I'm so grateful for this video. It was a perfectly timed share on Facebook. I made 4 of the milk jug variety. I did it slightly different. We didn't have toothpicks for one thing. The other is that I wanted them to hand down straight from a poll that had a bracket hook drilled onto it. I inserted a hanging string into each of the holes from the outside, pinched them at the opening, pulled them out and tied them. That took care of my hanging string. I then tied the bacon string to the knot inside the jar (while that part was still outside the opening). It's been cool and overcast and nothing seems to be in them yet, but the job was easy to do, thanks to your instructions. They are now all out, handing in a wide perimeter around our hives.

Nice & simple. I like that. Thank you for not talking alot about your feelings and your day and such, like alot of videos do. You got right to the topic! Great!

Excellent tutorial! Especially the part about slowly moving them away from the hives. I would recommend swapping a meat trap for a sugar trap every so often. Meat trap also catches Flies! In my experience raw fish and chicken work the best

Good video. Good idea about using both sweet trap and meat trap. YJ change diets.

I have had success with strawberry jam, raspberry jam, Orange Crush, and Orange Sunkist. This year I'm going to also try out, Big Red, Dr. Pepper Cherry, Strawberry, and Cream Soda versions to see if they take the bait. Someone else out there claims they're having luck with Dr Pepper.

Instead of the holes and tooth pick you could use cotton or strong cotton to hold the meat and screw the lid on to hold the thread. Maybe tie some knots in the thread if there is a possibility of it slipping thru the lid/bottle seal.

I highly suggest one large Tupperware container wide mouth and a board of wood with chicken on the bone nailed to the underside or wet cat food spread on the underside like peanut butter straight down the center of the length of the board.
Greedy little wasps fly in, fill their mouths, get ready to fly off and drop to catch flight. Unfortunately for them the container is full of soapy water breaking surface tension and they drop into the water. Fill water to about 1 ¹/² inches below your bait. Set away from high traffic areas.

I can say from experience that these simple traps will catch thousands of wasps and NO bees.

Thank you for the helpful video! I will try this very soon.
Sorry if this is a silly question, it's hard to see...is the bacon raw or cooked? 😚

Just put the cap on with string hanging out. More logical way and less mess.

Put a light under that and wrap something that blocks light around the bottom and you have a Brown Marmorated Stink Bug trap.

    ベーコントラップか、気が付かなかった。今秋やってみよう。
Bacon trap! I'll definitely try it this fall and see if it works.
    Thanks.

Have you ever found a bug drowning and dumped it out? Twice for me I found a spider first. After rescuing it, the spider put itself upside down. Same with a bee I recently hit with my hose. Hanging upside down. Some instinct maybe. Drain out , have a nap and go on about being a bug...

Don't need the drill holes; just screw in the thread with the lid.

The only problem I see with the 2-liter trap is how to NOT catch rain water!

If you trap wasps, you not protecting bee hives:) In nest are cca 7.000 yellowjackets and if they really want to attack, kill bees in hive so easy:) But don´t (try to) trap European hornets - they are protecting beehives because they kill dangerous hornets and wasps. E. hornets are very low aggresive. Great video ;)
