- Having owned a stock manual Subaru Legacy 3.0R for the last year, this will be very interesting to see how the same car but with a massive turbocharger goes!

i originally built this car. It's so cool to see it still around today, definitely looks a bit different now. it was originally running 11 psi boost, and it somehow didn't blow up
Oh wow that’s really awesome! Yep still going and drives awesome
A supercharged one is just amazing love this beauties my favorite car and engine lately
Mmmm yea that’s the next one to try
Loving your videos, best fast JDM testing channel. Quick, honest, geniun opinion. . .keep it going mate👌👌👌
Thanks man!
Welcome back! Been waiting for another KCL vid.
Thanks yeah had glandular fever for a few weeks
@@KiwiCarLife No good. Sorry to hear that.
Great vid, really like the idea behind this car, even though I am more keen on na motors nowadays.
It’s certainly fun I see why people like big power turbo cars
Wow... That's fantastic.
It’s really cool aye!
30R turbo is such a cool combo. great sound conpared to 2l too
Yeah absolutely man super fun
Happy you liked my car hopefully you can give it another review if I end up retuning it and getting more power hehe
That would be really awesome! Thanks again man
Nice car mate, we do have these in the uk, but you don’t see many on the roads. Probably because there engine size vs the size of the car is not something British people like, they either want a big car with the big engine, or a small car with a smaller engine. I would have one if I didn’t have children etc. By the way that magic tree air freshener looks about 5 years old, all faded 😂
@@jonnygtiyeah I get what you mean. Lol I’ll be sure to replace my air freshener ahah
@@peterbolton1jz haha I notice these small things😂 😜
What a brilliant car
It’s cool aye
Shifter might also have oem short throw kit that alters the linkage and not height of the lever. You might want to try 6speed oem sti short throw kit plus urethane bushings.
Yeah that would definitely help I reckon
@@KiwiCarLife Other thing i seen were reinforced dual-range 5 speed manual gearboxes, you have a company in australia doing these set up to work with turbo and h6 motors(without breaking from extra torque), its mostly for offroad and towing, but its alsonpretty much super short ratioes on demand and long ones for fuel economy. It has several ranges of reduction, one that was in 2.0R wagon legacies and outbacks is around 50% reductions, and makes 2nd gear roughly as short as 1st and 3rd as 2nd and so on.
It could be quite alot of fun to hoon without breaking the speed limit so quickly while getting more to the redline gear changes even with city speed limits.
I think of trying it out, problem is they dont import those boxes to europe as far as i know.
It would be both fun and useful. All at cost of one of the cupholders inside where lever for it goes. SI-Drive dial would need to be relocated in facelift i believe.
@@KiwiCarLife That Low range equiped 5 speed also means even more torque in low range, with less speed per gear so it would make for more fun accelerations overall, even if it comes at cost of fuel economy.
People who have 2.0R wagons say it feels like it would have a turbo when low range is selected. Combine that with ez30 and you have linear NA car that will push you into a seat without breaking speed limit as fast.
I turbod mine and reverted it back to na in a month. Ill be the only one to think this way but as cool as the turbo noises were and the top end power it lost its fun drivability that it had na. Way more fun in na form. The way it was made to be
That’s fair enough, I feel the novelty would wear off quickly
Basically a Porche 😂
Porsche reverse in steroid 😄
Yeah kinda haha
So the 718 flat 4 is basically a Subaru if we follow this kind of formats 😅
@@jingorooroad2559 yeah pretty much is tbh, even sounds similar
The heads for the ez3.0 r are made in Germany
Can u review the skyline 350gt sedan :))
I’ve done the 370gt basically the same thing but better
New lens? looks amazing
Yeah and some better colour correction
Nice@@KiwiCarLife
can you please review the 2024 gr yaris
Already reviewed it
Hey man random question, where is the driving experience filmed. I really wanna take my car for a good smash on those roads.
Ohariu valley road
Its actually a exhaust cam issue not a turbo size issue even on small turbos the stock exhaust cams dont want to spool the turbo
I would argue it’s a combination of the two
Remember this legacy used to be in Dunedin and had dark purple wheels on it
Oh really HAHA
Some interior panels were purple too lol smh
Is that a legacy engine as well? Or did you swap it? Because I have a 2012 Legacy that’s stock and I’m thinking about putting a turbo but I don’t know if the engine will handle it.
Yeah EZ30 comes factory in the legacy 3.0R
@@KiwiCarLife do you think if I put a turbo it’ll be too much for the legacy engine and break it? Asking cuz you have a turbo on yours
Whereabouts are you testing that car??
That road looks vaguely familiar but for the life of me I can't think of where it is 🤔
Filmed in Mexico
Yes Mexico
I seen this at the club fest this car was it the same car?
Yeah probably
how does the speedo only go to 180
Japanese import
_😎 Cool review bro, certainly not something you’d see everyday_ … 👌🏼
Indeed!
Kiwi
Yes
Kiwi
owner have an instagram?
I don’t think so
I would sacrifice 50 of those kw for a turbo that kicks in at 2000rpm. Or, just get a supercharger.
Yeah it’s a little unusable, but very fun. It would probably make similar power even with a smaller turbo coz it’s only making 7psi
@@KiwiCarLife why is the turbo so big? Is the owner planning an engine rebuild?
@@mrnicktoyou it was just what he could get his hands on I think
@@KiwiCarLife fair enough. Thanks for responding.
Why is this legal in your country, in switzerland you would get bursted for this
Because NZ is an excellent place
@@KiwiCarLife i just bought an 3.0r spec b, as a first car, here in switzerland are only 50 of them. Subarus are pretty much popular here. The rules are so strict here, kinda annoying
I second that bro..
I'm still loving my ISF , just can't let it go.
@@jesus1491 Switzerland is a small country so that doesn't surprise me even thought the population is higher, every country has it's positives & negatives, the grass isn't really greener, you would learn this by moving to different countries to experience that for yourself. Take for instance, Switzerland has higher paying jobs than New Zealand & other desirable things like better health care etc.
gjw866 deserves this. if only the bank allowed it
Oh yea good car
Pity about the owner cheaping out on some proper wheels and tyres
The kiwi is a tight animal
Ehh for a car like this that’s only designed to be thrashed down on-ramps it doesn’t really matter
Agreed, my comment is just joking around @@KiwiCarLife
Tyres always matter
It’s now sitting on nitto gt555’s handles so much better
