The show is Beste Zangers. The older guy is Henk Poort, Floor does Phantom of the Opera with him a few times, he even guested at a nightwish concert. The others are all famous successful dutch+other european singers, the show format is them basically singing songs to each other, in some cases sing each others songs. Well worth doing the rest of Floors performances from this. And yes, she nails every single song, even the ones in other languages - there is a german one and a spanish one i recall.

So you got here. This performance was recorded in the TV show "Beste Zangers" 2019 edition, a show where every year 7 singers of various musical genres from the Netherlands are invited to a resort in Ibiza (Spain), together with a moderator. There, in each of the first 7 episodes, one of the singers sits next to the moderator, and the other 6 sing for him/her covers of songs from his/her repertoire or of songs significant to him/her. In the last episode (the 8th), the invited musicians perform duets. At the time she was invited in Beste Zangers, Floor was very little known in the Netherlands, where the metal genre is considered underground and is not broadcast in the mainstream audio-visual media. With each episode, thanks to her brilliant performances (like this one), Floor became more and more famous in her own country, after 2 decades of worldwide success, so she was asked to perform solo concerts in the Netherlands, which she did, performing 9 concerts with public at the beginning of 2020, until the start of the global lockdown. If you are interested, you will find on Floor's YT channel an entire concert from Amsterdam in September 2021, professionally recorded following a crowdfunding campaign organized by Floor, which reached its proposed goal in just a few hours after its launch.

No, the _original_ version of 1983 was by its writers Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly performing as i-Ten. Heart's was a 1987 cover, though a very good one, of course (there were others). As performers Steinberg and Kelly did not achieve great success, but they wrote many songs made famous by others.
The other singers on the show are fantastic in their own right (it's not a competition), but Floor killed it time after time. She was practically unknown in her native Holland before the show, but is a household name now. At one point she had a stranglehold on the itunes top 5 in Holland with the songs from Beste Zangers.
The versions with subs intro and outro gives you more context. This song is a duett with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from a movie. I just love everything Floor did on that tv show. And the movie is fantastic you should really watch it

It's a brilliant version for sure, but the Gaga version they used in the movie it is from, A Star is Born is fantastic... the context of the song in the movie is perfect as a duet with Bradley Cooper... the live version on the Academy Awards is also a great version...

I also love Floor more than any other singer. She is an empath (highly sensitive, her father talked about it in an interview) which at the same time is a gift and a curse for her. She learned to transform and express it within her songs. I am sure therefore so many people are deeply moved when listening to her. And she is a great artist as well as a kind humble person. Of course there are many more great female singers on this planet; I have listened to many of them. But none of them was able to move me like Floor does every time.
Hi dear, Floor is goddess for me too. Never in my 64 years I have seen a better female singer. I have around 80 links to videos that include her from her beginning with After Forever or even before. Then all the side projects likeayreon and so on up to Nightwish. And I never had one that didn't reach the highest standards.Greetings from Germany!

From the same show the one that always gets tears in my eyes (from Floors interpretation and the feelings she convey with her singing) is "Floor Jansen - About Love I dont Know A Thing (2019) + intro and outro (With eng subtitles)" - the song is made by the youngest male of participants and from his parents divorce, UUUH it is just so JUMMY for one's feelings :) This version has also the precomments/prediscussions and the after song ones, gives you more subtance and understanding (also a snippet of the original song video is shown). Also the song creator listening is in tears/crying listening Floor's version! He says that "It is absurd how you make every song better.."

You have to watch she and Hanke Poort do Phantom of the Opera from this show. It will leave with goose bumps and your chin on your chest. You prolly want to follow that by watching Nightwish with Floor and Henke do Phantom of the Opera at Amsterdam. Both Phantom versions are beyond words.

