Oh the Treasures We Find! - Metal Detecting a 1600's Farm Field For Old Coins & Relics!

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 4 มี.ค. 2024
- We have been metal detecting thie old 1600's farm field for the past month or so and digging up some of the earliest coins and coolest pieces we may have ever found! Now we just got access to the adjacent property so the field that keeps on giving just doubled in size! The orignal settlers built early houses and trading posts right up again a creek tributary that runs right through the woods line behind us so this field was riddled with early activity all throughout the area. Once we fire up the detectors and move into the right spots there's just no telling what's going to be found!

So great that you rescue these various vintage artifacts from the past. If it weren’t for you guys, these special treasures would be doomed to spend eternity in the ground, away from people who appreciate these wonderful relics from our past!
The USS stands for United States Steel. If you go to their Wikipedia page you will see the same logo.
Yep, my grandfather worked there until his passing.
He's correct from Pittsburgh most in family worked there.
Having grown up in Baltimore where one of their plants were, I can personally attest to that being United States steel.
Is this the final conclusion? What's the years?
Can't believe they didn't know that, but to be fair they are from the opposite side of the state in the Philly area.
Thistle buttons. The thistle has been an important symbol of Scottish heraldry for over 500 years.
Exactly!
Chenango, which means "Bull thistle" in the Oneida language, may refer to: Chenango County, New York, a county in the United States of America
Yes a thistle.
Love the sticker pin. Great buttons and coins. That farm is amazing
Heey guys... great finds ..relics... coins... And what is more important is u are all so happy and enjoying digging! People like u inspired us to start recording, and making our own videos.. to show people how fun this hobby can be! Happy hunting!!! Big hello from new friends and followers from southern Europe!
IN THE BUTTONOFF ,CHARLIES LOOKS LIKE AN ANCHOR!!!
Always learning something new with watching y'all work magic! Thanks for the uploads!
Great Job Rich!
Lynn is the best! 😅
What a great group of people and great finds. Battle of the "whats in the clumps". Love it. Dougs draped bust takes the day.
Jason ur the best!!!
Wow
You've got the best crew. Its always entertaining and fun to watch.
Charlie's button is a Scottish thistle design! Probably came all the way from Edinburgh.
Great Find!
Nice find Doug! If I EVER find a braided hair anything, I'm going to do a cartwheel. I will have to go to the hospital after that, but it will totally be worth it!
US Steel logo
Fantastic finds! Thanks for a great Super Tuesday show!
What a Field of Dreams! ♥
Great to see you’re doing well, and videos are awesome as usual
Man i sure do envy you. Love you guys. So happy for all of you.✌❤❤
It's kind of hard to imagine a site like yours, that just keeps on pumping out old coins, buttons and relics- amazing! Already fired up for next week!
Great field of finds. Best wishes from wet, windy, darkest, Lancashire, England. Happy hunting.
Great Hunt guys. Looking forward to next week's video for the Bucket Listers. Rich the Gold Hair Pin Beautiful. Jason the one Ornate Button with the Lettering on the back that one is my favorite. Congrats to everyone on all the Coppers and Buttons. Take Care everyone
I love that Charley's pajamas are sticking out under his pants... Fashion statement! 🤣 Pretty sure the gilded pin-top Rich found says GWG... They were awarded to George Washingtons bodyguards, lovingly known as "George Washington's Guerilla". (True story) Great video, as always!
Ever heard of fleeced lined pants....
@@mikeycod7377 Nope
Boy, Lynn's a Ball Button buster😂😂😂 But I agree that Charlie's button wins 😁
Amazing site! Looking forward to seeing the guys at Come Out Swingin.
Holy smokes, what a great bunch of finds!! Look forward to seeing you guys in my home state in April!!!
Lynn on the pin for the win.
We've seen Doug with the water bottle. Your fingers weren't going to get wet and cold.
The initials are GWG or maybe JWJ. The middle initial is the last name, then the initial on the left is the first name and the initial on the right is the middle name 😊
The history those old buttons could tell.
Another great day
I love your video's but i'm curious how you clean your finds and how good they clean up . Maybe you can make a short ,or long , video of a clean up. I'd looooove to watch that .
Greetings, Bob.
Hello, I wanted to let you know that the button you found that says Hammond Turner Dickenson is a Royal Naval button. Great find brother!!
I agree with several earlier folks, the twin buttons look like a thistle, national symbol of Scotland, could be either military or civilian.
Great hunt can’t wait till next week God Bless….Virgil
Rich's piece looks like a two part cufflink, made like a two part button. Script 'GWG'. I have a similar pair that were wife number 1's grandparents. The missing back part has a loop. I passed them on to my son.
Jason it is easy to remember convex vs concave… Con-cave is like a cave. A very shallow cave, but a cave. The curve goes in.
US Steel is correct I worked for them great find Doug .Thanks for the great video congrats on all the great finds
"Schmoozin' Charlie"!!! Nice digs again! Lots of buttons, and not just flats, but with some cool designs! Great video once again.
CHarlie’s button looks like a Thistle. A Scottish Thistle.
Great Finds for all of you!!! I love the buttons!!! Congratulations Doug on the oldest coin!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Thank you Lori
United States Slimeball Symphony.... probably not as good as Tchaikovsky, but I bet they rock 😅
Riches first find could also be a bachelors button. Victorian era. I’ve found silver ones with same case outside cover is silver and inside brass plated
You guys put out some awesome content. I can't wait for the ground to thaw out have an old wagon trial I'm gonna work this year
Again, a great video.
