Midnight sun, polar bear chocolates, mini scissors, yarn, yarn and more yarn....sounds like heaven. I hope to join you both one day! Thank you for this video.
Hi Arne and Carlos - it’s Christina here, I discovered you at the very beginning of the pandemic. You helped get me through, I knitted along with you knitting all those squares! I love your work, and thank you both for that lovely message. I was so excited I thought I could talk to you, and thanks to my precious and talented daughter, Heather for telling you about how much I enjoy your wonderful work.
They also helped me to get through the pandemic, they really blessed me with everything! My daughter also loves to hear me talking about Arne and Carlos, Norway, and their lives!
Don't apologize for the dull background. Arne's shirt is colorful enough! Seriously, thank you so much for sharing your knitting cruise with us, who can only be with you in spirit. Take care!
I love hearing stories from your knitting cruises! It's one of my favorite parts of your channel. So special that you saw a polar bear this year, from a safe distance. Also looking forward to more crochet patterns, especially garments!
Ienjoy the cozyness of he days getting shorter here in Nova Scotia. It is dark around 8:30pm these days. I wish they would stop with the daylight savings time. Great episode! THANK YOU! 🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
I love when you both go on these cruises and come back and tell us of all your adventures. The photos of the polar bear was amazing. The hat for your Goddaughter is such beautiful colors Carlos! Hope you guys made it home safely and are reunited with your little Freya!
Hello Arne & Carlos!!!! I’m from near Seattle, WA. I started following your page just a few months. I’m a very novice knitter. I usually do small projects. I taught myself from watching my Grandmother. She continued to knit even after she was paralyzed (on her left, non dominate side) after a stroke. But she taught me the throwing method. Your Norwegian way inspired me. It appealed to me that it is easier on your hands and tendons. I am in the middle of a small baby sweater using your videos!!! The purl was tricky and my tension is not great yet but I’m continuing to practice!!! Thank you soooo much for inspiring me!!! Your videos are the best and I love them soooo much!!
Thank you for a lovely podcast! I loved seeing your projects, and the lovely gift of American needle craft work. And you story of the trip way up in the aNorth of Norway where the scientists are was very fascinating! Sending lots of love to you both! From Katie in Maine USA, a knitter 🧶♥️
Candle wicking uses a heavier cotton thread which you pull over wax thus “ candle wick”. You follow an outline pattern using French knots. Loved doing it in the ‘80’s. I can visualize the dickie as a vest. Beautiful!
So glad you keep us up to date even when you are on the cruises. Love the short clips you send of them, too. They are so beautiful; I hope someday to see Norway in person!- Mary
I can see Arne working on something new from this book of patterns. Candle wicking takes special thread and it beautiful. It’s made a bit of a comeback here but I remember a huge comeback in 70’s or 80’s here. Yarn factories… WOW! I went to one in WY once. My husband drove me out just to tour this place. I loved every second😊
I squealed when Carlos talked about knitting the Reine Hat “me too! me too”. I’ve been teaching myself how to knit the Norwegian way by watching your videos. This is my first attempt at a project. The Reine hat is a great project. The pattern is easy to follow and it’s a meditative knit. The project is for my wife. You’ll be able to see it on the February cruise. We are looking forward to meeting you both in person. Thanks for letting us join in on your journey.
Love you guys ! So endearing , sweet, humorous ,Smart, sophisticated . Such gentlemen!!!!!!!!!!! Lol --I find I cannot knit and focus on you guys at the same time !! I start to make mistakes !! So , I’d much rather sit and NOT knit!! You guys are worth my full attention!!!! Carlos, I pray for your serenity in dealing with your mom’s ‘condition ’ . I am dealing with my own mom who is just entering dementia. So , we hold each other up ! Enjoyed the chat as usual . Much needed these days more than ever . Gorgeous scarf and dickie , Arne! Lucky Zoe!!!!!! Wish I had you for a relative!! Thanks for this . xx ❤ Marilyn USA ❤
Hi to you BOTH! Love listening to you both. You made me smile: the book you were gifted: American needlework...I have made projects out of the box since the seventies!!! So glad you will be able to read through...what a great box of ideas, please enjoy
I love that hillesvåg yarn. thank you for doing this from the ship. What a lovely trip! I wish I was there with our fun fun group from Last year!😢 I like Carlos as the model for all of Arne's projects 🎉 lucky lucky new little Zoe.
Thanks for sharing all your news from the cruise. Carlos, this was in our local paper this week for Virgo: "It's your birthday month, allow yourself to be celebrated, and celebrate your progress instead of only your achievements." So true in knitting and in life! Hope you have a great day!
Hi Guys. We are doing the Hurtigruten trip in October but I have a question for you. I spin as well as knit … can I buy rovings for spinning in Bergen before we board the boat ?? Would love to spin and knit a project as a souvenir of the trip. I looked on the yarn shop websites but they don’t mention any fibre for spinning …. Loving your sit n knit. Many thanks.
Happy Sunday! I have really enjoyed all of your travel reels and the beautiful views you shared. So glad the weather has been good for the trip and I am in awe of all the knitting and crochet Arne manages to work in between all of your adventures! Beautiful! Have a wonderful week! ❤❤😘
Background color is perfect for autumn’s fast approach here in New England. Nice to hear your cruise experience has been a success for the most part. Thank you so much for sharing the watercolor exhibit. I’m still in awe of the quality ❤
Thank you for taking us along with you on the journey. Your descriptions were so vivid I almost became “sea sick”. Such great fun always. Much love to you both.
Lovely to listen to you both whilst driving through the Coorong in Sth Australia. We are booked on the round trip with Havila this Nov. Us "new pensioners" cant afford the Hurtigruten cruise unfortunately.