If you do more performances from this 2019 show Beste Zangers, please use versions that have the into and outro subtitles (YT channel called "Floor Op TV" has them) -- I think that's real important to understand why they're doing what they're doing with each song, and you'll get much more out of it. Those watching are professional singers in their own right. The older gentleman is Henk Poort, which Floor sang Phantom of the Opera with in this show and a few times since, including with Nightwish. There are many performances from Beste Zangers worth watching.

It is worth doing because you get the context behind the song choice, and what the other guests thought of the performance The first time they heard Floor was when she sang 'Vilja Lied'. It is wonderful seeing the stunned looks on their faces when they first hear Floor sing. Highly recommended

Yes it's right, you should do every song from this series. They are all good. Their were 7 maybe 8 song from this Beste Zangers show. Start with the first week and do them all. You will love them.

I personally don't think Floor's album Paragon competes with her cover songs, Beste Zanger's, and Sing Mien Song performances. While Love Died is better than any of her Paragon songs. Paragon has no replay value for me.

The one from this show that gets me is "Que Si Siente". A song in a style she has never done before, in a language she can't speak, in front of the composer/singer. This woman can jump into a smooth Latin rhythm and blows the mind of the original artist in front of her. His face screams "Oh my god, this is my song!!!"

Floor was chosen because metal singers are all but unknown in the Dutch music scene. Floor was unknown as a singer in her own country of birth. This was 2019. The older gentleman was an inspiration for Floor as she grew up - he played the Phantom in the stage version of "Phantom of the Opera" - his name is Henk Poort. I don't remember all their names. One man is a salsa singer famous in Latin countries in the islands in the Caribbean and South America. Another man is Tim Akerman. The other gentleman sings Country music I believe (could be wrong). One of the women is famous on YT -Emma Heesters- (ironically born the same year NW began making music) for covering tons of songs and has millions of viewers. The other is a pop singer famous in the Netherlands I believe.