Your finds are amazing. I got excited for finding a late 1800’s shotgun shell… lol. Thanks for sharing!
You guys are the best
That is one cool button
Quarter horder never disappoint 😊, great show
Awesome hunt in the field that just keeps on giving!!
I came up with Huckleberry Lynn. I personally think it compliments Rich van winkle. If anyone has better suggestions, please post em. She has been around long enough. Jason should have at least 3 nicknames for Her by now. Lol
I love Huckleberry Lynne! Great suggestion!!
hi from scotland, i think charlies button is a thistle, about 5 videos ago you identified a coin as a george 2nd half penny, i think you miss identified and it was actually a scottish coin (bawbee) of charles 2nd which also has a thistle on the reverse dating to 1670 approx. nice finds. cheers alan.
Thank you Alan. We appreciate the insight you’ve provided. There have been a number of finds from these fields we’ve never seen before. Please keep watching and offering suggestions when we need it.
That first gold piece Rich found looks like it has the initials GHG on it - those are my late father in law’s initials and he grew up in Pittsburgh - and lived there his whole life. He just passed away in 2022 at the age of 98. Don’t know where you are though!
Rich Van Goldfinger 😅
I believe charlie's button has an anchor on it. Instead of the pie crust being around the outside, I believe that is rope. When it was runover, the shank made that little nipple on the outside and that kind of hid the anchor.
Amazing finds! Yall got over 200 buttons??! Wow! And it's funny, it's cold and snowing there, and it's 70 here in SC. Wish my detector worked.
Awesome finds
Charlie’s button looks like a Navy button. There appears to be an anchor on it. The angle I saw it just before that clip ended when you showed it under a flashlight.
GWG on the stick pin
Hello everyone great finds can't wait for the next video, lots of love from West Virginia❤ 🙂
USS United Steel Supply! OLD OLD OLD pim! Boom!
Way cool video. I really enjoyed this one well I actually like all of them. Jason I've been watching some of the early videos from 8 yrs ago and some with you and Doug & Kyle ( the nickel nibbler).
Lynn is the 'Guru'.
" stick pin Lynne" flexing on the identification..
The design on that button MIGHT be a Scottish thistle😚
I think USS is United States Steel Corp.
Great hunt guy’s thanks for sharing.. keep digging 😊
It looks so cold my shank would be pushed in too
Jason your big button is a Drachm- Ptolem and your little one looks like a naval button
It’s like the field of dreams
Great find’s especially the twin buttons. I’m not sure when you all filmed that ,but I’m watching in 90* weather outside. Could use a little of that cool breeze.
Hi Jason, Dog Tag Doug, Rich, Charlie & Lynne. And a big hello to Matt, don’t be such a stranger.
Also Jason, if you love pi you can’t cancel on the 14th. 😂
Great finds, guys!! See you at DTH?? Looking forward to it!!
Way to go, Lynne, a stick pin it is.
I do love a good button day!!!
I have enjoyed you guys finds for a while . I would love to see what your finds look like after you take them home and clean them .😊
Definitely agree! United States steel .
There is still one of their facilities here near Pittsburgh
All those buttons in one location. It was either a Tailor, or a bunch of people got into some really viscous fights in the area.
That field is ridiculous! It would be hard for me to go anywhere else.
Hi Quarter hoarder I believe those buttons at 26.40 have thistles on them national flower of Scotland
Will you do a follow up, short video, to explain how you clean these coppers and maybe some post cleaned examples. Thanks man love the videos.
Fantastic finds, and I can't wait to see you again at the detecting the heartland hunt in May. It will be the third time meeting you guys. Stay safe and keep the coil to the soil.
Hello again, I forgot to mention that the image on the front of that Royal Naval Button is a Crown over an Anchor. Love watching your videos!! Looking forward your next one.
Awesome guys and Lynne me and Turd Ferguson are going to watch this later
Can't wait, weekly QH date lol 💞
Aw me too gorgeous ❤@@TurdFerguson1978
Hi Clem!
@@TurdFerguson1978 always enjoy our date night ❤️
@@lynneoppenheimer9695 Hi Lynne another awesome video me and my girlfriend turd Ferguson just watched it.
Gold money clip,or tie pin.
@dogtagdoug looking online it’s the front of a two piece United States Steel Button
Awesome finds my friends keep up the amazing work six stars
US Steel?
Came her to say this, that is definitely their logo.
Great show! Love your hat!!! ;)
Thistle !!!!!!!
I believe Charlie's button has an anchor on it.. Dangit... clearly I commented before you found yours!
Awesome. Thanks.
Hello Jason. There was a company called Turner & Dickingson that made buttons for the Royal Navy throughout the 1800. Think they were based in London.
Great finds
I see Doug found a USS Enterprise button. Kirk is impressed. Lost it during a time travel episode.
Not surprised at all. Doug has been known to detect where no man has detected before.
Charley’s button looks like the back of a Scottish copper. A thistle?
8:04 that button has the US Steel logo???
Scottish thistle 23:05
Hit it before the crops go in guys. Wouldn't it be nice if the farmer ploughed that field, and lowered the depth regulator to ten inches for you! Thistle and/or single rampant lion= Scottish.
Logo for U.S.Steel.
