      Norm, have you ever thought of doing an amazon wishlist so supporters can gift you things you'd like to do for an upcoming video? Camping gear or specific things for your apartment or for video content? I would totally be up for pitching in for something like that? (I know you're really humble so it'd probably sounds like to you "hey...buy me stuff if you want" and you're definitely not like that...but I thought it'd be an option! ;-) )

    Oh my goodness Norm, my auntie had that carved table! She spent many years living in Asia and that table was one of the items she brought home to Scotland with her in the 70's! Hers had a glass top and also little shaped tables / stools that slotted in between the table legs for storage. They had the same carvings on the legs as the big table. Aww, that's brought back so many memories Norm, thank you so much! I've not seen the table in over 30 years so I may have shed a wee tear when I saw it in the video. Happy, happy memories :)

    As a manager of a thrift store, I can appreciate why some of the cooler items would be priced in the lower range (this is the short answer). When you have an item that will be handled more than some others, it's best to price it to sell rather than risk it being damaged if it stays too long.

    Had to look up this Casio FD-10. Turns out it is an attachment for a camera called the Casio QV-10, which is actual the first ever digital camera with an LCD screen. This FD-10 allowed you to directly copy the pictures onto a 3.5" floppy disk.

    At 0:28 is a zen garden used indoors by people who don’t have the yard space to set one up outside. It is also used by older people who find it harder and harder to perform the necessary upkeep that goes along with an outside zen garde. It helps with meditation, to release anxiety, and promote a sense of calm and focus, especially if you have a stress filled life. One of my mother’s “friends” had one at his parents house that I would play with when I was younger. Haven’t seen one in over 30 years, awesome find!

    • @rachelcookie321
      @rachelcookie321 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I saw it, the first thing it reminded me of was a tabletop zen garden. Like business men buy for their desk but never use. So I was on the right track, it’s just a bigger version.

    The Casio FD-10 you found is an awsome piece of tech history: Casio released the QV-10, the first digital camera with an LCD screen, in early 1995. The FD-10 could be attached to the camera directly to copy the photos to a floppy so you could take more than the ~90 (incredibly low resolution) pictures that fit the camera storage without needing to copy them to a computer first.
    I never had one, I was just two months old when it was released, but I stumbled upon it when digging through the modern day history of photography.

    The great thing about second-hand stores is you learn so very much about the people who live, and have previously lived, in area by walking through one. Not only by the content, but by how they price things too tells a tale of what the store thinks people will want most. You can also see what was a huge trend at some point if there's a lot of something odd, like the ice-cream makers or the polaroid cameras.

    Good morning, Norm! I've watched the thrift shop tours before you've done, but that first one was wild in comparison, between the layout and pricing. Reminds me of the local church thrift shops here. Love the work you do and hope the broken finger won't hold you back!

    Thrift stores in japan are my favourite! They're extremely interesting and fun to visit whenever I feel bored. Sometimes you find crazy deals for items that should've been more expensive such as electronics, gadgets or home stuff. I copped an excellent condition dyson vacuum cleaner w/charger for 8000 yen about a week ago!

    I love thrift stores, it’s so much fun to find unique furniture and stuff, even if I can’t afford to buy it. The hunt is part of the fun. If I ever make it to Japan I’m afraid of how much I will want to buy and bring back home!

    I liked both stores. The first because I love the amazing interesting furniture.
    The second one because I am a big anime figure collector. While the exchange rate makes it a good time to buy figures(got a small refund of money from a figure site a few weeks ago because of the drastic exchange rate change), the problem is those deals online that one might find, are ate up in shipping costs.
    Shipping rates to me have become downright criminal in amount. If I buy anything from Japan, I have find a large haul to buy all at once, because while the shipping prices are insane, they don't go up a whole lot with the more you order.

    hi Norm, love your channel and videos. Its my first time watching your videos and instantly watched 3 more after the first one. Love your content. Btw, I haven’t checked out all your videos but have you ever done japanese thrift shops featuring sneakers and apparels? Just curious. Thanks and more blessings to you! 🇨🇦

    Seven minutes in, and I am incredibly impressed by this store. There is no way I would have been able to leave without that tool chest. Too much stuff I'd love to have.
