*WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE ITEM? LET ME KNOW BELOW!*
\😃/ been waiting all week for your uploads. Great to see to see u all the time!
My favourite thing wasn’t in your video but found on the website you linked, an Astroboy teapot!!
It's actually crazy how many cool things people give away/throw out! One persons junk really is another persons treasure
truly treasure!
Especially the hair dryers, they don't look too old
My brother lives in Sapporo and he found a perfect working condition PSP with games in his apartment recycling room 😳
@@terenceyuen4424 yo that's insane.
I never had a PSP, about the time I thought about investing because I love PlayStation it kind of died out in the US so I backpedalled and got a PS4 instead
Some items also may be from deceased japanese (after cleansing)
The amount of anxiety I experienced when you swiped everything on the floor was insane. Also, lightning spood is my new default speed. 😂
LOL it was actually so bad that I needed to cut the audio from it hahaha
You’re amazing, Norm! Rebuilding the smallest electronics shop to preserve the owner’s legacy, creating and encouraging giveaways to bring people to Japan who have always wanted to visit, helping local businesses expand their reach through comments on your videos. Plus more I’m sure we’re not even aware of! You’re such a positive force for good in the world!
I know, right!? I hope he's still in contact with the shop owner (I forget his name 😢) and can invite him over for a visit. I think that'd be super wholesome!
The pink bubble wrap on that stick of RAM is anti-static packaging! But most of that plastic is kind of a waste... :)
As a professional computer nerd, this was a lot of fun to see, and I'm excited for the shop recreation too! Thanks for sharing your energy.
Not exactly the same thing, but I purchased a joblot of junk art supplies in Japan about a year or two ago and most of what arrived was completely unused - there was a set of gansai tambi paint which had been very lightly used, and a tin of fancy pencils that had been used a little bit, but some of the other materials were completely unopened, and all the rest looked like they'd not been used apart from maybe to test the colours/pigments :D
There are so many interesting items, some are very worth it and some are not really useful. But the best part of these boxes are the excitement you can get as you are unboxing. You can feel some nostalgia too🥰I enjoyed Norm’s reactions and comments a lot! Thank you for another wonderful video!😆✨
Yuka!! Seems you just released a new video today too eh!!
Ill have to check that one out!! Love Narita airport~
Thanks for always being here for the release of new vids!
man to think that each item holds so many memories like if we were able to hear what these things have to say it would be so beautiful like imagine some used that cd player a long time ago sitting on a window pane looking at the sky and listening to music, I love it.
You are literally doing what I want to do in my life I hope that one day I'll also be able to visit abandoned and beautiful places and I hope that I'll also get a chance to do stuff like caping on a rooftop in the middle of a city
I hope that you can too!!
Japanese junk is literally a roulette, even if it's described as "not working", it still may be like brand new and fully functional 😆
RIGHT?! what's up with that??
These boxes are pretty impressive. That controller at 6:40 is a grip for either a DS or a 3DS, I believe. Pretty handy to avoid cramps when playing long hours on those.
Thanks for this interesting video!
Absolutely insane that the first item you take out of the box is the exact model of Belken wireless charger that I have sitting on my bedside table and use every night.
Can't wait to see the recreated shop! its amazing how many amazing things you can find second hand like this. Also as an additional note the edit where it switches to you in the purple hoodie caught my eye and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Can't wait either!!
Honestly so much fun to work on!!
This was fun! The discman brings back happy memories. I travelled across Australia by train with one, from east to west, in the early 2000s. My biggest adventure and how I ended up where I live now. Thank you for the reminder. Looking forward to the videos you have coming, Norm. I bet the shop rebuilt will look amazing! 😊
That is awesome that second hand shop started an online store. I hope it helps their business out. Mom and Pops stores are the best.
Your studio is the stuff dreams are made of, you've blown my mind with the shop corner, genius
Love these kinds of videos Norm! It gives me ideas of what to load up my suitcase with next time I visit 🤣
I'm excited to see all the updates to your studio since we were there. That you're revealing the tiny shop you're rebuilding, that you have more remotes to confuse with Coffee Crisp, and that the Burn Up W record is now on the wall!
I loved that pink Sony mp3 player! I used to want one of those. Those $20 boxes really were something. I hope the IPhone and IPad work! I still have a 2016 IPhone SE that I use as a glorified mp3 player at work. Still works!
I think it’s awesome that you’re rebuilding the electronics shop, I can’t wait to see it when it’s complete! Favorite item is a toss up between the Discman and the pink hair dryer, cause sometimes you just need to feel pretty while you’re lip syncing and getting ready in the morning 😂
This was quite a haul, it's kinda exciting to see what you find in the boxes. 😁
I love my sakuraco box! I got it after I came home from Japan so I could keep enjoying the amazing snacks!
