HA HA HA... THAT'S the first time I had ever saw that one... The two versions I grew up with in the 60's and 70's was by "Little Eva" in the 60's(they would play it on KAFY AM Radio lol), and then the BIGGIE version that really hit the charts was from "Grand Funk Railroad" in the early 70's if I remember right.... It played for SEVERAL weeks and even made it to American Bandstand and Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" which practically everyone in America listened to back in the day.... and Yes... it is a dance. lolera
Now that you mention it. Every time i hear this song i was expecting them to do an actual dance like swinging their hips in an exotic way. Kinda like Shakira. There was no loco motion to this song😂. Which is a shame.
Maybe Locomotion derives from "locomotive" hence the move that looks like turning wheels. Anyway, at this time people just enjoyed singing and dancing w/o wanting to lecture the audience.
Oh no. You went with the Stock Aitken Waterman version instead of the original Australian released version 😢 Locomotion was written by Carol King and Gerry Goffin and recorded in the 1960s by Little Eva. There were never any set steps.
What should we react to next from Kylie Minogue!

Locomotion was a steam train made in my hometown of Darlington UK. It pulled the passenger train in the world in 1825
4:36 the instructions to the dance is in the song. You have to listen to the words.
This song was the biggest selling song of the 1980’s in Australia
