- This was originally uploaded about two years ago on "WCPR1620AM's" channel, so I decided to reupload this one, because in celebration of Disney where they purchased Lucasfilm for $4.5 billion back on Halloween Eve and a new "Star Wars" film is in development called "Episode 7" which will be coming out in theaters by 2015, I will present to you with this one.
This album was released in 1977 on the 20th Century-Fox label, it has a full color booklet with pictures from the film. The album was narrated by Roscoe Lee Browne and it features music and dialogue from the film soundtrack. This album received the gold record and it was a commercial success. The album was later released in 1983 on the Buena Vista label.
If you listen carefully at the beginning, you will hear the original Alfred Newman recording of the "20th Century-Fox Fanfare", this was the only time it appeared on "The Story of Star Wars" LP. This was the one that opened a lot of movies from 20th Century-Fox over the years, far better than Bruce Broughton and David Newman's versions of the fanfare. You should give "rod1014" credit for this one that he hates the David Newman's version. I hope the original Alfred Newman recording should bring it back for future Fox movies. Fox produced 6 of the "Star Wars" films over the years, but I hope Disney should have a shot on working for "Episode 7" in the "Star Wars" continuing saga by 2015.

I had (actually, still have) this record as a kid. Before VHS, this was as close as we could get. I must have listened to this a couple hundred times.

My dad got me a copy of the cassette from his friend. Between listening to the tape and watching the movie everyday on the “ON” tv network. I had a great summer and a great childhood. I still a copy of the cassette today. Used to play it in my car when I was stuck in traffic.
I had this on 8 track as a kid - best christmas present I ever got! I listened to this about 4 times a day for years.
I got it on cassette.. over and over again I listened to it.. until the wondrous moment when momma took me to a late night showing of the film on its second time around our local theatre, after all the other little tykes at school had already seen it... and I was in heaven....
