Yeah!!!!! Seeing this made my whole weekend!! And not just cuz it's friday!!! :-) Joe Jackson is sadly under-appreciated! At least here in the states. What about in Britain? Anyone?
Hi ! Joe Jackson is a very sensitive musician, and his music is always "cool to listen" cause always melodious ! that's what I think, it engages just myself, but each time , when I don't listen to him for some months, when I come back to jim, it's always a pleasure for me. Really a cool video. BYE !
Back in the 80s Ken Shelton of WBCN Boston would play this at the end of The Mighty Lunch Hour on Friday,... It would change my whole freakin attitude and get me pumped for the weekend, thanks Ken, and Thanks Joe!
People seem to overlook the guitar player because it's not out front, but I LUV his style. It's like pop/fusion, punk/disco...or something like that. Steely Dan on ephedrine.
Dam ! This stuff realy kicks ! Joe's an awesome songwriter, performer ,and his band smokes! I am a drummer who is influenced by it all , I try to absorb it all in like a sponge! So much to learn from so many great players! DAVE HOUGHTON is one such drummer in my book ! Simply fantastic !
I love this musician, he was amazing in live! Great jazzmann, he writes for so many other artists :D I saw him twice and he sent me his scarf from the stage lol! Thanks for the video.
Testament to the saying "To be great is to be misunderstood.", as is the case with some great artists. In some aspects of their life, they are somewhere else, yet find their way into many hearts through their art.
Perfect, yes, i gree. Just when I gain an appreciation of a musical artist's work, I find out they have just passed on. I'm very glad I got to see blues man Junior Wells at the House Of Blues Hollywood. A great album is Better Off With The Blues. Some songs may you dance, others make you cry. JJ and EC both are excellent.
awesome fantastic! thanks for postin jj rocked and will always rock im an old fart at 49 and this stuff gets me goin like epineferin whooooo hoooa! thanks again stuka man
one of my favorite joe jackson songs. Look sharp! is definently one of the best debut albums ever. Top 30 at least. Joe Jackson needs to be respected and needs his recognition. I bet a bunch of people know the songs "is she really going out with him" or "one more time" and don't know that its by joe jackson. I bet if he gave the band a name they probably would be more popular and sucessful.
@MikePhilippens That's just awesome Mike ! See that's what I like about concerts that we don't see on the music production company released music videos, the spontaneity of individual band members. And to have an excellent performance by just the core intimate group, each performance different than the next one. Thanks for the review Mike ! You had a great time there.
I'm a great Joe Jackson fan, and those are exactly the albums I love so much. But please check Costello's This Year's Model. It's fantastic. Ian Dury is another favorite by the way, if you want to 'compare' Joe Jackson.
Costello is a talent for sure, but not in the same league as Joe. Both are cool, but the musical genius and diversity of Joe is very rare in this world. I have been a JJ fan for 25 years and believe that he may have given us his best already.....but I love him all the same. He is a treasure.......
Dave Houghton is SUCH a great drummer - and combined with the genius that is Graham Maby, they are one of THE rhythm sections EVER. Do you have the rest of the gig?
For me, I didn't get to see SRV, Frank Zappa, and Jerry Garcia. I was at Griffith Park in Los Angeles the evening that Jerry died, and there must have been 5000 fans there for a primal scream memorial. I will check out Rory Gallagher's music on the internet. Thanks, bro
I saw Jerry & Frank. Jon Kahn from the Jerry Garcia Band was an excellent bassist. Les Claypool is another. Phil lesh still sounds awesome in concert, as long as he doesn’t sing.
I've heard that, too, but I met Joe after a show in SF in 2000. I had a beer with him at this club and we had a very nice chat. I think with some of these stars you have to approach them more as they are a regular Joe, rather than a hero. My two cents anyway...
joe jackson is the best songwriter britain has ever produced but so under rated! it annoys me that when i go to his london concerts there are only about 2000 people there. get a useless no talented prick like justin bieber and he gets tens of thousands turn up to watch him.the world has gone mad when joes' music like "FRIDAY" still sounds as fresh as when the day it was 1st performed. all his songs never seem to date or age but for some reason he never got the glory he deserves. rock on joe
