Your pool looks so nice - I have a 16 x 48 Intex Ultra frame too - and no problems at all, this is my 2nd season. I still use the pump that came with the pool - I run that for 6 hrs and my salt-water generator for 3, I have crystal clear water, but your pool is bigger than mine and I think you made a wise decision to get that sand filter. I agree about the ladder. Also the cover that came with it stinks! I bought a new cover to cover my pool in the winter (I live in Florida, left it up). Enjoy!
@ Melissa - If I remember correctly I used about 400 lbs. of sand. 4 years later its still holding up well. Every year when I add fresh sand to the filter I add the used one to the surrounding sand around the pool.
I loved watching your video before I put up my pool. I have well water and while still filling it up, the water turned green. My saltwater pump instructions say this is normal and am running the boost cycle. Should I shock as well? I hope it clears up. Pretty pool setup.
@TheConcorde- the level is not supposed to be above the return valve, that will be over the limit pool is designed to hold and put too much pressure on liner/valve. It does however need to be above the intake though but i solved that temporarily by using a hose to below water level.
the pavers under the legs have they caused any problems with them being higher than the pool; i have done the same and worried about seam ripping from weight. Please help. Thanks.
Yes Nina thanks I meeant to get around to that but unfortunately Superstorm Sandy came snd a huge branch from tree above destroyed the pool. I will purchase the same one this summer as the pumps and other equipment is fine.
i have the same pool set up the SAME exact way. i put tarp, then a piece of old carpet then i used bricks for the legs. this is my 4th year. i never take it down. NEVER. whats messy? ppl are such haters. good video thanks
Val it all depends on your location. Im in Long Island, NY. It can be 100 degrees and sunny ine day and 65 degrees with thunderstorms the next. Plus with the tree above i get pieces of bark, leaves, bugs etc which the net catches but it still makes contact with the water so yes a weekly shock is recommended. Trust me, II have family in the pool cleaning business.
i just bought a salt water system i bought my pool last year and i used the filter it came with and it was just really nasty and green so i haven't put my pool up this year but when i do im going to use the salt water pump do i need the sand pump to use the salt water pump
Hi, I have a rectangular intex pool, is working with salt also, but is turning green, I brush and vacuum and then I put some algaecide also I run the filter for 8 hours. What can I do next if it doesn't go away. also should I turn on the salt water system or just the filter while the algaecide works? I read about boost, how can I do that? Thank you please help me
Theres a tree above, even with net some leaves and bugs get in and its used mostly on weekend so yes it needs an occasional shock, it does not hurt it.
Dadhero- it was both a budget issue and a availability issue. I started with the included pump and was going with chlorine. I bought the sabd filter first and later when I read about the advantages of going salt, i purchased the Saltwater system separately as I already had the filter pump.
@MK107- 10,000 gallons of water over bricks sitting on sand pretty much levels it just fine. The only orecaution as I have mentioned before is to make sure the pavers are not resting against the liner. Mine have held up well for 4 years so far.
I watched this video at least four times before we started setting up our pool (16'X48" Ultra Frame), and I watched it again after connecting the filter pump and the saltwater system. Thank you so much for posting this. It was very helpful for us, and we've got everything up and running great now. Waiting for the 24 hours of filter agitation dissolving the salt before we turn on the saltwater system. Do you use chemical shock, or do you just run the boost setting when needed?
Can you tell me where you got the solar cover. I have the 22' x 52" intex and I cant find a solar cover for that size. Not even on intex website. thanks
