I had this album on vinyl as a kid. I found it at a small department store back home (spring of either ‘81 or ‘82) and mistook it for the movie’s score. Got my mom to buy it for my upcoming birthday and was surprised to find this instead. If anything, I loved it even more than the musical score; this was before you could buy or rent the movie on VHS, so being able to relive watching it with actual dialogue and sound FX from the film was a dream come true. Thanks for sharing this! ❤😊
Wow the sound quality on this is amazing! It's narrated by Malachi Throne (Commodore Mendez in ST: the Menagerie). I have the vinyl but the cover has a painting of the Luke and Vader lightsaber duel at Cloud City.
Hey, thanks for this! 👍🏻 I remembered when my parents got me the Return of the Jedi read-along album at a convenient store and it also had this one too. I've always wanted to get it years later, only to discover that it is here on TH-cam, ditto for the Star Wars A New Hope 8-track! Thanks to TH-cam and you, my collection of these read-along albums (apart from the DVDs) completes my collection! 👌🏻 I look forward to seeing more of your content! You just earned a new subscriber! 🙂
Remember it well as a young padewan learner, I do!!! Mmmm!!! Mmmm!!! Like the narrator's voice. Can't quite recall his name to though. He did a fabulous job here!!! 🙂👌👌🙏🙏💯
This is incredible! I did not know this existed, not sure if it was ever published in the Scandinavian part of the world. If I had this, I know I would have listened to it every hour of the day growing up in the 80s😃 Thanks for sharing this👍 It is incredible quality, and interesting to hear that they probably had access to some master tapes with clear voices and were using actual movie soundscape 👌 Interesting to hear the custom edits and flow for this mix, it is masterfully done and to think it was released same time as the movie, just👌
I was asking ChatGPT to help me remember the film with the line “I feel like…” “Feel like what?” “Like I’m being watched” but it didn’t know then I remembered it was from Empire when Luke meets Yoda for the first time but apparently it want in the film so I figured it must have been in this recording that I listened to over and over again. Yep 17:10
Yes it is. Chewbacca immediately attacks the stormtroopers after Vader orders Han frozen. Fett draws his gun on Chewbacca and Vader angrily swats Fett's arm down.
Thank you so much for this!!! I just found out about these recordings and I'm in love!! I'm an 90s kid who hate everything they have done to this franchise more and days and listening to these is like the color wars but better!!! This is not the same narrator from the return of the Jedi cat cassette from Ryan The Film Makers channel is it?
Had this as a kid. Couldn't stop listening to it after getting it. Glad to see it here.

Man I used to crank this one (and the first Star wars LP) as loud as I could and listened to it endlessly.

Malachi Throne was also False Face in the Batman Series.
I had it on cassette tape when it came out, and listened to it probably more more than 100 times lol.
Excellent sound too !
AT LAST! Been looking for this one! Have no idea how many times I heard this at my Nana's. Memories.
Thank you to the poster. I listened to this daily for years when I was a kid❤
ME TOOO!!! All three!! A story record is so crazy when you think about it now!
STAR WARS 5 THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!
45TH ANNIVERSARY!
1980-2025!
May The Force Be With You!
The sound is crisp and clear.... nicely done
I'm surprised they kept the "then I'll see you in Hell!" line in a children's adaptation.
Kids weren't treated like extreme babies back then. We learned life hard and unfair so get used to it.

That was so good! They should make a movie version of this story.

This is really cool! I have The Story of Star Wars album on vinyl, but I don't have this one. Thanks for sharing this!👍
Same here. I didn't know this existed. Wore my old Story of Star Wars LP out listening to it so much.
nice one. really liked it.
41:35 the line "princess, we'll find han, I promise." is an alternate take that can be heard in the original 70mm cut.
I had this album 💥💥
This is real! I was starting to think I imagined it.
I remember this but I seem to remember my version was narrated by James Earl Jones
ROSCOE LEE BROWNE probably, the one I listened to as a kid
Found a mint copy , great memories

Is this not the same recording as The Adventures of Luke Skywalker?
In an alternate universe, Malachi Throne would have made a great Darth Vader.
When Vader says 'put him in' at the start of the Carbon Freezing scene... that wasn't in the movie was it..?
Yes it is. Chewbacca immediately attacks the stormtroopers after Vader orders Han frozen. Fett draws his gun on Chewbacca and Vader angrily swats Fett's arm down.

No it isn't. The ROTJ Narrator is Chuck Riley. This is Malachi Throne.