This is the opposite of opera, but it's perfect because of what it says about a truly gifted vocalist. In the summer of 2019, an obscure (outside of Holland,anyway) Dutch musical reality show suddenly blew up on the internet. The format was not a competition, but a round-robin in which a group of successful recording artists took turns singing for each other. The main reason for the burst of attention was the presence of Floor Jansen, the lead singer for Nightwish. Week after week, she stepped out of her lane to sing ballads, salsa, opera, pop, country…pretty much everything. Here she is, covering Lady Gaga’s hit Shallow. Known for her huge sound, she goes small with this one, giving it a new interpretation which I think is better than the original. You should watch all of her clips from this show, culminating with her duet with Henk Poort on "Phantom of the Opera". That one broke the internet.
For other solo stuff... "Winner" from this same show always makes me cry. Partly because of Floor, but partly because of the song itself. If you have a dry eye after watching her performance... you have a heart of stone! It's a song Tim Akkerman (one of the other people in the Beste Zangers show) wrote for his brother, who is disabled. Floor wanted to sing it as a sort of tribute to anyone who's gone through adversity in their lives. Or... if you want to get multiple Floorgasms, check her rendition of "Qué Se Siente". Whether or not this is a Lady Gaga song, per se, depends on what point of view one chooses. It is the theme song from the movie "A Star Is Born" and Lady Gaga sang the official version (as a duet with Bradley Cooper). This is a Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers" (English translation, Best Singers, kind of obvious I guess) wherein it is not a competition but a friendly encounter. Seven popular Dutch singers are selected each season, each one getting their "turn on the couch" for one episode while the others pick one song that is special in some way to the person on the couch and sing it for them. No real "winners" or "losers" just good, clean, good-natured fun and camaraderie. Besides Floor, the other six appearing here are: 1. Henk Poort (the old guy). He is a highly respected opera baritone renowned as legendary for his part playing The Phantom in the Dutch version of the Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera. In the final episode, Floor does a duet with Henk of Phantom....a real stunner, one continuous Floorgasm from beginning to end! In the opening episode, Henk is "on the couch" and Floor sings for him a song from his childhood that his Mom used to sing and it would make his Dad cry. It was "Vilja Lied," an aria from the 19th Century German operetta "The Merry Widow." Floor sang it for him in German. (Keep in mind her day job is in English, while her native tongue is Dutch!) She did succeed in bringing Henk to tears. Floor was not very well-known in her homeland prior to this show, because much like the U.S., metal is not popular as a mainstream music genre in the Netherlands. The looks on the others' faces when she got up to do the opening song of the season made many of us think they were silently thinking, "Oh look, a metal chick. How cute. What's she gonna do, growl for us?" And then she opened her mouth. Jaws were on the floor (no pun intended...oh who the hell am I kidding, of course the pun was intended). 2. Tim Akkerman (the young guy with the curly blonde beard). He is a Dutch rock singer/composer and was the only one in the audience who did know of Floor a little bit. On the final duets episode, Floor does a duet with Tim which is another arrangement of Shallow where Floor only does the Lady Gaga parts and Tim plays guitar and does the male vocals. While she intentionally toned down this version to be very low key, the duet with Tim is more aggressive and lively. She sits on a stool during most of the performance while Tim stands and plays guitar. During the buildup to the final chorus, she slowly stands up from the stool, towering over Tim, and we were all thinking, "Oh no! Oh no! She's about to go full Nightwish on him! Please, Floor, don't injure the poor boy too badly!" Fortunately our Valkyrie Goddess was merciful and held back just enough to spare his life. 🤣 3. Samantha Steenwijk (the attractive older blonde woman). She is a Dutch, I guess one would say "Folk" singer/songwriter. Floor sings one of her own songs, MaMa, back to her. And she sings it in her native Dutch. 4. Rolf Sanchez (the young Latino-looking guy with the attractive smile of huge white teeth). He is half-Dutch, half-Dominican and spends his time 6 months in the Netherlands and 6 months in the U.S., Miami I think. He is very popular in the Latino community. Floor sings one of his number one hits for him, a Caribbean salsa song "Que Se Siente." Floor gives him a metalized version of the salsa, if you can imagine that! And she sings it in Spanish. Recall that her day job is in English, her native tongue is Dutch, and she has already sung a song in German just a couple episodes before. In other venues she has been known to sing also in Italian, Latin, Finnish, and Swedish. Just sayin'. 5. Emma Heesters (the attractive young blonde woman). She is a Dutch TH-cam star who does covers of many famous artists including Shallow. That is why Floor sang Shallow here for Emma's day on the couch. 6. Ruben Annink (the very young guy). He is a Dutch country singer/songwriter. Floor does a version of his own song "About Love, I Don't Know a Thing" which was a very sad song for him he wrote about his parents' unfriendly divorce when he was younger. He wrote the lyrics in Dutch, but Floor translated it to English here with the help of her sister Irene. She succeeded in bringing him to tears. The one extra guy on the couch is the show host. She makes grown up Metal Guys crying like babies. 😉 Funfact to the song: Lady Gaga heard her version (it went viral) and congratulated her for her version. If you need more tears: After all she went through (exhausting tour,the pandemic and her cancer diagnosis) she sang sleeping sun and bursted out in tears ( i thought it was in Amsterdam?). And when Floor cries, we cry. I'm happy you found her and you are already under her spell. Go and check out when she and Henk Poort (the dutch Phantom of the Opera and by Webber the best one) performed The Phantom of the Opera live after many years with Nightwish. If you want a Floor song that's not so well known. She had an album in a band called Northwind - they have a great single called When Love Died that's awesome. Or go right back to early days Floor. Her first major band 'After Forever' was brilliant. Energize Me is the popular choice. But my personal favourite is Intrinsic off the Decipher Album, her voice on that track is stunning.
So this video is from a Dutch show where they bring famous Duchess singers from all genres together, and they basically sing songs from the other singer’s genres. So the people on the couch who are visibly impressed and emotional are actually famous singers. It just shows how great Floor is. And prior to those show, Floor was not well known in her home country, because heavy metal music is not popular there. Needless to say after this show, she became much much better known.
Beste Zangers 2019: Floor was first up to sing in this series, almost nobody knew her or what she was capable of, then she started of the series with “Vilja Lied” (Vilja’s Song) sung for Henk. Jaws dropped, everyone looked at each other and were like “are you hearing this?”
Being a Nightwish and Floor Jansen fan made me a better human. Believe me, Floor is my role model, though she's youger than me. Her view of life aligns with mine, the love for nature, the sea, etc. I could send her kisses through a window in london, once. Floor sent me a kiss back. Achievements 🤩
The show is a group of artists performing each other song or song related to them. Most songs have a bit of background to the artist being sung for. If you get the longer versions it has the artists chatting, it comes with subtitles. The songs suddenly add even more emotion.

