The fact we got all of this peak animation with the short schedule the animators had is insane. I wonder how it would've been with them on a longer time.
Thank you so much for your work in editing these videos, doing 16 and 17 must’ve been a pain in the ass considering how amazing they are. Take your time in making these amazing videos!
I seriously cannot stress enough how much I appreciate your content. You are so good at explaining such a complex topic like animation. Without you I wouldn’t have been able to learn how much I have about the jjk production and animation in general. I genuinely am obsessed with animation now and you have changed the way I watch animation. Thank you for all the work you do I appreciate it a lot 🙂
Already looking forward to your analysis of episode 17. It wasn't as polished as episode 16 but it's still probably my favorite episode in the series so far. Man, seeing what level of animation the team has been able to put out with such a bad schedule is legitimately depressing. JJK S2 could have been the best animated anime season of all time if it had a healthy schedule.
mob psycho has my favourite style of animation and design overall... so seeing this was an insane treat. next episode blew me even more away even though it's not as polished as this now. but the sheer audacity to try and make an episode like that has to be commended
I finally rewatched eps 16 and 17 today, taking my time to slow down, rewind and replay scenes 11 times over, etc etc, rather than just watching it like I did the first time. There was so much to enjoy. I love this kind of sakuga. Idk the last time recently I've watched a show and been taken to this height when it comes to animation. So much fun pausing, rewinding, and piecing together what is happening and gaining even more appreciation for an already mind-blowing scene. Replaying the same 5 seconds over and over because the impact is just insane and it doesn't get old. Some shows have good animation but idk if it comes down to personal preference or what, but only some shows can do this for me when it comes to the sakuga. This is the kind of stuff I live for.
Always amaze how you can gather all this information. And now i know why the effect felt so similiar so it comes from Yutaka Nakamura inspo. Especially the block buidling and how the lights travel
your videos are the type I can watch fully attentive, no distractions the same way I watched jjk since even blinking might mean I'll miss something. my attention span is like 5 seconds nowadays so this is an impressive feat. thanks again for this animation breakdown! this kinda thing makes me appreciate the work that the animators poured into jjk even more.
I think one of the main reasons for criticism of this episode by a minor( yet vocal) minority is just a fundamental misunderstanding of what a good drawing is. And it’s not just a few weebs on Twitter, ironically enough, some of the webgen animators get that wrong often times causing troubles for animation directors by submitting overly detailed layouts, but with broken perspectives. Your drawing can be detailed down to molecules, but if the perspective is wrong the ad will have to redraw all of it, because it’s a bad drawing. The worst part is you show the two to some people and they dead ass choose the detailed drawing cause “mmmuhhh art style” There’s obviously a lot to appreciate about detailed art styles - Vinland saga is a great example, although there were plenty of weak lay outs, where some volume would’ve helped. Volume is where Jjk #16 excels - the combination of the raw animation talent and miso’s directorial quirks and understanding of volume created an incredible spectacle. That moment where Megumi is about to land his first punch and the camera pulls back is just so 3 dimentional it’s beautiful.
Your videos are so good i find myself coming back to them even 10 months later. It's so inspiring how knowledgeable you are about animation and all the different techniques and aspects of it. really makes me want to start learning to animate myself! I do think it would be cool if you could have a dedicated video going over all the animation terms you use because for example in this video i heard the term Rakugaki for the first time and it would be nice to have a more concrete definition of it in my head and how that differs from storyboards.
Great analysis. This was my favorite episode of JJK, and that's even with some of the best scenes dimmed and ghosted into oblivion. The fire in Sukuna's hand was one of the most beautiful things I have every seen in animation hands down and the sound effect was so perfect. It's crazy that people thought it was a coloring error... like come on
Finally a hour long video so thanks for your hard work 🫡 Yamazaki is too good i love to see his approach for different ED's vision so waiting for that video for more in-depth analysis for him and niinuma 9:24 even after so much complaining both miso and onsen still want to work on s3 i really hope s3 got a decent schedule coz some of them really want to comeback for this franchise (sadly no more Vincent)
@@User_95168 half of the aot team will move to jigo and i want hayashi to continue with his passion work (dorohedoro s2) with the more talented inhouse CGI team rather csm tbh
@@User_95168 unfortunately yes it's really hard to escape from this shithole Either one of them is going to hayashi team or they have to find a new aniP to handle one of them anyway one IP probably will suffer from complete staff change
