I always loved trains and railroading in general. My grandfather on my mother's side would take me to the station when i was about 4 or 5 there to see trains.
That's great! Ask any Railfan how they got started and most will start out, "When I was a kid, my (fill with someone's name) took me to..." And let's not forget the first "Horn Salute" we all received from waving at the Crew, that might be the biggest bond of all!
@Peter-mt6lg: My grandfather was an engineer on the B & M, and against all regulations he took me on several rides including one overnighter on the pulp train up to Littleton NH… I still have his kerosene lantern clearly marked “property of Boston & Maine RR”.
The Northern Sky Car people looked as if they were having so much fun--travel on guys! 👋The bridge at Burlington is always beautiful, and so is the Virginian. It's been a while since an ad slogan (or two) made me laugh out loud, but Greenridge Farm managed it. Another great one--thanks so much!
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in multiple locations, especially the trailers from trucks, that says, "Please don't drool and drive", the Heritage Units, and so much more, I like them, @Virtual Railfan, thank you very much.
5:38 The rail-gang member riding on top of the rail-train made think what it must have been like back when the tops of long trains were dotted with brake-men, tuning the hand-brakes upon signals from the locomotive. Quite a view!

@@donnaj9964 Looks like it was a long piece of wood, like maybe a 2x4 or something that was part of the wooden crate that held the steel wheels in place so they wouldn't shift and it ended up breaking?
That Cask car wasn't loaded with spent fuel rods those get carried in a different carrier looks like a barbell. That one had a full core for a new either submarine or Ford CVN onboard and since the new Big E is getting her reactors soon I would bet that was one of them.
Or maybe not. I see a lot of news stories about drivers without valid licenses. When the authorities take away the license, they should take away the car, too.
When you see a car with something hanging out of it like the box car with the shifted wheels, does someone report it or try stopping the train. Thanks for your vlogs from John in the United Kingdom.
I enjoyed seeing the Northern Sky Charter, Dome-car at Elkhart. It must be great having Coaches like that, our lousy UK Loading Gauge is so small and Victorian-minded - there's no chance of anything like it. The name 'Northern Sky' reminded me of the American Folk-singer John McCormick, whom I met a couple times on his UK Tours and he performs the song, 'Northern Sky', which I like very much.
Hi Peter, Exactly what I mean. Private Cars attached to a Service Train is another example of something that would never be allowed or tolerated by the Rail Operators, Network Rail or Trade Unions - here in the UK. That is one of the reasons why USA Railroads are so good.@@Peter-mt6lg
OK so the car at La Grange turned just as the gates lit up and barely started down, should they have stopped then and backed up? What would you have done driving? What if the parking stalls were full?
The detectors I have seen only have detection plates along the tie length. The object hanging out in Wichita would probably not be detected - looked like it was dragging out beyond the tie.
@@yyzedd Thank you for your response! My speculation was that it would not; but for the safety of the train, it would seem an important feature for a detector.
I was hoping to see a VR Grab Bag with just trains, tracks and train fans without seeing any Darwin Candidates in it but they just creep or run out of nowhere nearly getting hit but I really enjoyed it as always Thank You. 🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲

I love the grab bags.
Is the Belen camera working? My brother lives watching train yards- Belen is his favorite. TIA
That dragging piece of debris from the SP boxcar can be deadly.
What was it anyway--anyone know?

something defiantly shifted in that boxcar

Thank you! I was wondering like anything what that was!
2:03, a wild caboose appears. lol.
Never a boring day at La Grange 😂
I knew it! At 01:54 the gov't has found a UFO
That 4 x 4 timber wigglin' around like a toothpick in a pool shark's mouth.
Did that person really think the train was going to "back up" and move or go around?
They were probably waiting for the train to swerve.
Probably sitting there swearing and yelling "MOVE!"🙄
That SD90MAC catch was insane
I thought UP had sold all of theirs off. I guess not
Excellent grab bag video !
OG 90MAC to start the video off is absolutely awesome!
Wow, that SOO Line hopper at 2:20 looks free of graffiti...how does that happen, what's that car's story? They all have stories...
0:55 Commented on the Greenridge food van. Really good advertising.
ARE YOU KIDDING?? The loco must have stopped within INCHES of that car! The engineer was too good/nice.
And to think they have a driver's license.
No guarantees on the license these days!!!
Or maybe not. I see a lot of news stories about drivers without valid licenses. When the authorities take away the license, they should take away the car, too.
*Nice Video Nice Catches*
That Box Car is blind.... didn't you see it tapping a stick to make sure it wasn't straying from the rest of the train?
The Hillshire Farm's Brown sugar sliced Ham tastes really yummy.
Great job grab Bag lots good stuff
How do humans build such advanced machinery

1:45 that train will most likely end up in Idaho.
love the food trucks
1:11 YOU CANT MAKE ME!!!
Kentucky Fried Chicken 😂🎉
What is the frequency, Kenneth? Too much strangeness in La Grange. Is it in the water or the air?
LOL, Poor Dan Rather, He didn't have a clue.
When video recording any freight, expect the very unexpected, stay back and stay safe.

So Amtrak still allows private cars on the rear?

Part of cribbing for the wheelsets!
Bro what in the, a 90mac???
Seems like 2015 again

10.45 some people just aren't capable of having a drivers licence
5:19 Today's silly question: How come the rails on the train don't stick out "longer" while they're going around the inside of the curve? 🙂
Well if isn’t emd’s most powerful single prime mover locomotive
I shall stop saying how dumb can people get? Some are taking as a challenge.....
13:29 There I am!
Trains start your engines
Dont worry, relax, I won't 👅 the truck! 😅
Hi Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Virtual Railfan & Friends Randy
Road rage with a locomotive. Who will lose?
Up 90 mac incredible
0:33 waver at Tucson AMTRAK station.
3:25 The OG Conrail heritage unit.
(sigh) The deranged of La Grange strike again.
Can anyone comment on whether the “debris” dragging from the SP boxcar in Wichita would have been detected by a dragging-equipment indicator? 🤔
The detectors I have seen only have detection plates along the tie length. The object hanging out in Wichita would probably not be detected - looked like it was dragging out beyond the tie.
