In the process of doing first transmission oil change at 34k thanks for the knowledge spreading it sir 💯and thanks for this vid I was prepared more for how far the fluid flew out the drain bolt I made little to no mess 😁
Thank you for making this video. I also liked how the fluid hit the drain bolt and splashed out a second time because that's the kind of things that happen to me when I work on my own car! Perfect video, even including the exterior diameter of the vinyl tubing you used for the refill!
Thank you so much for this! I’ve had this saved since my first disastrous transmission fluid change. I had the wrong size bottle pump (larger diameter) so each quart of fluid had to be cut for the pump to fit. Then I had to hold the bottle and pump while pumping underneath the car. With each pump fluid would spill out of the fill hole. Disaster. I changed the fluid again today using your method with the funnel/ tubing from the top of the engine (thank you for the amazon link) It was perfect! Super easy and did not spill/ leak out 1 drop. 🎉
Just got my 2018 2.0 accord touring feb 1st and I noticed 2 days later my car would jerk from 1st to 2nd gear and sometimes under deceleration I hope changing my fluid would fix the issues so I called my Honda dealership and they said $355 for the service so thank you for this video definitely is gonna save me a couple bucks and hopefully this will fix my 1st to second gear problem because ik the rdx with the same transmission we’re having a problem/recall with it
I’m curious if your cars in the US comes with transmission cooler from the factory, because here in Saudi Arabia every accord from 2018+ comes with one even the 1.5t!! I installed a custom PID to know the reading and i was surprised, it never reached 90c even in city traffic!! Well done Honda
How often would you recommend changing it ? Fluid didn’t look to bad when it was draining, that was best idea so far I have seen running the hose and funnel at the top of the motor 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I filled it up with 5 quarts with some leakage, after taking out the level check plug nothing came out, but I drove it for 10 mins and everything was good, transmission was shifting faster than it did before the drain and fill even. Should I try adding in another quart tomorrow?
I did mine at 20k, but typically they’re done around 30k or when the 3 number comes up on the maintenance minder. Did mine early since it was have some jerkiness to it and some rough shifting

When I did this only then did I have dripping fluid. I’m hoping you didn’t overfill yours due to you having dripping but not even close to operating temp. Just a thought.
I did take the car out first to warm up everything before starting the change, and the change took around 30 mins, not enough to fully let it cool down
Hey guys, i just did my car thanks to this video, thank you first off. So what i discovered is, i did everything properly added prob 4.6 just to make sure i wouldnt have to fill again. Official instructions to check fluid level: Warm engine at idle speed to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on twice). Check the ATF level right after shifting the transmission through all the positions/modes (P-R-N-S-2nd-S-D-N-R-P) for at least 3 sec each and turning the engine off. Other vans were not an option for us.
What are you using for a jack point on that passenger side between the doors? I was under the impression there is not an acceptable point there. Thanks.
I used a pinch weld jack adapter on the sides in front of the B pillar and haven’t had issues with it, so long as the jack stands themselves are on the reinforced parts of the pinch weld. The right spots are the rear by the gas tank and front on the subframe. Issues I’ve found with those spots is that the rear doesn’t actually lift the car high enough to get a stand underneath sometimes, and the front is pretty far in and the jack can get caught sometimes
@@Qius_Carsinteresting. I was not aware of these pinch weld jack adapters. Will look into that. As for the approved jack points, you're right--they're hard to get to. Glad someone finally did the 10 speed! I use two 2" x 8" x 2' boards in front of the tires. If you ever need to lift the front of the car, just drive the car on the boards and the extra 1.5 inches of height is enough to get a low profile jack under the front of the car to the center jack point. However, when I need the car to be high and level (like a transmission oil change) instead of jack stands, I just use 4 car ramps (drive up on the front set, jack up the rear of the car and slide the other two ramps under the rear tires). Doing it this way, I feel the car is level. I don't have to worry if I have my front and back jack stands are at the same height (I have two different brands). On mine (same year and model), it took a little less than 4.5 quarts. I changed mine at 32K and plan to do again at 60K and every 30K miles. Dealerships and even independent shops want $400+ for this service, which is just a drain and fill! They must think we are fools!
Oh it has a filter. If you unbolt the cooler it sits right behind that inside the trans. Honda doesn't recommend replacing it unless you have a failure. Especially since you have to drop the trans to get cooler off because of the frame rails. So it's not worth dropping for a filter I guess.

