      Likely Great white to win that fight... given that the individual doesn’t have what’s needed...
      Yes we’re dominating land but the ocean just other field of threat to Survivability oxygen movement temperature etc...
      Apex is Man now but take away the other stuff that gives the advantage...

      your more likely to get malled by other creatures such as dolphins (yes really, dolphins are actually pretty mean) than sharks
      most shallow waters have very docile sharks, some of them are actually scared of humans like the blacktip reef shark
      if they arent shy then theyre just curious, most sharks dont eat humans, the only one i can think of you might have to worry abt that with is the tiger shark which have been found with junk in their stomachs
      also sharks like to be pet and will get jealous if their favorite human is petting someone else

      @amartinez0607 dolphins like humans and most shark attacks are accidents, even little nibbles from large sharks are harmful
      part of it might also be media rep, sharks do not have a good rep in media and most of their coverage is about how scary they are
      dolphins meanwhile can actually pretty nasty to each other and other species, including humans occasionally, but not often, dolphins have killed humans before in very brutal ways, and some male dolphins have attempted to rape humans before, but thats more of just because thats how their mating works... its rape and SA

      I love sharks, but they are apex predators. They are curious and might not eat you or bite you (might) but have some respect and keep your distance. If a great white decides "you're" it in the ocean. You are a snack in seconds. They will literally bite you in half. And I'm not even exaggerating in the slightest.

    I once went bridge dunking as a kid with a bunch of friends in a river near a bay, and a 5ft long blue shark casually swam by while we were on the bridge. I tossed a stone at it, and it shot from 0-100mph in 1 second and disappeared. We all looked at each other and realized it could have easily killed us and swam away before we even knew we were being killed. Sharks are impressive when you see them in action in real life.

    I wonder what the sharks think while they're out of the water.. Like, they know it's not going to kill them because they see other sharks doing it, but once they're out.. It must be weird. For the first time in their entire lives, they enter a world that feels totally different on their skin. They see the water below them, they can't breathe, their sensors aren't as sensitive, depending on the weather, it might be hot from the sun, way hotter than anything else they've ever felt.. It's like when the shark wranglers pull them onto the lift.. They must swim away like wut tf was that?! People's hands all over them, a tube shoved into their mouth to keep water flowing through their gills, the sounds, being blind folded and flipped over.. I'm just so curious what they think is going on and how that stays with them. Like they said, they're way too cautious to breach anywhere else, even in NAm where there are seal colonies.. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is mega curious what they are thinking.

      They don’t think

    • @jademoon7938
      @jademoon7938 6 ปีที่แล้ว +92

      momin That's a ridiculous statement. Every creature with a brain thinks. That's how brains function, electrical pulses are literally thoughts. Sharks do have stronger instincts, and their instincts do drive a lot of their behavior, but that's only for things like migrating. The only fact I need to point to is the video. These whites are learning how to breach, and the don't do it anywhere else despite knowing how. This means that whites are arriving, watching other sharks do it, learning what it does, and then trying it out for themselves. That's literally thinking. Whites do passbys on objects in the water, opening this mouths slightly to assess what the object is, they choose to make passes to figure out if it's dangerous or if it's food. Once they decide it's possibly food, they take test bites, and then decide whether or not to eat it. This is why human's usually escape with one bite, sharks decide we're not food. That's all thinking. Smaller sharks decide to back off when bigger sharks approach, but smaller sharks have been seen choosing to stick around and possibly tussle. That's decision making. Sharks decide when it's safe to enter a semi-comatose state while swimming depending upon the safety to conserve energy, they don't just do it when it gets dark, people don't even know what makes them choose to do it, because they don't do it when people are near, so we never see it.
      On a secondary note, scientists are beginning to believe that even plants think, despite not have a brain or central nervous system. So it's possible that even without brains living things think. I personally think that you need to have more appreciation for the independent thought of other living creatures, and recognize that our larger capacity for thought, having done away with most instinctual impulses, doesn't mean we are the only ones who think. Even creatures as small as ants think, they rescue each other like soldiers on a battlefield. Have more appreciation for the rest of the living things on earth.

      Water takes the path of least resistance.. you’ll probably say water is “thinking” to that also
      Sharks don’t think. Sharks are nothing but action and reaction. Thinking is a human feature. Actually, It’s not even a human feature either, but that’s another discussion.
      You have 2 eyes, lips, nose, arms, legs.. did these come about Bc of your thinking. Did you think really hard about having 5 fingers on each hand, And then it happened? Did you think your way into accomplishing that?
      No! It just happened. Life happened! It’s just a happening. What the sharks are doing is just a ‘happening’. Don’t label it as “thinking”

    • @scarletpimpernel388
      @scarletpimpernel388 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Im sure he justs flys out the water while munching a seal and looks towards the beach n thinks.... nice tits
      He’s only thinking about the seal, the way you describe it you'd think the shark was on a 2 week vacation instead of a split second breach

    • @jademoon7938
      @jademoon7938 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Scarlet Pimpernel If I put you in space for 5 seconds, do you not think that you'd have a physical experience that you'd not only feel, but also be cognitively aware of the lack of oxygen, the cold, and a million other things while it happened? Time is relative, sharks can't breathe outside the water and they certainly can feel the sun on their skin, the idea that they don't experience that with thoughts is ridiculous. They might not follow the logic that a human possessed, but that doesn't negate their own logical processes.
      Humans underestimate the ability of other animals to think. They do. They think and learn, they're curious and will do risk assessments. To dismiss the idea that sharks experience everything that happens to them is to dismiss the cognitive abilities that we see on display every time we study sharks.
      Their blatant curiosity, learning behavior, the choices they make, the experience of pain and fear, the tactics used while hunting, the fact that they can recognize fresh water and avoid it, the acquiescence to larger or more powerful sharks, all of these things are clearly related to thought. Instinct still comes from the brain. Instinct is still thought.
      I never said a single thing about sharks being able to assess in a few seconds what would take a human several minutes to assess. I said they must wonder about this environment above them that is warm and they can't breathe in. Just like they must wonder about what is going on when humans catch and tag them. They might not have the complexity that humans possess, but to dismiss any and all thought is just ignorant.
      Do you not see dogs making decisions? Do you really believe a dog is cognitively superior to a shark that's been around for thousands upon thousands of years? You are seeing the dog's learned behavior after being domesticated, that's what gives you the impression they're smarter, they aren't actually superior. They have totally different sensory organs, ones that are far closer to a human's than a shark's, so you recognize their abilities easier than you would a shark. That doesn't remove the intelligence of a shark.
      Through comments like these, I have been exposed to this bizarre speciesist thought that so many humans have about animal intelligence. We're not superior. We just think we are because it is extremely difficult to measure the intellect of creatures that are so physically different that we have no comparison points. Don't confuse that with the idea that animals are dumb and we're smart. That's a fallible conclusion.

    Ignorance is truly blissful. When I was a young boy swimming around the beaches in Florida I never thought of a shark attacking me, but after watching videos like this you really think about getting into the ocean and what could happen in just a split second. But everything is a risk nowadays so don't worry so much and have fun just think before you act and be smart about what you do. Like don't swim in the ocean early in the morning or at night. That's when sharks like to feed and are more active.

    @ 1:46 the way this shark spins its body while jet propelling itself straight outta nowhere upward from below , creeped me out about a shark. Never in my 45 years of being in complete awe of them has one clip made me feel kinda ... vulnerable maybe? And it’s only the two seconds of that specific clip that affects me like that
    That spin for some reason shook me. I must’ve played it 20 times over & over again and it’s still eerie. I wonder if they do that to keep themselves in a straight upward line????