So you got here. This performance was recorded in the TV show "Beste Zangers" 2019 edition, a show where every year 7 singers of various musical genres from the Netherlands are invited to a resort in Ibiza (Spain), together with a moderator. There, in each of the first 7 episodes, one of the singers sits next to the moderator, and the other 6 sing for him/her covers of songs from his/her repertoire or of songs significant to him/her. In the last episode (the 8th), the invited musicians perform duets.
At the time she was invited in Beste Zangers, Floor was very little known in the Netherlands, where the metal genre is considered underground and is not broadcast in the mainstream audio-visual media. With each episode, thanks to her brilliant performances (like this one), Floor became more and more famous in her own country, after 2 decades of worldwide success, so she was asked to perform solo concerts in the Netherlands, which she did, performing 9 concerts with public at the beginning of 2020, until the start of the global lockdown.
If you are interested, you will find on Floor's YT channel an entire concert from Amsterdam in September 2021, professionally recorded following a crowdfunding campaign organized by Floor, which reached its proposed goal in just a few hours after its launch.

No, the _original_ version of 1983 was by its writers Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly performing as i-Ten. Heart's was a 1987 cover, though a very good one, of course (there were others). As performers Steinberg and Kelly did not achieve great success, but they wrote many songs made famous by others.
The other singers on the show are fantastic in their own right (it's not a competition), but Floor killed it time after time. She was practically unknown in her native Holland before the show, but is a household name now. At one point she had a stranglehold on the itunes top 5 in Holland with the songs from Beste Zangers.
The versions with subs intro and outro gives you more context. This song is a duett with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from a movie. I just love everything Floor did on that tv show. And the movie is fantastic you should really watch it

This is not a Lady GagGag song. It's Floor Jansen's song now. Any song Floor does, don't even worry about listening to other versions. We would probably never have seen or heard Floor's other side of musical excellence if it wasn't for Covid. Floor is the best thing in music since the late 80's.
It's a brilliant version for sure, but the Gaga version they used in the movie it is from, A Star is Born is fantastic... the context of the song in the movie is perfect as a duet with Bradley Cooper... the live version on the Academy Awards is also a great version...

I also love Floor more than any other singer. She is an empath (highly sensitive, her father talked about it in an interview) which at the same time is a gift and a curse for her. She learned to transform and express it within her songs. I am sure therefore so many people are deeply moved when listening to her. And she is a great artist as well as a kind humble person. Of course there are many more great female singers on this planet; I have listened to many of them. But none of them was able to move me like Floor does every time.

From the same show the one that always gets tears in my eyes (from Floors interpretation and the feelings she convey with her singing) is "Floor Jansen - About Love I dont Know A Thing (2019) + intro and outro (With eng subtitles)" - the song is made by the youngest male of participants and from his parents divorce, UUUH it is just so JUMMY for one's feelings :) This version has also the precomments/prediscussions and the after song ones, gives you more subtance and understanding (also a snippet of the original song video is shown). Also the song creator listening is in tears/crying listening Floor's version! He says that "It is absurd how you make every song better.."