It's like a mystery box for electronics! Hehehe I love the mini shop you're restocking! It was so cool to get to see it in person!
Much love from Arizona 💜💜
🤣 You crack me up Norm. The way you just throw things around and push everything off the table... if anything did work, it probably doesnt anymore.😆🤣
“Unfortunately Sticky” is my new band name. Loving the retro game posters on the wall!
Yay a new video! I needed this today!
Just found your channel and already found many places I want to visit so now I have to adjust my plan for my trip this year
Happy Sunday Norm!❤
Another cool "mini" adventure - I agree with the other comments: it is crazy what Japanese throw away considering how good the condition is. I think your shop is gonna turn out well. Good luck putting on the finishing touches.
Can't wait for your upcoming video with Okazaki-san - her perspective is always interesting. Cheers.
Thank you for posting the link to the antique shop. I will keep my eye on it, so many goodies!
Look forward to checking the thrift shop every week for a Goban. Thanks for the update and glad you got some useful items in the boxes.
Thanks Norn, was great seeing all devices. It's really surprising how well kept some of them were
Gosh I love your content!! Thank you!
Mystery boxes can be so addicting, especially once you find some cool stuff! There’s not much worse than random sticky old tech stuff though. 🤢
Thank you for another fun video! 😊
It really is!
I miiiight be buying more lol
@@TokyoLens if you keep finding great things in them I can’t say I blame you! 🤣
I absolutely love your videos! They alway feels so intimate and make me feel like I'm actually there with you
I love that!! It's 100% the goal! So thank you~
your videos are just so fun to watch, I usually play videos at x2 speed but for yours I just wanna enjoy them
Wow, I've spent the last couple weeks watching your videos and I'm loving Japan! What a beautiful place, and the electronics markets are insane. As an Aussie gamer, I'm totally jealous of the retro and vintage stuff you can find.
Can't wait for the future videos!
I love these kinds of videos, all the buying other peoples things videos, you never know what to expect!
The studio is really coming along! I'm looking forward to seeing the small electronics shop set up!
i have the red sony walkman mp3 player from the very last box. was an A- series walkman from the early 2010s. i had a line-out cable to a fiio amp. it was my broke-university-student setup for many years.
i knew it!!!! i knew you were going to rebuild that store ❤ absolutly love it
that was kinda awesome. not sure what it is about unboxing videos, but it feels kinda like opening lootboxes. but irl.
very lightning spood
Hello from Pasadena California. Always great to see your videos ❤
I'm intrigued by those Rilakkuma tapes because I love Rilakkuma!! So awesome you got an iPad!!
You're an absolute legend mate!!
Love your videos,so keep them coming,ok.
That 7th-gen iPad is a big win, those are still supported and run the current OS (even this fall's upcoming OS)
Wife and I booked our next trip finally!! We will be back to visit japan finally, now with our small child along with for the first time. You may remember my child from august 2021 down here in Australia! I'm totally keen to visit these same stores too and grab some junk game consoles for some art projects. I wonder how many i can fit in my suitcase!! Japan end of November, here we come!
That’s great Norm your recreating the old shop!!!! 🤛🏻
My Favorite thing is You rebuilding That Guys Akiba Electronic Shop, '' BRILLIANT ". That was a Great Video , was so sad he was going out of business .
Dude these boxes are awesome. I would try something like that out over here for sure. PS - the office is looking awesome!
t is so interesting to see what you can get from these kind of boxes. ^^ And i cant wait to see the shop in full glory! this vid truly went by in lightning spuud. XD
"Lightning Spood!!" ^_^ Thanks for making me smile this morning!! I loved the walkman from your Patreon video the most. I cannot wait to see your new display!
Just saw the bit about that store in Japan having an online store now. Omg! I'm gonna get into so much trouble now. Thanks Norm! And I think it's cool you recreated that little tech store. What a sweet memorial.😊
When I was in Akihabara, I got too much stuff and needed a new suitcase. I will say that suitcase is now my favorite one. Too much tech, not enough time. The plan was Akihabara and Ginza that day, but we never made it to Ginza. Next time though.
hahahaha Chris I LOVE that
Well, it seems like you had some decent luck with your adventure boxes. This little gem videos are fun to see, because it's easy to go on the scavenging adventure with you. Thanks for it!
Amazing stuff Norm!
had a blast with this one!
From the first box the mask is probably a heated Bluetooth face massager. 😆 I love mine because it helps with migraines and I can listen to podcasts or music at the same time. Cell phones, cables, Switch controller holders, these boxes have been worth every Yen. Continuing to watch to see what else shows up 🎉 💜✌🐦
pretty sure that's exactly hat it was
it was just..... too sticky haha
@@TokyoLens🤣 🤢 😅
The I Pad 7. I could use one with wi-fi for school. Also, I like that you named the robot Emilio LOL. Reminds me of a funny friend I had before.