Nice cruise, i loled da polar bear, although not native to Norway, still cool to see(from afar) Hey, Carlos you could be a stand in or substitute for Santa lol.😊
The book of American Needlework looks fabulous! I'll have to look it up online. The large piece at the top left of the box front looks like redwork which has an interesting history. Candlewicking is a very old form of embroidery using white thread on white fabric. You will have so much fun learning new types of needlework this winter!
I'm laughing at myself... I felt like I had "discovered" two cool Norwegian guys and have watched for awhile. Then I realized you are world famous Norwegian guys! 😂
Haha! I did the same thing a couple of years ago 😂 so when I realised that Arne and Carlos are really famous, I felt quite privileged to have been taught so much on their tutorials. Thanks guys 🙏🏼 You are excellent teachers. So relaxed 😎😊
Nothing dull about a Hurtigruten background! Think of it as golden-it makes a lovely reflection on your hair. 😊 Thank you for sharing another knitting cruise with us! I love the Reine hat, and maybe my head is a little smaller than yours?? A hand-knitted hat from Carlos, what a great gift! And I DO have the pattern just in case you don’t get it finished by Christmas 😂😂😂. Much love to you both😘
A lovely sit n knit as usual. Carlos happy birthday may you have many more. Arne, do you ever sleep? It absolutely amazes me the amount of projects you have going and finish. I feel like such a slacker. I am more of a Carlos, it gets done eventually!!!! Ideally enjoyed listening about this trip. Really so interesting and informative. Thank you both
Carlos, your hat knitting is looking good. I have that pattern on my list to knit. When I see you knit patterns, I am encouraged that I can knit those, too. Arne, the optics on the dickie are cool and look really well on bearded Carlos.😊
Thank you so much. Great to hear about your adventures in the Arctic Circle. When I was a child we had candlewick bedspreads. They were sort of fluffy in stripes - a bit like how you'd make a rug I imagine. Best Wishes
You are making me wish I were joining you and all my friends from Feb. 2023 next month! I know you will all have a wonderful time. That American Needlework box is a treasure. I remember seeing it in my youth, but I don’t think my mother bought it. You will have a lot of fun with it, I’m sure. I have to join you on another trip sometime, maybe another cruise, but I’m hoping for a garden tour. I already have some gifts for you ❤
Hi guys I am scared of hights to you were both brave to walk up I love hearing about your lives and that everyone is knitting what they like to do your knitting projects are beautiful well see you soon take care
Thank you for another fun time describing your adventures up the coast of Norway. That’s been on my bucket list for awhile. An idea for your goddaughter’s baby clothes, Carlos, is when I knit a sweater for a newborn I always also give a teddy bear. That way when the baby outgrows the garment the teddy bear ( or one of your creations) can wear it.
The book and patterns were written/edited by Rose Wilder Lane. Her mother was Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of a series of children's books often referred to Little House books. I highly recommend the books. In the seventies there was a US tv show based loosely on the books, "Little House on The Prairie"
I LOVE that your ship is actually delivering goods to the northern settlements and is so nice and small. The education of people and shutting off wifi / phones before going on shore is so great! Our National Parks system in Canada could learn from this. thank you so much for your inspiring video!!
I find I enjoy sitting down to crochet and putting TH-cam on to follow as I work. I'm currently trying to finish an afgan made in granny square stitch, my version of the Stained Glass pattern using up partial skeins. I have a couple of crochet pieces my grandmother was working on before she passed(over 10 years ago now) when she could still crochet, so I would like to do something with those next. I am trying to learn to knit, too. ❤❤❤
I did candlewicking when first married as cost was low using muslim fabric and embroidery thread. It was a period of American folk art revival decorating (1970)❤❤❤
Hi Arne & Carlos! Forgot to ask . Do you think there is enough yarn leftover from our mitten kits to make the Reine hat? Would you use the US 4 and 6 needles or smaller like we had in our kits? Connie
Yes so good to see you and your Godaughter will be happier knowing you my Godparents gave me a lavender / purple floral taffetta dress when I was about 7.! Your paperwork for instruction remains a mystery as does a white hat here at my home... I must have stashed it somewhere ...
I like the Norwegian saying "There's no shame in turning around and going back down". Is there another Norwegian saying such as "There's no shame in frogging and casting on again"? 🙂
I was cruising on another cruise ship at the same time you were. Thank you for introducing me to Brown cheese. We bought Brown cheese at every port. My 11 year old son loved it. Unfortunately we could not bring it aboard the ship. We made it our main meal while ashore.
The flower anemone sounds out : ah nem oh knee, accent on the nem..in the U.S. You both provided the color, despite the wall and shirts. Then, the UFOs appeared! I hope you put your hat pattern in your store. Arne, it is fascinating to watch you loving what you do! ... whatever it may be.
As always, I enjoyed your video and found it both entertaining and educational. I thought you might to know that the book you were gifted on American Needlework is by Rose Wilder Lane who is the daughter of Laura Ingalls Wilder the author of the Little House on the Prairie books. I gave my mother a whole set of "Little House" books several years before she passed away, and she really enjoyed reading all of them without having to worry about rushing them back to the library. My mother's first name was "Marilla", coincidentally the unusual name of a main character in "Anne of Green Gables".
I’m curious as to how many continents and how many countries you have visited? I admire your love of travel even though I am a homebody. I love to stay home and when I travel I look forward to returning home. You probably think I am strange.