You have to watch she and Hanke Poort do Phantom of the Opera from this show. It will leave with goose bumps and your chin on your chest. If you do more performances from this 2019 show Beste Zangers, please use versions that have the into and outro subtitles (YT channel called "Floor Op TV" has them) -- I think that's real important to understand why they're doing what they're doing with each song, and you'll get much more out of it. Those watching are professional singers in their own right. The older gentleman is Henk Poort, which Floor sang Phantom of the Opera with in this show and a few times since, including with Nightwish. There are many performances from Beste Zangers worth watching.

The one from this show that gets me is "Que Si Siente". A song in a style she has never done before, in a language she can't speak, in front of the composer/singer. This woman can jump into a smooth Latin rhythm and blows the mind of the original artist in front of her. His face screams "Oh my god, this is my song!!!"
The show is Beste Zangers (Best Singers) that airs in the Netherlands. All the singers you see are Dutch. They come from various genres. Floor was chosen because metal singers are all but unknown in the Dutch music scene. Floor was unknown as a singer in her own country of birth. This was 2019. The older gentleman was an inspiration for Floor as she grew up - he played the Phantom in the stage version of "Phantom of the Opera" - his name is Henk Poort. I don't remember all their names. One man is a salsa singer famous in Latin countries in the islands in the Caribbean and South America. Another man is Tim Akerman. The other gentleman sings Country music I believe (could be wrong). One of the women is famous on YT -Emma Heesters- (ironically born the same year NW began making music) for covering tons of songs and has millions of viewers. The other is a pop singer famous in the Netherlands I believe.

Floor is incredible. She opened the first evening of the season "Beste Zangers". You have to know that Floor Jansen was not known to the general public in the Netherlands at that time. On the first evening the older man Henk Poort was the center of attention. Floor sang the "Vilja song" from "The Merry Widow" for him. This is the opposite of opera, but it's perfect because of what it says about a truly gifted vocalist. In the summer of 2019, an obscure (outside of Holland,anyway) Dutch musical reality show suddenly blew up on the internet. The format was not a competition, but a round-robin in which a group of successful recording artists took turns singing for each other. The main reason for the burst of attention was the presence of Floor Jansen, the lead singer for Nightwish. Week after week, she stepped out of her lane to sing ballads, salsa, opera, pop, country…pretty much everything. Here she is, covering Lady Gaga’s hit Shallow. Known for her huge sound, she goes small with this one, giving it a new interpretation which I think is better than the original. You should watch all of her clips from this show, culminating with her duet with Henk Poort on "Phantom of the Opera". That one broke the internet.
For other solo stuff... "Winner" from this same show always makes me cry. Partly because of Floor, but partly because of the song itself. If you have a dry eye after watching her performance... you have a heart of stone! It's a song Tim Akkerman (one of the other people in the Beste Zangers show) wrote for his brother, who is disabled. Floor wanted to sing it as a sort of tribute to anyone who's gone through adversity in their lives.
Or... if you want to get multiple Floorgasms, check her rendition of "Qué Se Siente". Because the girl can sing in multiple languages. And this is a version of a song done by another guy on that show, Rolf Sanchez. The drive and passion she puts into her version is something else.

