    I'm going to apologise now for the long comment. Nearly everything you've said I can say snap too! I'm 8 weeks out from mine, exactly today. The only difference with mine is food plan wise, I was allowed to eat solid foods as of my forth week and I have to eat 5 small meals a day, which is impossible. But I think that's what my surgeon prefers, but the amount of solid food I could eat was nothing. I have yet to eat any pasta as I'm not sure how my stomach will like it and only had bread for the first time last week, which could only eat half a slice of, potato, chicken, veg and soup seem to be my best friends as of late. With drinking I really can relate, especially when I'm out, I take water with me wherever I go. I stop drinking thinking we're gonna eat in about half an hour. Over an hour later we've still not eaten and what's worse none of the places to eat that we frequent in my city centre do soup so it really is a pain in the arse to eat out. For drinks mainly drink water, vimto which was my fav, but now obsessed with Capri Sun lol. The only day as of yet I have regretted having my op was the day I went back to work 2 weeks after and I was made redundant, so some serious emotions running that day. It seriously made me regret it and everything I wanted to do I couldn't which my Mam says is a blessing in disguise really. Weight wise I've lost 2st 2lbs so far. On the day of surgery I weighed 19st 1lb. I lost about a stone and a half from the day of booking my surgery to the day I went which was just over 2 months. I'm really bad at not taking my vitamins, but that's because they made me feel sick, but I think I'll try them again. Also I had a really bad acid reflux before my surgery and unfortunately it's not cured it, it's made it worse so I have to take Lansoprazole every day to prevent it. I also had no pain after surgery, the only one that hurt was my big one and it was sweet relief when the stitches were taken out. I started exercising yesterday, so looking forward to getting into that and my only guilty pleasure is quavers. I also want to thank you Amy as you've really helped me get through this and I have to say you look incredible. I feel a little weird saying I'm proud of you as I've never met you, but I really am. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, looking forward to seeing your Q&A soon and would love to see a what I eat in a week kinda video. Ps the first cottage pie I ate was to die for too lol. ❤️

      Firstly, never apologise for a long comment - I love reading them! I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply! It is really good that you are taking it slowly, it's the best way! It is so interesting that so many different surgeons have different plans and advice for eating but I think that it's a good thing. For me, it makes me feel there is a little more lenience if that makes sense! Wetherspoons I find is a great place to eat out! They do soup and also the childrens menu has a fab range! I'm so sorry about your job! How are you getting on now? The vitamins make me feel really sick if I take them on an empty stomach so ALWAYS take them with food! How's the exercise going? Every little helps! Just take it day to day, now that I am almost 6 months out of surgery, sometimes I forget I even had it! May sound weird but I have gotten used to what I need to eat, how much etc. Don't feel weird about anything, I feel like I know half of you on here! It is amazing to hear your journey too - keep persevering I promise you it will be worth it 💛💛

      Amy Farquhar thank you for replaying Amy, my exercise is going slowly as I wasn't feeling great last week. But full steam ahead on Monday, I've been swimming which I love plus perfect way to cool down after the gym. I'm almost at 3 stone now which I can't believe 😳. Job Wise I now have 2 which one is sitting down all day and the other is standing up and moving about so I think they balance each other out lol. I always took my vitamins on an empty stomach it was just a habit take all my pills in a morning straight away so I don't forget. Will try them after food now and how that works. My whetherspoons doesn't offer soup which is strange I'll definitely ask the next time I go there as it wasn't on the menu. I'm the same when I lift something heavy at work and they're be careful and I say it's fine I'm okay to now, but they still worry. Also feel like we've really gotten to know you as you've been so open with your journey and life in general too. You really do look amazing and you can really see a difference you seem so much more confident and happy it's great to see. Hope you have an amazing Saturday! oh and did you get your blog back? 💜💜

      1Pen it's more like 8k-10.5k here in the UK hun. The best thing to do is message as many clinics as you can and get the best deal for yourself. Mine was just over 4K but I went aboard for mine, which I know isn't right for everyone. Hope this helps.

