Ive been suspecting that I have ADHD. The lack of organisation, the binging, the impulsiveness, never finishing things. It’s really depressing so I’m glad you are so positive after your diagnosis and treatment. Inshallah I’m going to do the same. Please keep speaking about it on your platform, it’s so encouraging ❤

Dina, I want to commend you for your willingness to be vulnerable, sensible, reasonable, and understanding of yourself and your audience. Also, the time and mental energy it takes for you to engage in this talk.
It’s so encouraging and inspiring to see you grow and expand in areas of your interest, you’ve introduced your audience to so many fields of knowledge that I’m sure lots of us haven’t been familiar with.
However, I just want to say something that someone who may come across this comment can benefit from. As a fellow INFJ, it’s not my intention to diminish the crucial importance of mental health and self-care, it’s hard work and it’s commendable when one sets out on a journey within. With that being said, it’s important to remember that once you find yourself in this space of questioning where does x, y, or z behavior, habit, or thought comes from, it’s extremely important to remember that your mind and your thoughts are not you, you have the capacity to watch your mind and you don’t have to identify with everything your mind produces. For thoughts can be byproducts of plethora of things, you’ve got to be selective with them. It’s enlightening to get to know yourself better, there’s no doubt about it, however excessive identification with diagnoses or certain issues to the point that it develops an identity of its own can be detrimental and can make you stay in the therapeutic environment for longer than you need turning it into something toxic. Mind can play games and produce excuses for certain behaviors which you do have the power to control, but due to this obsessive identification with new personality, it gives you a pass because you’re x, y, or z. The more roles you take on, the bigger the justifications can arise. I am not speaking on this with a negative intent, I am feeling the urge to warn others because this is something I’ve battled with during my long time in therapy, diagnosis with cptsd, gad, and possible underdiagnosed bpd. These labels can make you an asshole, it did that to me, so the sooner you catch your mind playing those tricks on you, the better it is for you to reinvent yourself and divorce yourself from certain labels that once served you an a source of self-understanding and may now be your weapons for self-destruction.
You are what you believe in, when you watch your mind and feed it with what you want it to produce later on for the betterment of your whole being, it will do so.
I’d highly recommend the following books (if you’re interested): The Power of Now by Eckhard Tolle, The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer - the end is disappointing because he ties all mental work to religion, but if you can disregard that this book offers a lot of clarity, The Book of Secrets by Deepak Chopra, When The Body Says No by Dr Gabor Mate - look up his videos too, he’s such an enlightening soul, and 12 Rules For Life by Jordan Peterson, When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron. Keep in mind that these aren’t Muslim writers, but what they refer to as various things is boiled down to nafs; we don’t have to buy into their terminology for us to make sense of it… just saying 🤷‍♀️ and if you want to understand emotions, read David Whyte’s Consolations - SO beautifully written! 😊 ok, I’m done.
    Peace out!

hi Dina, i’m so grateful you speak about ADHD, it’s interesting, helpful, i feel understood because i feel a lot of the things you talked about. i replayed some parts a few times, like when you talked about how your doctor explained about treatment, how it creates habits ( it made me cry, happy cry, it gives me hope). i was diagnosed as adult one year ago. in my country, Romania, there are just 2 meds aproved for adult adhd , one is Strattera , tried to take it, it doesn’t work, it gaves me very bad anxiety, very weird kind of fear. so your experience gave me hope for a better life and fight for a better treatment. GET HEALTHY SOON, ( from Covid) live your best life , love your videos, love you loads, wish you all the best

Binge eating is correlated with adhd. I was diagnosed with both a month ago and the meds have done the same for me. I agree that the impulse control that the meds allow definitely helps with knowing when to stop eating and when to start.