@DancingSpiderman A draw. Neither is better or worse outside someone's personal taste. BOTH are brilliant and the last of the great singer songwriters in the contemporary Rock/Pop genre. Back when there was still one worth listening to. 30 years is a long ways back, but at least they're still with us putting out solid music for the faithful. I'm still here too with both ears open.
Great! - yes Joe doesn't get the credit for what he's done musically that he should. I've even seen Anthrax cover one of his songs. This is what TH-cam is about...finding live footage of awesome music like this.
.. Absolutely weird to see the crowd not part of the show...it goes hand and hand .. At punk shows the band and audience are one entity ..to see em standing there bugs me out
Joe Jackson wins because he is still skinny, while Elvis is a fat, rolly polly little thing. Plus I seem to remember Joe being taller than I imagined when I saw him in person. Also, as great as Elvis Costello is, none of his albums can top Look Sharp!
@rekkof Yeah, Elvis is still making great music, and he's married to Diana Krall , who is a honie. But I still enjoy both Elvis and Joe, and I can't really choose one over the other. So I enjoy the YourTube community to tell me who would win the Celebrity DeathMatch. Thanks, rekkof for your vote. Have yourself a great Friday evening.
What a shame that great Anglo-Saxon word "shit" was deleted. Ah well, just another tiny reminder that we still live in the Stone Age. ("This ain't the Stone Age, we don't have rocks in OUR heads!" -- Joe Jackson, "TV Age")
He's not the prettiest, not the best singer, not even close. But if you want real good music, Look Sharp at Joe Jackson. Check out his list of songs, and you will know from where I speak.
@evelynmh I think a lot of his negativity is towards the music biz - his autobiography "A cure for gravity" is a great read and sheds light on his complex personality. I was interested to learn that, like me he loves Shostakovich but hates the snobbery found in classical music circles. He is the high point of New Wave IMHO.
My fave Joe Jackson song. Graham Maby one of my inspirational bass players. 😎🎸
Graham Maby is the greatest bass player ever to walk the earth. I will fight about this.
Joe Jackson is one of the best
My man Joe Jackson. Brilliant. What a bass line. Backbeat. Drums are stellar.
Wow,27 years later and this song is still AMAZING!
wow, another 14 years later and this song is still AMAZING!
Well, we still have Fridays.
Yeah!!!!! Seeing this made my whole weekend!! And not just cuz it's friday!!! :-) Joe Jackson is sadly under-appreciated! At least here in the states. What about in Britain? Anyone?
Joe, Elvis C, and Graham Parker ruled.
Hi ! Joe Jackson is absolutely delightful.
Graham Maby on bass = AWESOME
So freaking good, where are bands like this today?
He is SO underrated. One of the best artists ever!
Joe and his band are "the man!"🎉❤
Best Joe Jackson Song Ever. Bass, Drums, and Guitar are cookin on Friday.
Mr Houghton on drums ladies and gentlemen !!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎😎😎
Dangerous Dave never fails to blow me away.
This is such a great song. One of my all time favorite songs. It always picks me up. It so well put together like a lot of Joe Jackson songs.
How COOL was Joe back in the day his music can stand up strong to any shit that is being put out today
People seem to overlook the guitar player because it's not out front, but I LUV his style. It's like pop/fusion, punk/disco...or something like that. Steely Dan on ephedrine.
That's how I remember Joe Jackson. Great!
What a bass line!
One of the most underrated artists of this or the last generation. He's still good.
Fantastic punk tune that appeals to all genres. Joe Jackson is a genius
Dam ! This stuff realy kicks ! Joe's an awesome songwriter, performer ,and his band smokes! I am a drummer who is influenced by it all , I try to absorb it all in like a sponge! So much to learn from so many great players! DAVE HOUGHTON is one such drummer in my book ! Simply fantastic !
that's true....they are both great in their own right...some of the best music of the age came from these guys
How can you not get up and move to this song?
I love this musician, he was amazing in live! Great jazzmann, he writes for so many other artists :D I saw him twice and he sent me his scarf from the stage lol! Thanks for the video.
damn. another fantastic jj song that i had totally forgot about. the man is great.
Testament to the saying "To be great is to be misunderstood.", as is the case with some great artists. In some aspects of their life, they are somewhere else, yet find their way into many hearts through their art.
Great Joe Jackson ;-) excellent music ;-)
best day of the week