@pbryant- Getting a pool back to clear blue from green takes a lot of work but its not hard. You must filter the water as much as possible. Make sure there is no debris in the pool. Scrub the inside regularly( walls, etc), shock it often, I would say about every 2 days ( you cant overshock a pool so dont worry about that ) check your PH/Alkaline levels and add PH stabilizer ( up or down you will only know if you use water testing strips). Good luck, hope it helps.
Compamac lol what danger exactly is there in sand and leaves on tarp? Leaves are on the ground...tarp is on the ground...they're bound to meet. However if you are talking about costmetics such as wooden walkway or such Im no Bob Vila. I just want a pool for my kids to enjoy in the summer set up correctly and safely which I have done.
Thanks. Excellent review. What size bricks (thickness) did you use below the feet and did you get it from a local store. The only ones I found are thick ones at my local store which makes the pool higher than ladder.
hello could you tell me how high your water is we also have young children and were thinking of getting this pool but were worried about the intake and out flow returns? many thanks Sara
@Erick- sorry to hear that. But it just a $200-250 pump, not exactly a high grade pump but should hold up for a few years. Mine is 4 years ild and still working fine and it has sat outside during harsh NY winters.
TheWalking Rob Thanks for the video. I just purchased the 18 x 48 pool and am planning out the setup. Couple of questions that I'm hoping you can answer. 1) I'm also in NY (upstate). Do you dismantle the pool every fall and store it away for winter or have you been able to get away with winterizing the pool and leaving it out in winter? In either case, what precautions do you take to prevent any damage to the liner and leaks down the road? A lot of people seem to end up with holes in their liners after storing the liner away carefully over the winter. 2) Any tips on doing the electrical the right way? We also have 2 external GFCI outlets on the outside of the house that we are hoping to use. 3) Have you had any issues with the metal frame rusting after 4 yrs with the salt water system? Any tips/suggestions on minimizing rust issues with the metal frame? Thanks a lot!
C. Johnson.- To be honest, I experienced the same thing and couldnt get it to click so I just let it be and thankfully had no problems. As we speak. i had to drain the pool as I neglected it over the winter and got real dirty so i will try to click them again when it is empty.
But shouldn't you have the top of the bricks even with the ground so the legs don't put extra stress on the liner by the legs being lifted higher like that due to the bricks being above ground? because when you level the ground I think the pool is designed so both the bottom of the pool liner and the legs should be sitting even on the ground. Also, I noticed the way you have the pool liner sitting against the bricks like that might cut a hole in the liner. but great review though. : )
Thanks for the great video! Am a able to buy a regular Intex 15'x48" pool and put in a saltwater filter system?? would that be expensive to convert? Thanks in advance! =)
In general folks. Getting a pool to clear blue from green will not happen overnight or in a couple of days. It will take a couple of weeks of filtering and treating but its do able.
Hi, thx for the review it was very helpful! I have the same pool and wanted to know, how much sand did you use to help level off an area that big? I know from watching a lot of videos we will have to remove the sod and move dirt from the high to the low side to get the area as even as we can before adding the sand. So, would we need a truckload of sand to complete leveling the area?
KamilEdyta Werpachowski the only that rusted were the legs and that was after 7 yrs. i just threw out this pool in this video and will be setting up a new one next month.
+Michelle Wells No I haven't heard anything yet. The polls are metal and have a powder coat on them. As long as the poll doesn't get scratched, should be fine.
+Michelle Wells , here's what I heard from Above Ground Pros: "Most people do but it will corrode the metal frame over time." We are going ahead with the saltwater system. Have a great day.
Oh I forgot to mention - you should put a bath mat or something under the feet of your ladder in your pool - it'll make holes in the liner if you don't...they're really rough on it.