Dude! What a wonderful homage to that tiny little shop!! I love that.
Also quick question about the record covers you have on display, what musicians did you choose?
Let's goooooooooooo old junk is always so fun to check out cause there's always something cool 👀
always something amazing~
Great video Norm
Another dose of dopamin from our dear Norm. A lot of charm, charisma and positive energy as always.
Love this! I can’t believe that all of that is considered junk. I mean some is but most of it is cool. I like the Walkman to be honest. Another great video.
I actually gasped, I am so excited to see your recreation of Shimayama-sans shop~
The studio is looking SO GOOD!
That's quite the haul!
I love your studio. Wish i can have a space like this.
I think I used to have that exact Discman portable CD player back in the day 😂. Can't wait to see the videos you make with your tiny shop set-up in the studio 😊
Omg I thought i recognized Emiglio! Ahh my childhood :') I want shops to sell those boxes in Italy too!
i realy loved the ipad that you found ;o huge find!
This is just genius for businesses needling to get rid of junk that they plan to throw away, instead put it in a box, sell it for $5, now the junk is the customer's problem and no longer theirs and they make some change from it, haha. Honestly though I am suprised to see at least some useful things and everything seems to work.
I had an iPhone like the last one. Served me well from 2013 to 2019
I haven’t seen a Walkman since 2004! Love that Japan doesn’t throw away items, but collects them for later use.
About the phone with the pin, just search how to do the reset to factory mode, normally you can hold a combination of buttons to enter in like a bios system and there it is simple to do it
I absolutely love that you do this kind of stuff. You're gonna make me buy a box of junk when I come back to Japan lol.
This was fun. This was a wild ride of nostalgia.
Aaaah, I want that Sony Walkman MP3 player, I love those and have the cable to charge them!!
It's create that Japan has such a recycling and second hand culture, where you don't have to pay a fortune to get used stuff. Furthermore, it's always fun to see what crazy things you can find.
my dude i LOVE that studio what a good space to hang and be creative big open room i dig it...send that tape to Sharla she likes fancy tape..dude i love the tiny shop rebuild too i remember you going to see that old guy can't wait for that unveiling
I remember when your studio was so bare! I can see how you added parts as you went. Congrats!
That pink plastic around the RAM is for ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection, and with the phones, just ROM the Android and Jailbreak the iPhone, and you also get rid of the shutter sound.
I love going to these old tech stores in Japan, always something cool to find, the problem is that it piles up at home instead 😂
My favorite is probably the portable CD player, I am thinking of getting a retro stereo setup with a vinyl player, CD player, mini-disk player, and even a good DVD/Blu-ray player.
I actually own one of those handheld paper scanners, they're amazing!
LETS GOOO NEW TOKYO LENS VIDEO!!
and a fun one at that!!
Recently discovered your channel I love your production style
The iPad was kind of a huge find! Did you decide what you're going to do with it yet?
Used goods in Japan are nuts. I got a barely used Zelda TotK-themed OLED Switch when I was in Kita-Kyushu last month and I think I paid less than $220 for it. Perfect condition!
Not sure why I haven't got you in my feed, been having to watch everything manually, but glad to see you rebuilding the shop. Can't wait to see the finished video. Soon I'll be making my first trip to Japan and the misses has a few places she wants to show me (she was stationed there while in the Navy). It'd be awesome to see you in passing, just to say hi as a fan.
That’s so cool that you rebuilt the tiny shop
MDs are the best media format released in the last 50 years. They were far ahead of their time.
Yesss, the little electronics shop is being rebuilt
OK, so those boxes would be so much fun, although I used to be in retail, and I totally understand the concept. Always good to wake up to a Norm video!
best
boxes
ever
Great video, as always! Crazy that you can get a mystery tech box with cool stuff in it if you lucky :D
I know!!
I feel very lucky!
I stayed in that Apa hotel next door to this store last month while on my Akihabara shopping spree and bought several things at this store :D Loved the place.
Headed over to check out their online shop now🎉
so happy that it exists!
If I can find a link…
I meant the shop in Kyoto that you said had an online shop now…. But maybe finding the url is a research project left to the pigeons 😊
One Man's junk is another Man's treasure. I would love to have a go at this :)
100% couldnt agree more!
I think the iPad was the coolest find :D
Great video! God bless! Praying for you
My favourite item was your sheer joy when opening the boxes
Cool video idea. I love old tech
Me too!
Lightning spood XD The ipad was probably my favorite, that'd be a neat find at that price!
As someone who loves to tinker with electronics, I'd love to grab one of those boxes for myself and just tear the broken stuff apart to repair the repairable stuff too. Maybe even play around with the smartphones and remove region locks, add custom roms, or even turn them to a replacement motorcycle digital display coz why not.
The sealed blue minidisc!!!