Thank you for sharing that you potentially might be on the spectrum somewhere. I’ve felt great shame as a woman in early 30s being diagnosed just now. It makes me feel less alone and less ashamed. I still don’t want to tell people around me, and you saying that so openly has made me reconsider how much I hide this from others. It’s exhausting being afraid of others knowing that I’m on the spectrum. Somehow these days friends and acquaintances are so open about being ADHD, but nobody is yet coming forward about being on the spectrum. There’s still some taboo there.

Mabrook on the certification. I am on 50 mg Vyvanse also for around 10 years. I know… it’s a long time. But since I have not had any BP or EKG issues, my shrink feels it’s safe. And, again I’m kicking ass in my career. However, my husband is retiring soon and we will be relocating from US to Morocco and they only have Straterra available in Morocco so my shrink will be doing a washout of Vyvanse and moving to the non-amphetamine drug. But, since I’m too young to retire, I will be moving yo my companies EU/Asia team so perhaps I can stay on the Vyvanse and just get it in EU when I do audits there. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Congratulations Dina on your certification, a lot of hard work to get there. I think you already have great video ideas! Maybe just focus on beginner or no weights type of workouts cause I assume most of your audience isnt as well versed with kettlebells, as you get more comfortable creating this type of content in the future you can start adding more advanced, or longer workout videos.

It absolutely is the ADHD. I think i am ADHD but can't afford an assessment and i'm not deemed as "bad enough" according to the assessment centre in cardiff i went to. But i've struggled with binge eating my whole life. I got up to 19 stone at one point. Realising that i am adhd and that binge eating is a "reward seeking (aka dopamine chasing)" behaviour makes total sense to me. It's the same with all impulsive behaviours. I've got into finanical difficulty before now because of impulsive spending too. If the Elvanse takes away the need to chase dopamine then you will be able to deal with impulsivity much better. I would love to know how that feels!

I'm all for your fitness progression for your own passion and development. It's great and something many women can relate to I.e. becoming their best physical/health version of themselves post children. In terms of teaching.. I find this a little difficult to digest. You've been very transparent about suffering from disordered eating/ binge eating / body dysmoprhia for as long as you have been on multiple platforms , even very recent vlogs. So personally for me I'd find it contradictory and mentally and physically dangerous waters to train with a trainer or certified person where those complex issues are a part of their journey. Not tainting your progress merely discussing/reflecting since you are starting to promote/market teaching/trainer/app/youtube subscribtions all based around fitness. Fitness is so much more than physical strength/ability.. eating and mental health all go hand in hand as health is holistic. To know say adhd medication cured this conveniently just all seems very odd. Odd because you self diagnosed eating issues concerns you had for yourself for10 years very publically and many of your audience at that time would say oh your content is helpful relatable etc only to turn around now question if u even ever had one..clearly the narrative of disordered eating doesn't fit a PT. you mentioned the word disingenuous yourself on this vlog, I would say I agree with you that is exactly how this comes across. I get everyone needs to make an income and that you've found a passion and like to help people on their fitness journey, not questioning your intentions but the ethics behind stronger with dina is definitely questionable.

do you think personal trainers all have zero issues with their bodies, mental health, and none have had disorded eating? As long as she is careful with how she comes across having an ED past does not mean she can't be a trainer. ALSO, ADHD very much deals with lack of impulse control. There are other people who have had binge disorders who ADHD meds have helped them with that issue a LOT. What is binge eating if not lack of self control when eating?
I'd urge you to look up Kimberly Nicole Foster's video "4 months ago, I got on Adderall" she talks about how the meds helped her binge disorder

@@NeonKodiak I'm sure you are correct in your assumptions re: other trainers and personal body struggles. However as I've followed and subscribed to Dina from her very first vlog over 10 years ago i was interested in her journey and can only comment on what i am viewing therefore cant coment on the potentiality of what other fitness bloggers may or may not have. Dina has been very public and transparent about disordered eating and only recently started her adhd journey/meds I just personally found it too soon to start marketing her app that's all. As she said her self she may come across as insincere her words not mine and i agree with her.She asks her viewers for "what they think" and that's my view in response to her life updates and plans to step into the trainee market.
