansnap iX1600 after watching your previous review and absolutely love it.
    It has become my go to scanner for the ease of use and functionality.
    Thank you Sean for your unbiased and detailed reviews.

      I'm really glad to hear that. Thank you for letting me know. You are most welcome. I've been using mine extensively since it came out and it really is a great scanner. 😊👍

    Proud owner of a ScanSnap S1300. Been using it for years but it's time to look at an upgrade. There is so much more I want to scan so the first thing I would scan with an iX1600 would be my family photos to preserve them better and share. I'd also complete the task of emptying the file cabinets of all the papers I've accumulated over the years. It's an ongoing battle that I think we all deal with. Fingers crossed with the drawing.

    Hi from Japan. Your videos are so helpful-thank you! As an academic scanning student work and papers,I’ve used Fujitsu scanners for over 10 years, and all of my models are the s series.
    I’m set to upgrade and your videos are so helpful in the decision about upgrading.
    I think it’ll be the 1600 for the office and 1300 for home use!
    Thanks again for the fair and unbiased reviews!

    Hi Sean, can two people in a household, with two separate computers and two separate iphones, share the iX1300? Can it be linked to two different users’ devices?

    The first things I'd scan with a ScanSnap iX1600 are a whole host of old magazine articles I've clipped over the years. I have an S1300i and it's a great little scanner but... Big projects deserve the best tools to accomplish successfully.

    I have a large number of family photos of various sizes to scan. So I would like to scan them quickly, without having to adjust the guide, or indicate the photo dimensions before scanning.
    It seems that ix1300 can do this. Is that correct? Also, can the ix1600 also be used for the same purpose?

    I have 10 year old (works great) Scansnap ix500 wondering if the scanning quality has changed in the last 10 years and if it is worth upgrading to the ix1600, everyday use is just for scanning documents like utility bills etc, currently scanning old photos in Apple photos, any recommendations?

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Eddie. The scan quality between the iX500 and iX1600 is quite similar, as both offer up to 600 dpi and 24-bit color. The key difference is in speed (the iX1600 is faster at 40 pages per minute) and improved software features like automatic image cleanup and better OCR. These updates make the iX1600 more efficient, but in terms of pure scan quality, both are on par. The iX1600 is also more user-friendly with a touchscreen. Hope this helps!

    Hi, i would like to ask you two questions. Can ix1600 scan thick documents as ids, and passports? Which of those scanners has less paper jams? For my job its crusial to can scan thin or old papers as well as normal a4 80 grams papers and this feature is very importand for choosing the right scanner. Thanks

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi there. For the first question, the iX1600 cannot scan passports. This is important to keep in mind. As for the second question about paper jams, I have never had a paper jam with my iX1600. I have had some paper jams with the auto-document feeder on the iX1300 but never with the front return scanner, unless I was trying to scan something that was too big or too thick. If you go with either scanner and are scanning old or fragile documents, you may want to scan using a carrier sheet to help protect whatever you are scanning. Is that helpful information?

    Thank you for the great video tutorials, and the comparison on these two scanners. I just purchased the iX1300 through your amazon link, and pretty impressed with the speed of the scanner for multiple page PDF documents. However, I ran into a problem with multiple pages being in the reverse order, Is there a solution to this problem?

    • @SeanDillman
      @SeanDillman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are most welcome. Thank you for purchasing with my link. Have you found a solution to the issue yet? Have you tried using different orientations? For example, if you have a stack of 10 documents, in that order, did you stack them from one to ten (one being on the top) and then lay them face down (one facing against the machine) before you start your scan job?

    I'd really like to see reviewers of these scanners try scanning received letters and bills --- meaning that there is a fold or series of folds in the document --- and not just perfectly flat & smooth printouts. This (folded paper) is my primary need for scanning and not a single review seems to cover this.

    Have you tried the Canon ImageFORMULA R40?
    The article I link to below compares several scanners. The body of the article makes the Canon sound better than the iX1600, but the conclusion says the iX is "best in class",. The Canon s the top scanner on every item in their chart except for speed. (It tied on one item with another scanner.) The OCR is better on the Canon. The only thing that the iX1600 was #1 for was speed. (67 ppm) The Canon was in 2nd place, lagging far behind. (40ppm) Someone said in an Amazon review that it only gets this speed at 200dpi.
    The Canon also has a TWAIN driver, the iX does not.
    The Canon has to be plugged in to USB. (The Canon R50 does not, but is more expensive.)
    In the iX review, referring to OCR, "It is not as accurate as other scanners we tested and missed a significant amount of words." I would think that would be a deal breaker. They say it is good with photos. (I saw you and another commenter agreeing that it had issues with photos.) They say the Canon is good.
    Their conclusion makes it sound like the iX is better! I don't know why after reading both reviews. Who cares if it is faster but not as good? Maybe it is due to the touch screen, but they scored the Canon better in software and user friendliness.

    Many video reviews spend as much time telling you what they are going to tell you or show you as they do showing you. This video is a great example. The incessant self advertising also irritates and sends me looking elsewhere. I'm sure some of his info was valuable and he is sincere but I came for a hands on review and don't have all day for self sell. In seminars and courses it is appropriate to spend 20 percent of time telling you what you are going to learn. But not in quick review TH-cam's.

    I have owned the 1300 for about 8 yrs and it's still going strong. The only problem I have now is that I have to keep one laptop with WIN7 so I can use my 1300 for scanning articles or books because you don't have the Linux OS in your system. Which seems odd to me because all major business' use Linux Servers and some would like to use Linux OS as their main system. Give mea call when you start using the Linux OS also. Thanks.
