    How many of ya'll scavengers out there hooked on these videos? I know I am, can't get enough, love to watch these day and night. Mike is a character very entertaining, my wife goes around singing his song and I don't think she realizes she doing that, very addictive. Mike the Scavenger is the new You Tube Drug.

    Those office dividers are often framed with extruded aluminium, worth taking apart if you have the time/space. The backs of the processors are copper, btw. Usually they can be popped off with a knife blade or scraper blade. Your power supply boxes have small transformers in them, easy enough to break open and pop them out.

    • @michaelschrell6221
      @michaelschrell6221 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @mariushmedias
      @mariushmedias 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The linear power supply at @4:10 has a BIG classic transformer full of copper wire... and the black heatsink on the back is also aluminum. If that power supply works you could probably sell it for around 30 on e bay... if it doesn't work, you could still make 10-20 bucks selling at as spare parts ... they're quite easy to repair and they're good equipment to have.

      Unfortunately she is wasting time ,gas and wear and tear on a vehicle by just collecting wire unless you're finding a lot of it. It's not easy covering your expenses when you take almost all metal, I can't imagine just wire. You might have a chance if you are stripping it and saving the copper for the future when maybe it's worth a lot more

    Mike, that core i5 box was the cooling fan for the CPU. the older CPUs like 386, 486, Core Duo, and Pentium CPUs usually have more gold in them than the newer CPUs like the i3, i5, i7, i9. that large gold/orange thing was a high wattage resistor. Mike if you find a person who is an electronic tech those bags with parts in will be worth $$ to you because they are new spare parts

    • @Screamingtut
      @Screamingtut 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also, Mike, I do not know who told you about the old CPUs being worth less but they do not know what they are talking about. in addition the thickness of gold on the pins is more than what they are now. The reason is when these were made (286, 386, 486, etc) gold cost was only about $20-40/ozt vs $1790/ozt now.

    Exhaust gas coolers. It takes a fraction of the exhaust gasses, passes it through a chamber filled with engine coolant to get the exhaust gas temps down before the gasses are reintroduced to the engine intake. They're a sore point of failure for a lot of diesel engines, especially the 7.3 and 6.4 Ford Powerstrokes. The coolant passages get blocked, the unit overheats, the tubes inside expand and break at the ends, and that forms a coolant leak into the exhaust. If you ever see a Powerstroke with white exhaust, the EGC is toast.
    That other dumpster where the fan found you must have been an electronics hobbyist cleaning shop. Some of those books would fit nicely on my bookshelf.
    mosfets
    Those procs are all 15+ years old, so, yeah, just ewaste.
    Those are called protoboards. Breadboards are more plastic and you can just jam the component leads into them and certain rows or columns are all connected. Protoboards requires soldering and almost none of the pads are connected. Breadboards are for developing electronic circuits, protoboards are for building working prototypes.
    Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor. MOSFET. Those are not MOSFETs. Those are just anonymous integrated circuits (ICs). Those heatsinks are mostly for transistors. Some of them are definitely CPU coolers. The things that look like tubular heatsinks with leads coming out the ends are most likely high power resistors. The "do not remove" jar looked like it contained a handful of surface mount devices, perhaps transistors. A lot of those warts in the middle of power cables contain transformers. That's a lot of thin copper. That copper clad photo-etch PCB being from London cheese it that that weird power plug was a British standard plug.

    At the R&D dumpster, every "empty" box you tossed into the dumpster sludge was in reality boxes of new electronic parts, most likely from Digi-Key. Some really great money can be made on eBay by selling the parts just like the parts selling there right now, check out the part numbers @ eBay or Amazon and look into the sold items.
    Mike, I find you getting overwhelmed at times that you really need to slow down and get it all, as any one of those "empty" boxes could contain hundreds of dollars in computer chips. A find like that could mean the difference between a few bucks and a pocket overload of real money.
    Best of luck to you and DUDE..... SLOW DOWN IN THERE,

      Hey Chris, you would be very surprised how many high school and college aged kids in engineering classes build projects for grades, and not to mention all the so-called "inventors" the world over. Offer your parts at the lowest price as new, and you will sell out of everything very quickly. I know because I've been a seller since '97, and I've sold just about everything that could be sold through that site, including a $419K 4 color printing press that I bought from work for $10.

      @@Ghoulstille The thing is, you have a lot of items to sell so that little bits turns into a big bit every single day, and soon are clearing thousands a week. The majority of what I sold was from dumpster diving, just like mike here.... Test things out and if they work or are brand new in the package then put them in an eBay or Amazon pile and the rest is then taken to salvage or sold to guys like the ones Mike knows that buy electronic scrap. The money is there but like everything else, you will have to work for it.

    Stay safe out there Mike. Wishing you and your family a prosperous week. Peace brother