Whether or not this is a Lady Gaga song, per se, depends on what point of view one chooses. It is the theme song from the movie "A Star Is Born" and Lady Gaga sang the official version (as a duet with Bradley Cooper). This is a Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers" (English translation, Best Singers, kind of obvious I guess) wherein it is not a competition but a friendly encounter. Seven popular Dutch singers are selected each season, each one getting their "turn on the couch" for one episode while the others pick one song that is special in some way to the person on the couch and sing it for them. No real "winners" or "losers" just good, clean, good-natured fun and camaraderie. Besides Floor, the other six appearing here are:
1. Henk Poort (the old guy). He is a highly respected opera baritone renowned as legendary for his part playing The Phantom in the Dutch version of the Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera. In the final episode, Floor does a duet with Henk of Phantom....a real stunner, one continuous Floorgasm from beginning to end! In the opening episode, Henk is "on the couch" and Floor sings for him a song from his childhood that his Mom used to sing and it would make his Dad cry. It was "Vilja Lied," an aria from the 19th Century German operetta "The Merry Widow." Floor sang it for him in German. (Keep in mind her day job is in English, while her native tongue is Dutch!) She did succeed in bringing Henk to tears. Floor was not very well-known in her homeland prior to this show, because much like the U.S., metal is not popular as a mainstream music genre in the Netherlands. The looks on the others' faces when she got up to do the opening song of the season made many of us think they were silently thinking, "Oh look, a metal chick. How cute. What's she gonna do, growl for us?" And then she opened her mouth. Jaws were on the floor (no pun intended...oh who the hell am I kidding, of course the pun was intended).
2. Tim Akkerman (the young guy with the curly blonde beard). He is a Dutch rock singer/composer and was the only one in the audience who did know of Floor a little bit. On the final duets episode, Floor does a duet with Tim which is another arrangement of Shallow where Floor only does the Lady Gaga parts and Tim plays guitar and does the male vocals. While she intentionally toned down this version to be very low key, the duet with Tim is more aggressive and lively. She sits on a stool during most of the performance while Tim stands and plays guitar. During the buildup to the final chorus, she slowly stands up from the stool, towering over Tim, and we were all thinking, "Oh no! Oh no! She's about to go full Nightwish on him! Please, Floor, don't injure the poor boy too badly!" Fortunately our Valkyrie Goddess was merciful and held back just enough to spare his life. 🤣
3. Samantha Steenwijk (the attractive older blonde woman). She is a Dutch, I guess one would say "Folk" singer/songwriter. Floor sings one of her own songs, MaMa, back to her. And she sings it in her native Dutch.
4. Rolf Sanchez (the young Latino-looking guy with the attractive smile of huge white teeth). He is half-Dutch, half-Dominican and spends his time 6 months in the Netherlands and 6 months in the U.S., Miami I think. He is very popular in the Latino community. Floor sings one of his number one hits for him, a Caribbean salsa song "Que Se Siente." Floor gives him a metalized version of the salsa, if you can imagine that! And she sings it in Spanish. Recall that her day job is in English, her native tongue is Dutch, and she has already sung a song in German just a couple episodes before. In other venues she has been known to sing also in Italian, Latin, Finnish, and Swedish. Just sayin'.
5. Emma Heesters (the attractive young blonde woman). She is a Dutch TH-cam star who does covers of many famous artists including Shallow. That is why Floor sang Shallow here for Emma's day on the couch.
6. Ruben Annink (the very young guy). He is a Dutch country singer/songwriter. Floor does a version of his own song "About Love, I Don't Know a Thing" which was a very sad song for him he wrote about his parents' unfriendly divorce when he was younger. He wrote the lyrics in Dutch, but Floor translated it to English here with the help of her sister Irene. She succeeded in bringing him to tears.

So this video is from a Dutch show where they bring famous Duchess singers from all genres together, and they basically sing songs from the other singer’s genres.
So the people on the couch who are visibly impressed and emotional are actually famous singers. It just shows how great Floor is.
And prior to those show, Floor was not well known in her home country, because heavy metal music is not popular there.
Needless to say after this show, she became much much better known.
Beste Zangers 2019: Floor was first up to sing in this series, almost nobody knew her or what she was capable of, then she started of the series with “Vilja Lied” (Vilja’s Song) sung for Henk. Jaws dropped, everyone looked at each other and were like “are you hearing this?”
Being a Nightwish and Floor Jansen fan made me a better human. Believe me, Floor is my role model, though she's youger than me. Her view of life aligns with mine, the love for nature, the sea, etc.

The show is a group of artists performing each other song or song related to them. Most songs have a bit of background to the artist being sung for. If you get the longer versions it has the artists chatting, it comes with subtitles. The songs suddenly add even more emotion.
