You should watch “hell or high water” and “wind river”, they are all written by the same guy and he considers them his American frontier trilogy because they share alot of themes. People only seem to react to sicario and that’s a bummer because hell or high water is amazing and got like 4-5 Oscar noms including best picture and wind river is really damn good. Taylor Sheridan the writer also directed wind river. The casts for all 3 of the movies are amazing too

"Soccer" was originally a British term brought to the US along with the sport. It is derived from "Association Football" ("Assoc" to "Soccer") in the same way that the term "Rugger" is derived from "Rugby Football".

They've hit the nail on the head. This is NOT Kate's story, but we follow the movie from her perspective. The movie is actually Alexandro's story, but we never realize that till the end. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I didn't like the movie - it was too violent and gritty for me, but in terms of plot, acting, and cinematography, I've never seen better.

Those military guys at the end are the equivalent to the British Army Special Air Service - they’re popularly known as U.S. Army Delta Force here in the States. I think the closest equivalent to the two FBI agents would be agents from the UK’s National Crime Agency. The shooting skills of Delta Force operators and two regular FBI agents doesn’t even come close to being in the same football field ..which is probably why the lead guy had very little confidence in them before the mission. I wouldn’t be surprised if something like what he told them in the movie would be said in real life…they’re probably like kids with water guns to them.😅

"You are not a wolf, and this is the land of wolves now" . That is the line of the movie IMOP. Those bodies hanging from the bridge is based on reality. When you are dealing with evil that is capable of this you must operate in the shadows. Dealing in that world is grey at best & she wanted the world to be black & white/ good & bad.

You have great temperaments for this kind of movie and really seem to have appreciated not only that it's so good, but why it's so good. I swear you can watch this directors movies with 1. Just the music on, or 2. No sound, or 3. Just the dialogue. They are all beautifully done and understated, slowly and masterfully developed.

Wouldn't recommend looking up gores videos, (if you're interested there's great TH-cam channels that describe them and the backstories/conflicts to why they're happening) but once you understand how common hyperviolence is in places like Brazil & Mexico, you understand why they aren't phased by the hanging butchered bodies. Agreed, no matter how much people get offended it's true. Literally all gore videos come from brazil or mexico
And to me the Brazil ones are more disturbing because atleast the mexican cartel has a system. Unlike the videos from Brazil that are pure randomness and savagery, gangs kill*ng and torturing mere apple stealers, cheating wives, cu*tting* off parts of kids that were wrongfully accused of something or that stole, etc.. and doing it all while laughing like crazed hyenas

Haha, there are definitely Spanish speakers literally everywhere here in the U.S. and most of us can understand at least a little bit, but it's pretty ubiquitous near the Mexican border. Also, for reference, where this takes place is near the El Paso, Texas/Ciudad Juarez, Mexico border. They're so close together they're essentially the same city separated by a border. Juarez has become a lot safer in the past decade or so (even before this movie came out), but was a warzone because it's right on the border with America, and was thus a shipping lane for drugs/immigrants. What they couldn't show in this movie is the absolute barbarity of the cartels. Like, I'd get silenced/banned just for mentioning the things they do. Pure evil. Also 9:15 as an American you're supposed to call it HANDEGG, THANK YOU. EDIT: There's a good chance Alejandro actually saved Silvio's family by killing Silvio. If the cartel found out Silvio cooperated, they would have come after him, along with his family. If he died, that would have given him the benefit of the doubt. Alejandro worked for the Medellin cartel (founded by Pablo Escobar, actually), and knows how they operate. He abducted Silvio as a means to an end, but killed him to save his family. Alejandro is absolutely a bad guy, but you can empathize with him, and he made the right decision.

I love crime movies like this! And I enjoyed you guy’s reaction to it. In the beginning, the bodies were in the walls because if you’re near a city, you can’t go dumping bodies anywhere because they’ll be found and investigated.. and some were probably even there for being witnesses as well, exactly the reason why he killed the cop. There can’t be any witnesses in that business. It’s crazy because I live in Arizona and there’s a lot of cartel business going on here, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and California… and some in other states. The horror never ends.

Prob a little late here, but the sport is called football because it’s played on foot, not because you use your feet. It sounds silly, but when association football (it’s full name) got started in the 19th century, many games were played on horseback. Also, football is a family of sports, not a single sport. I wouldn't say this is one of his weaker films. I really like Arrival and Enemy but this one is better imo. Better also than Dune.

Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Enemy, Incendies (I saw this a LONG time ago, would need to rewatch), Bladerunner, Dune are the order in which I like his films. I like his more realistic films, as you can probably tell. Although Arrival is just incredible.

Why the blurring out of most of the video. Disappointing.

Unfortunately we need to blur out and cut portions for copyright reasons. This was one movie that was particularly harsh with the copyright.
