- Buffalo Southern's BC-1 heads south from Buffalo, NY along the Buffalo & Southwestern Branch, an 89-mile line that once ran from Buffalo to Jamestown and was owned by the Erie Railroad, to the small village of Eden to set out covered hoppers at LPC and Laing-Gro Fertilizers while using their ex-CP MLW C424!

Great catch! Catching switch work at feed mills, elevators, etc., is totally cool! THANKS!
Thanks!
Seems like 4212 is so well suited for its work in the vibrant agricultural industry in the Erie County area. Great footage of the day to day work on this short line.
Even though I swore I would never set foot in NY again, with 4212 running regularly and if 2010 is back in service (had seen rumors it was being worked on) I would have to make a run up there. Got to love the old B&SW
todays vid very nice. I like the old signals. Lots of history on those rails.
Dude, you just keep on cranking the good stuff!
Thanks a lot!
Really nice video! I enjoy a lot of these smaller railroads with old equipment.
Thanks, I do too!
My kind of locomotive, multicolor used locomotive..👍
Great video Matt. Nice to see one of those Alco/MLW Centuries still around workin the rails.
Thank you! Fortunately there are a handful of Century Alcos still operating around Western New York, but with the LA&L's plans to overhaul their and WNYP's fleets, that number will soon drop.
@@mattygunn693 If Sartigan can buying of him....would be cool
There is that old and ratty looking block signal, the one with the letter A on it, right at the beginning of this video, at the Big Tree Road grade crossing! I did check out Google's Earth feature and spotted a diamond about 1 mile north of this location. Am wondering if this signal (or what is left of it) had something to do with governing train movements approaching that diamond (to the north).
It was once the fixed approach signal for the diamond, back when the Erie B&SW Branch crossed over the NKP main, now the Norfolk Southern Lake Erie District.
Great-- another MLW that is running. Possibly getting ready to be painted--??
Yep, some time in the future it'll be getting a corporate paint job. I'm not sure when though.
@@mattygunn693 OK, THANKS!!
@@user-mr3ct1dm9p You're welcome!
Nice vid, Matty. I assume 4212 is ex-CP Rail, yes?
Thank you! As stated in the title, yes, this is an ex-CP MLW C424.
This is the only C424 still alive and running in the North America?
Nope, not even close!
@@mattygunn693 How many much running? and where?
What Type Of Horn Is That?
No idea, I'm bad with horn types.
Nice multi-tone, but that bell is solid!
Standard Canadian 3 chime. A K3L I think.