Thanks for the info. Some of the reviews had me worried, but now I will purchase this pool. Great job, the water is so clear!
@ Melissa - If I remember correctly I used about 400 lbs. of sand. 4 years later its still holding up well. Every year when I add fresh sand to the filter I add the used one to the surrounding sand around the pool.
You do know the sand is good for 5 years in the filter
I loved watching your video before I put up my pool. I have well water and while still filling it up, the water turned green. My saltwater pump instructions say this is normal and am running the boost cycle. Should I shock as well? I hope it clears up. Pretty pool setup.

@Preston. No the slabs under legs have held up nice as long as the pool liber is not pressing against them.
Why did not go with or invest in one of the sand filter w/saltwater krystal clear systems, instead of using two separate pumps?
Yes Nina thanks I meeant to get around to that but unfortunately Superstorm Sandy came snd a huge branch from tree above destroyed the pool. I will purchase the same one this summer as the pumps and other equipment is fine.

i keep getting low water flow? any ideas what causes this? it goes to sleep...other filter only runs 120v that comes with 15x48 intex pool

Kim- Salt water system is starting before the filter. Make you set it to start a couple of minutes after the filter starts.
Dadhero- it was both a budget issue and a availability issue. I started with the included pump and was going with chlorine. I bought the sabd filter first and later when I read about the advantages of going salt, i purchased the Saltwater system separately as I already had the filter pump.
Hey my t bar has two different one unclicked after I filled it up, what you think be the best way to fix that?
@Melissa. However your local sand supplier should tell you what you need depending on the area you need to cover.
@MK107- 10,000 gallons of water over bricks sitting on sand pretty much levels it just fine. The only orecaution as I have mentioned before is to make sure the pavers are not resting against the liner. Mine have held up well for 4 years so far.

A Hannah. No problems with pavers. Just gotta make sure they dont press against the liner once the pool is filled.

I bought a saltwater filter how did u hook up the pumps together
any problems with the pavers under the legs?
I’m going to try one of these nets. Thank you.

Bought mine at walmart for 500 treated the liner like a 75 pound egg and no leaks im happy with my pool
yeah same question; have the pavers being higher given you any problems?
@Erick- sorry to hear that. But it just a $200-250 pump, not exactly a high grade pump but should hold up for a few years. Mine is 4 years ild and still working fine and it has sat outside during harsh NY winters.

Hey I have the same pool as you what's the sand filter model number? And salt water pump system too so I can buy it?
Anyone knows a company I can hire to do the base of pool I just bought a intex pool

Why would you shock it when you're using salt water? We have this pool and use the salt water and there is not reason to ever shock the pool.
Thanks for the great video! Am a able to buy a regular Intex 15'x48" pool and put in a saltwater filter system?? would that be expensive to convert? Thanks in advance! =)

Put a bath mat under legs of pool ladder so the legs don’t rub a hole in bottom pool liner
Do you have any rust problems with the Intex pool frame? I heard the rust a lot quicker using a saltwater system
KamilEdyta Werpachowski the only that rusted were the legs and that was after 7 yrs. i just threw out this pool in this video and will be setting up a new one next month.
No rust on mine except for the ladder but that's my fault leaving it outside during winter.
Any issues after 4 years of adding the saltwater to this pool? Planning on buying the same pool and salt system this weekend. Thanks
Have you heard anything yet? I'm also thinking of purchasing a saltwater system and heard that the polls rust.
+Michelle Wells No I haven't heard anything yet.
The polls are metal and have a powder coat on them. As long as the poll doesn't get scratched, should be fine.
Heard if you sprayed some type of sealant on the polls etc. if you get a scratch or something you should be fine.
+Michelle Wells , here's what I heard from Above Ground Pros:
"Most people do but it will corrode the metal frame over time."
We are going ahead with the saltwater system. Have a great day.
You can do it yourself with a little elbow grease. There are videos on youtube on how to level the sand.
Hi love your video! I purchased the same pool, I haven't put it up yet. Do you still love your pool? Thank you🌺🌺🌺
Fran Noerr absolutely. Enjoy yours.
The Walking Rob appreciate the reply! The only spot we have is of course under a massive tree thanks for the net info 🌺🌺🌺
Wow Cabcasey im impressed. Good for you, e
How are you shocking your pool? I thought the whole purpose of people choosing salt water systems, was so they could avoid chemicals.
Plus I add a weekly punch oh shock treatment once a week and/or a major rainstorm.
I think it needs more water, so the filter return is under water...
7 YRS. WITH THE SAME ULTRAFRAME. ONE TEAR (EASILY REPAIRED) PUMP REPLACED...MINOR RUSTING NOTICED.
J Moore- I got my cover from Specialtypoolproducts.com
Tks pupp.
@Marie Layfield- check response to pBryant.
Warren, stop the video at 6:42 and you'll see.
Oh I forgot to mention - you should put a bath mat or something under the feet of your ladder in your pool - it'll make holes in the liner if you don't...they're really rough on it.
I've had my pool 4 years going on the 5th summer and no mat under the ladder and never had a hole
I dont mean to be rude or mean however, this setup is a little messy. I mean dead leaves and dirt on the tarp wont help
Wow can
I bought a saltwater filter how did u hook up the pumps together