For the Accord 10 speeds, its 4.5 quarts. 4.8 quarts is only for certain Odyssey models -- as far as temp, the service manual calls for the radiator fan to turn on two times I believe
The pump was just slow and the hose was leaking fluid out as I pumped it in. I just used a funnel attached to a hose going to the same port that filled it quicker

Recently I went to Honda dealership did for transmission oil change for $250 at 49,500 miles. Also I heard you said you paid $80 for oil quart and did you buy at Honda dealership ?
Yep roughly 80 dollars for the 5 quarts, I usually stick to around 30k to change since I’m not as easy on it, otherwise I think 50k is a good interval. I bought ATF2.0 specifically
Instead of jack stands, I just use 4 car ramps (drive up on the front set, jack up the rear of the car and slide the other two under the tires). The accord is so low I have to drive up on a 2"x8"x2' board just to clear the front of my car ramps. Yours may not be like this.

I have a mishimoto intake and stock turbo on my accord 2.0. Will the mishimoto turbo inlet bolt on to that intake and stock turbo?
You’ll need to relocate the primary o2 sensor onto the downpipe for it to work, as well as retune since you’ll be changing that location
@@Qius_Cars ok thank you. I have a jb4 tune with an e30 tune i can switch to. Do you think it’s safe to run e30 on stock injectors and pump? Im new to the accord community
What oil drain you using?
Thank you!!
Did you end up using 4.5 quarts , or did it take the full 5?
About 4.6, since as I was pouring it in, a bit spilled out
What’s the mileage interval to change the fluid?
Around 30k, factoring how much driving was done in city/highway
Does anyone know about the atf 2.0 shortage ? My dealer doesn't know when it will be available.
First time I’m hearing of ATF2.0 shortage. You could always try to purchase from an Acura dealer too, they’re the exact same fluid
idk if its a shortage, im in San Diego and the first 3 dealers I called wanted $20-28/qt but on the 4th dealer I called it was only 12/qt which was awesome. This was also just last week - so try and call around!
Did everything you did mine took almost 5 qts and checkbolt only leaked 1 drop.
Did you make sure the car was leveled?
@@Qius_Cars yes, i saw another video where they use 4.6-5 qts.
Nice video
Is it ok to do at 68k miles
Ideally 30k if you drive it hard, 50k normally. 68k is due
Why would you have to test drive it if you're just letting the fluid out of
On the 10 speeds, it’s particularly picky to the fluid level, a quick drive after is to make sure it goes through all the gears smoothly and if it doesn’t, then it needs to be topped off a bit more or a little more needs to come out
Do we have to replace filter??
No filter to replace.
فيه فلترين، واحد داخل القير لكن مايتغير الا عند التوظيب لازم ينفك القير، والثاني في المبرد الاصل إنه مايتغير لكن أنا راح أغيره على تغيرة 160 الف ان شاء الله
Unclear where fill hole is
It’s towards the front of the vehicle, there are two bolts - fill is the top most one, the bottom is the level check hole
who is gonna mention the fluid smells like cow dung !!!!
How often do you change your transmission fluid?!? I haven’t changed mine yet🥲
With normal driving conditions,~30k miles
When the car is off the ground the transmission will not manually shift onto 2nd gear, even when I accelerated above 22 mph.
You shouldn’t have to accelerate it, just foot on the brake and engage the paddle in sport mode. Might be because it’s off the ground
No filter in the trans?
No filter at all
Thanks so much
