I can't take the scene seriously knowing that sharks can never be still, since they don't have a swim bladder, which is what makes most fish float.
Sharks need to constantly swim and exert force with their fins to avoid rushing into the depths of the ocean.
Every time I see this scene I can't help but imagine the shark falling down and returning to the place where it came from without the girl noticing.😂

You know humans are hubristic when Hollywood movies act like macho tough guys like Jason Statham, The Rock, Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vin Diesel, etc. can overpower the forces of nature in this case Jason overpowering a 40-foot-long shark. Please!!! That shark has the capability to bite through armor plated steel. I guarantee it.

Seriously - real glass is nowhere NEAR that easy to indent or crack. If it had even got to that point, the entire structure would collapse and shatter into chunks, and the Meg would slice itself to ribbons eating them. End of movie
I'm pretty sure the "it's just a whale" quote was only stating that whatever bit the glass is gone and to make her less worried. He clearly looks and notices the teeth marks.

The girls words should be the last thing to be worried about. Even without the daughter there, if any sane man had seen those bites they'd be gone.
I think the amount of misinterpretation such an easy to interpret line is getting is very telling of this movie's audience

Some people who have read the novel this was based on might dislike the considerable changes to the story that were made in some places. But, those changes were approved by the author. He wasn't trying to make the next Jaws, the point of this movie is just a fun creature feature.