If I were rich I’d be on that cruise right now. This is on my bucket list to do. Thank you for this who can’t be there❤❤❤❤
Ditto ! Me too !!
You will love it!!
You are bright sparks in a dull world. ❤ Love from Australia.

You are both wonderful

Good idea to make the Setesdal sweater oversized. It’s insurance for when the garment shrinks on the closet! 🎉❤😅
My cat seems to find your voices soothing...She always sits with me!
Lovely as always to see you both! Thanks so much for sharing your cruise with us all!
Your description of Svalbard and Ny-Ålesund were fascinating, thanks for sharing!

I put my quilt down and I am making slippers for my granddaughter. I do love to knit! I have that American needlework series. It is amazing
I think the word Carlos is looking for is 'drape' to describe how the sweater falls. I always enjoy these shows!
Yes, PLEASE, to the crochet diamonds scarf pattern! 😁
Thank you so much for sharing. It's my dream to be able to go on one of your trips. My first step has been to start learning Norwegian 😅 Tusen takk!

You can get pendant wheel cutter which I take on the plane without any problem ind the blade is hidden between two discs and therefore safe😊
This is so inspiring. Polar bear must be quite facinating to watch from far, not so much close to you ....

The coastline looks so different than what I saw in March. Both so beautiful!
Havent' we have the same problem with the Setesdalhat 2 years ago?? Too small! And than given as a gift for a child in relationship! Oh Carlos!
Your creative works are very admired by me. Thank you