Great song 🎵
A flawless and fun live performance!
Joe and band are incendiary burn a hole in the planet hot here.
Hands down the best song on I'm the Man, probably the best of his career. Awesome video, thanks.
Also some great guitar work
Awesome band!!!
I’m The Man is easily my favorite Joe Jackson album.
Fantastic!!

@RubHerSoul1 Beautiful . Agreed. I LVOE BOTH musicians. May they keep putting out beautiful music.
My favourite favourite on I,m the man,by far!Thanx for posting!Graham Mabe is so.....well...ehm......swinging.....by lack of a cooler term here.
One of my favorite basslines and bass players!!! Graham you RULE!!!!! Tuesday!?!? #$@%&%*#@%$ Thanks Joe.
this song is high energy.
the band wore blue shirts and the music played on ... great song from little big nervous man
love the bass lick .boom boom boom
I'm a great Joe Jackson fan, and those are exactly the albums I love so much. But please check Costello's This Year's Model. It's fantastic.

LOVE IT! The angst in him is about to ERUPT!
Seen at Great Adventure In Nj 1979 at front of stage 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏
Who needs pretty boy singers? Talent is what counts, well, in the view of real music fans.
You know nothing.
"pass the bottle, wash the pills down..what went wrong?" what a great lyric.
what a band!
Love the bass line
Yeah, I was theretoo in NJ -6 Flags-great show
Whoa. What this man cant do😊😊
Amazing bass !
Dave Houghton is SUCH a great drummer - and combined with the genius that is Graham Maby, they are one of THE rhythm sections EVER.
Do you have the rest of the gig?
Damn, they are tight!
REAL MUSIC (:

giving mon thru thur a thorough ass kicking...

@KaitainCPS Great assessment... I concur.
Both move good on stage, too.
My sister saw him on his "Beat Crazy Tour" at Six-Flags in New Jersey of all places!
@DancingSpiderman A draw. Neither is better or worse outside someone's personal taste. BOTH are brilliant and the last of the great singer songwriters in the contemporary Rock/Pop genre. If your right foot ain't moving to this tune - you're either dead or in a coma.
I can't but help thinking my dearly loved Smiths were influenced just a little by Joe Jackson & co.
what an incredibly awesome fucking band!
Always wondered what Ben Folds Five would have sounded like with a guitarist......Just had to look back in time!
En dat allemaal door de week!
@KaitainCPS Wow, good call ! Thanx.
I wish they would show the guitar player close up playing the beginning. To this day, I can't figure out how to play that right.
The Best Bassist of the New Wave era.
night of the living dead in the crowd. how the hell do you just stand there???
The audience is comatose even though Joe is totally rockin' it. What's wrong with them?!
it's not Friday
.. Absolutely weird to see the crowd not part of the show...it goes hand and hand .. At punk shows the band and audience are one entity ..to see em standing there bugs me out
It's my left foot that's bopping to the beat
@twisteddsister I need one of those Friday nights now........
🎶🌟👍🏾🌟🎶
@SuperNolaguy He's back with JJ on the new album Rain. Everyone from this lineup has returned except for the guitarist for some reason.
You’d be hard pressed to find a better three-piece backup band. Joe Jackson is a wizard.
The Attractions were as good.
@bigkittysmile first of all what i wrote was SARCASTIC !!!!!
and btw at 1980 Rebecca Black's parents weren't even 20 !
she was born in 1997 !
Joe Jackson wins because he is still skinny, while Elvis is a fat, rolly polly little thing. Plus I seem to remember Joe being taller than I imagined when I saw him in person. Also, as great as Elvis Costello is, none of his albums can top Look Sharp!

Ross, thats nuts cause when I hear a drummer knock some thing out,and I cant do it to the note it kills me.keep trying....Always keep rocking!!!
@MikePhilippens I'll enjoy the concert through you ! Can we get a short report from you? Enjoy!
Graham is awesome but Dave on drums & Gary on guitar plus Joe! Band like that doesn't come along to often.
ENORME JOE JACKSON. PIOVRA
2:44 always makes me laugh.
What a shame that great Anglo-Saxon word "shit" was deleted. Ah well, just another tiny reminder that we still live in the Stone Age.

The Maestro! Rare bright spot (along with Squeeze) in otherwise bad 80's music. A fan since 1977!
Joe Jackson Sunday Papers
@evelynmh I think a lot of his negativity is towards the music biz - his autobiography "A cure for gravity" is a great read and sheds light on his complex personality. Id like to mosh to this ! where is the fuckin PIT damn it!? haha
Joe Jackson and the who? What a show that must have been
