Yes, they behaved absolutely terrible. But….they were responding to a call FROM the hospital to remove this woman from the premises. So they would naturally view her as a drunken old alcoholic. This in no way condones their actions, NOBODY should be treated like that! The Hospital should bare the same if not more responsibility.
Remember the Doctors had assured them there was nothing wrong with her. When a medical professional tells a police officer that they do tend to believe them yet here you all are blaming the police for death by inept doctors. So what punishment are you going to call down on the inept doctors? Nothing? Oh it's more fashionable to blame the police for everything. Shame on you.
pisses me off that this literally happened in my city & where I live. but, I’m not surprised. the Knox county officers are assholes ( not all of them, but definitely a large portion )
@desmew1249 yeah it sucks when you hear your city in the media then you see its under a negative light, I know the feeling just gotta remember that the good outnumber the bad or society would've collapsed a long time ago because of the bad eggs. As a disabled woman of almost 60, seeing Lisa treated this way is both appalling and terrifying. I have had several hospital stays, and I KNOW that some people are seen as a nuisance and not treated properly or like a human being at all. I know this because I used to be an RN before I had to medically reire but I witnessed many treatment failures over the years. We humans can be despicable creatures both to other people and animals. My heart will always remember the torture she endured at the hands of both the hospital staff who failed her NOT realising or recognising or even caring what her actual serious health issues were and the Police who brutalised this woman to her actual death. Yet NO ONE has been nor will be held responsible! It's absolutely shameful. RIP Lisa, and I'm very sorry that you died that way!
They murdered her. No ifs ands or buts. And got away with it. It's vital someone is looking out for you at all times, in case you are ever too ill or injured (wether you are young or old). Otherwise chances are no one will protect you or care. Sadly.
@gregatkinson7276 It means that my body was so messed up that the hospital could no longer employ me because I was too much of a risk for a Worker's Compensation scheme to provide any cover for injury or death. I then received a great reference from the hospital to work in the private sector, which I did for another 3 years until it simply made it too painful to continue, although I loved my job dearly! was then paid out by the Superannuation funds for the public and private sector, which also paid me monthly as I wasn't allowed to work. This was paid out in a lump sum after my forced retirement and once again in May this year as I turn 60 in November, and so they pay 6 months in advance of that date if you so choose. I have had 9 orthopaedic surgeries so far, but I will need more as I grow older as the prosthetics I have don't usually last more than 15 years, and mine are older than that! I hope that this answers your question!
This police department was shameful as were these cops. This poor woman died unnecessarily because of a “doctor” who said to the cops “she was okay” and dismiss her from the hospital. What kind of a doctor was that??? A “rookie” doctor just out of medical school???? And what kind of police officers were these cops??? Hello ……. It is appalling that these officers didn’t even bother to check on this lady who kept complaint she couldn’t walk nor breathed. Shame on all of them. I would have brought charges against the police department and FIRED these cops ON THE SPOT for not providing the help that this lady needed it. They should be for accountable for their actions. But not to do anything about it sends the wrong message. Unbelievable case, really pitiful, revolting and pathetic.
Helen couldn't swim - that's why she stayed in shallower parts of the pool.. She simply made the extremely wrong decision to venture out to the deeper parts. That footage is so haunting, and it gets me -every- time. One single life altering decision... May she rest in peace.
I sobbed over the story of Lisa Edwards. My god. I hope those who tortured that poor women in her last moments of life suffer 10 fold the damage done to her.
If you can't swim - don't go to a deep pool, it's simple. It's not accident, it's dumbness. If you're not know how to drive, and you drive and crash a car - nobody will call this an accident. Real tragedy is next story - that poor cops suffer for 4 and 10 days without they hard earn money, bc of this cruel and horrible woman, who decide to depart to another world on them shift. So sad, poor guys need extra life-long donut subscription for this accident
Back in 2010 my best friend stole a 4 wheeler, took it out on the highway at night, when a cop passed him and the guy riding with him. The cop turned around and began a pursuit. My friend decided to run, and either couldnt see, or tried to take a shortcut through a ditch. He was going pretty fast so when he hit the ditch it threw him over the handlebars then the 4 wheeler smashed into a culvert pipe at high speed. He was still holding on, so the pipe cut him in half. The guy on the back got thrown over the culvert and survived. I went to see my friends body in the hospital and he had no blood in him. The next day we went to see where he crashed, there was blood everywhere and it splashed all the way to the other side of the culvert pipe, 40 feet long. There was so much blood. 14 years ago. My friend was 17 years old. He would be 31 today
I remember hearing about this case and there was an explanation behind it. Hellen’s death happened because she technically couldn’t swim and she was streaming in the shallow end of the pool. At some point, she wandered into the deep end of the pool and since no one was with her…..I cannot imagine what her parents felt when they heard about it. I hope they are alright.
If i was searching up what causes stroke etc and i was a officer when helping lisa, i will tell all the officers to take her back to the hospital and make them take her to a room. She is explaining a stroke / heart attack and or DVT. She wasn't trying to trick you or avoid being arrested.
6:44 she couldn swim , she was swimming and playing in the shallow end of the pool and accidentally swam too far out and panicked when her feet couldn’t touch the floor
In case of stroke woman, you cant put all blame on officers. I primary blame hospital and staff in charge of treating her. Medical staff and hospital called police on wrong accusation so police had missinformation that she is faking being ill. Hospital should have let her be on watch in case of complications but they did not listen to her, did not listen to their patient that probably had to pay fortune for treatment. Now blame I put on officers is inability to properly arrest her and letting her stay on the ground. They should have got her in police car properly with officers holding her, and not shoving her like an animal in the cage. This police behaviour accelerated her death.
@FarmSimGuy23DOING THEIR JOB??? DOING THEIR JOB?????? The case with Helen … she didn’t know how to swim….. like not even a little… she misinterpreted the depth of the pool…. But yeah… don’t swim in a pool alone if you can’t in fact swim at all
Every one of these stories has a tragic meaning. But the one that is the most tragic is the woman who died in the hands of the police and the hospital that summoned the police to remove her from the hospital. I’m always amazed at the lack of empathy that people have for others. I realize that people do abuse emergency services, but when do you ignore someone’s pleas for help that results in their death. I would have a very difficult time justifying my actions, yet these people could care less.
The American justice system never seizes to amaze me, especially when it involves their police. Many of them treat 'suspects' with such disdain and cruelty and are even ready to shoot at the slightest opportunity because they usually get off with little or no punishment.
The lady who had a strok, my heart goes out to her. It's terrible. I'll tell it's terrible as it was.I can't really blame the police officers. They hear people say things like this a lot. I blame the hospital. If you're a cop(not a doctor), who are you going to believe?
Wow, that poor woman Lisa, and of how the hospital and the officers treated her. I'm 60 ( male ) and with my life's luck, I'll probably end up like her one day..

How do you KICK OUT a patient that is communicating a history of stroke, suspects might be having a stroke, and is complaining of discomfort in her right leg, like that at least gives a differential of thrombosis--which is ALSO an emergency and requires a CT/angiogram/MRI to rule out (which would have shown the stroke, btw).
