      So what do you recommend?

@@funnydaily3365 I regularly defend a bigger opponent in the post and I stand either right beside him, trying to denying the ball with one arm, or simply behind him, trying to push him away from the basket or simply to guard him after he got the ball...standing in front of a bigger offensive player is always a recipe for desaster if the passer knows what he is doing...

When you're going to front your player, it's better to move around from the baseline side, because you have more help if he pivots into the paint.

Guys find me one place in the rules where it says you can’t push a player unless you do it with your “back or legs.” That’s NOT in the rules. The rules say you CANNOT push a player PERIOD. You can use your body to create a solid wall to prevent the player from moving into YOUR space but you cannot displace him from his own position. This is a personal FOUL.. Get it right or go play football.

handcheck is probably more acceptable when boxing out a player but not when defending a player with the ball. im almost 50yo and a player told me off today for using my forearm when trying to box him out. im watching this to see what is acceptable but i dont think the defence shown in video is acceptable these days.

“Using your forearm to prevent the post player from moving forward” is a FOUL. Look it up before you start handing out expert advice. Post play is rough and as refs we give lots of slack. Stiff arming players from moving to places they have a right to be is not tolerated.
