    I just completed this service and have the following comments to add:
    1. For the most part the video is accurate, including the part about the difficulty in removing the airbox. What a PITA.
    2. There is a "check bolt" which normally you would use as the fill hole but in this case, it is way too small and only allows a small amount of fluid to go out at a time when filled. I would have never found it except for the fact that the parts guy at the dealership let me look at the drawing and he showed me which one it was. It is much smaller than I was expecting and they didn't even have a washer for it. The interesting thing is that apparently my car was a little overfilled from the factory as I had a pretty steady stream when I first opened this check bolt.
    3. The recommended torque on the drain and fill plugs is 32 ft. lbs.
    4. My car took a little more than the specified 2.27 quarts before it started to drip from the check bolt. I would say it was about 2.4 quarts. At least it will allow me to do another change and only buy 2 new quarts to finish.
    I hope this helps anyone else that wants to try this on their own. Since this procedure is different from most other DIY's on youtube and because they stopped making the 6-speed manual on this Accord, there might not be too many more videos on the subject. Good luck.

      I think you should add fluid until Fluid drips out from the check bolt. That's how you know enough is in there.

    Great vid, thanks! Hardest part was removing the corroded belly pan fasteners and screws!
    I put the front end up on ramps for easier access underneath, and the drain position is helped by the slope. Got over 2 1/2 QT out, so the 2.27qt spec seems to have a lot of freeway... Compromised on 2.4qt back in.
    Tip: my upper fill Port was not difficult to remove, but a good practice is to always make sure the fill plug is loose before removing the drain plug!

      @@markmayberry9994it took a LOT of force. When it came loose I thought it broke, but it was fine. Key was to make sure to use the fewest extensions and keep pressure down in the bolt.

    Great video! Thanks! Was told that the manual trans fluid should be changed at 60k which sounded suspicious to me, but am planning on doing it regardless. I generally get over 300k out of my Hondas before I’m done with them so anything to make them work longer is good by me

    • @kevinedwards9163
      @kevinedwards9163  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got the capacity spec from a Honda dealer. Unfortunately there is no dipstick etc. The only way to truly know how much is in there is if you drain it and then refill the exact amount. A lot of newer vehicles are like this.