This is my favourite of all your videos. The analysis, explanations, humor... You also feel more relaxed and confident than ever. Thank you for the shorthand drawings teachings as well as the simplicity of art appreciation, it helps not only with anime but to value art in general which at the end results in enjoying life more. As you might understand I wish you happiness: happy birthday and thank you very much for your videos.
Subbed. Incredible work and you’ve only been getting better. I have shared this video with friends and am looking forward to the next one. I really appreciate that you are an anime only appreciator as it adds to your appreciation of the anime’s story telling, that’s my opinion. lol
(Did I hear a hint about that Ep. 5 Art Breakdown 👀👀-) Truly a sensational episode that dropped, and one that was followed up to the highest of extents with 17. I think SouYama's flexibility might still be one of the most interesting parts for me, his skill is unhinged.
LOVE THE NEW PFP 😂 also can’t wait to watch this video, know it’ll be a banger. Anytime a rare episode like this, full sakuga, come up, I just can’t wait to watch ur analysis.
I’ve been waiting on this video ! Thx G !🙏🏽 Your in depth analysis on animation is unmatched quality and it’s obvious you actually care and pay attention.
This is my first time on this channel, it is 5:30 in the morning and I clicked on this cuz the title seemed interesting in combination with the video length, I knew this was gonna be detailed so I was excited to see what this video is about. I gotta say I know absolutely NOTHING about animation and the general anime industry but I am a huge JJK and Anime fan and I have a huge admirations for visually impressive animations just like these last two episodes specifically provided. 14 Minutes into this video and I subscribed to u because you impressed me a lot so far. I can tell you are very knowledgeable on the subject and talk about this with such a passion! You make ME excited about this! I feel like I am about to sign up for an animation class if I continue to watch this video hahaha I am interested in learning more about animation and i LOVE hearing you talk about it! Thank you for this video!
Read the manga again last night for the upcoming fight and oh boy i wish we could get sunghoo park for it. Almost 3-4 eps will be martial arts and ending it off with sunghoo park alongside imai and vercreek would have been sick. (Pretty sure vercreek and imai wanted to animate a cut or two for yuji's most iconic panel/fight imo) Happy Birthday to You❤️❤️❤️
Oh a whole hour long animation analysis?? This should be a feast to say the least. Also a fellow ulrakill enjoyer i see with that music choice at the beginning.
This video should be shown to the people that said the animation on this episode was "garbage"..... when all it was different was the art style. I love Mob Psycho so this episode was my jam.
Just commenting here to help out the algorithm . You deserve all the subscribers man. Was totally blown away by your breakdown. Keep up this great work
I was waiting patiently for this vid and it’s finally here 🙏 I feel like I’m understanding and appreciating the work animators do more and more from watching you. TBH I really enjoy the long breakdown vids. Not just bc of the topic but I like how passionate you are 😊 keep up the good work!
25:50 I agree with you Animation is a motion. Animation isn't supposed to be paused and calling in between frames "animation mistake" I've once hated that kind of animation, but the more I animate, realistic movements that doesn't break characters bones kinda lack of impact and looks dull
I'm afraid and at the same time hoping that the next video will last more than an hour. Take your time and craft your video, bro. You can't imagine how much i enjoy every time when i see notification about video on your channel.
Ahh man I just feel so raged when kids were ranting on twitter that the episode is unfinished and bad animation like wtf dude. Literally disrespecting the animators who worked their ass off for the episode also Vincent specially came for it even though he never work with mappa and never will in future
I usually watch long videos in 2x cuz I'm impatient but with your channel it's an internal struggle, cuz I wanna go fast. But then how will I watch the animation when it comes up 💀
A cut from the grasshopper fight and most of sukana v Jogo being done by 1 guy sums up jjks production
The fact we got all of this peak animation with the short schedule the animators had is insane. I wonder how it would've been with them on a longer time.
Yeah! It's simply amazing what they can do with such a tiny schedule. I wonder that, too.
The thing is in anime industry it's usually the norm. You usually see animators go all out in Western productions
Although this episode had enough time to Complete it
This team was at 30% of their potential, maybe they cut some shit
@@A1000-b9s they said on twitter that this episode was only 30% completed

still incredible how a lot of fans don't like this episode, we are so lucky to had an episode with leggendary animators
they might be the type of people that dislike the pain fight too

S3 won't have a good schedule either if mappa decides to make chainsaw man S2 with JJK staff in the time toho give them to make JJK S3
But since AoT had ended, maybe mappa will make AoT team work on CSM S2 instead of making JJK team work on it

Thank you to everyone involved with JJK S2 as far as the staff goes. As for MAPPA and the production committee, may you reap what you've sowed.
TOHO will likely decide the schedule since they are at The top of the committee. Mappa won't get much percent from JJK