It's just a tiny treat. your still human. You go to the gym and should feel proud of yourself. You feel so much happier in yourself and at the end of the day thats all that matters. lots of love. xx❤️💜💛

    Yes yes definitely tone up as you're slimming down! I lost 4 and a half stone naturally but mostly focused on cardio as I was so desperate to slim down, and now am left with some loose skin on my lower stomach and I'm only 19. Although I'm 100x happier at my weight now, I am SO self conscious of my stomach now so definitely keep up the toning at the gym! X

    Hey Amy, thank you so much for your honest and frank update. I have been eagerly waiting for your update as I am a similar size to what you were. I am on the list with the NHS for this due to medical issues. I just want to say you did not look your weight at the start, and you look lighter than you are now. Just goes to show its just a number as you look fab and very slim. I cannot wait to have mine and as I can relate to you, you have squashed any doubts I have. Can I ask how tall you are please?. Keep going Amy your vlogs are great. Thank you

    Hey Amy, the hair loss thing!!! I'm having the same thing happen to me! I've just had my 4th sml bowel resection & my hair has been coming out in clumps, handfuls of the stuff! I share your anxiety over it, my hair has gone very thin & whilst in hospital I blocked the patient shower & water was running out of the bathroom all over the ward!! I didn't realise it was due to surgery, I thought it was because I've not eaten properly for months & I was lacking nutrition. I hope you get yours sorted, I'm gonna get some of those tablets that Nicole Sherzinga advertised😫. Well done though luvie, you look fab 👍

    Hiya Amy!! Thank you for the update, I'm currently attending a weight loss management group which means in the next 3 months they will decide if I can have the gastric sleeve on the NHS , if not then I shall be paying to have it done privately. My main question is when you have it done privately do you get the support after ? And for how long if you do. Secondly do you feel hungry just like you did before surgery or is it different now ? X

    • @missaliciawhite3904
      @missaliciawhite3904 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      charlotte moore I knew I wouldn't get mine on the NHS due to the waiting list, so I went privately. If you have your surgery done here in the UK as far as I'm aware all packages come with 2/4 years aftercare. Which is why it costs so much. I had mine done abroad at an amazing clinic, it was significantly less in price and I do have to take care my after care myself, but my dr was amazing when I came home and has requested I have regular bloods done to make sure everything's okay. I would have a dietitian they recommend, but that's had to go on hold for the time been. Hope this helps 😊

    • @charlottemoore8250
      @charlottemoore8250 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MissAlicia White hi thank you for replying to my message !! I need to look into a little more with having it done privately I think! I liv in the south west and the scheme I'm doing at the moment which is a weight management group on the NHS have said it's a 3 month waiting list so I am hoping I can get it done through the NHS! I'm 100% willing to pay if they say no but feel it's worth trying. I'm just so eager to get it done. This scheme is only something they do in my area apparently I think else where it's over a year waiting. Do you mind me asking where you had yours done ? Xx

    • @missaliciawhite3904
      @missaliciawhite3904 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      charlotte moore I was that impatient I didn't even go to my dr, as I knew it would be around about a year, and I really didn't want to wait that long. I know a few people who have had some sort of weight loss surgery on the NHS and they really do make you jump through hoops. I had my surgery at the SurGal Clinic in Brno, Czech Republic. I know going abroad isn't the best option, but a colleague had it done at the same place and recommended them to me. Their UK liaison office is called Oak View Health, was previously called Beautiful Beings, you speak too and book through them. I honestly cannot fault the hospital or the staff, clean, comforting and the nurses were amazing. I can honestly say, I would never have gotten that level of care here at an NHS hospital, like I did there. Plus the price was a winner too. Only difference is the after care you have to do that yourself. Check them out and I hope this helps hun. Also the pictures online really is what it looks like in person.

      MissAlicia White aw thanks so much for your advice !! Haven't really spoken to anyone about it as no one I know really knows at the moment what I'm planning ! I hope it all goes really well for you x

      charlotte moore I hope everything goes well for you too hun. And to be honest I didn't tell anyone until after I booked my appointment and flight. My Mam wasn't very happy with me but at 25 she couldn't stop me lol. But now she's okay with it. Good luck hun and let me know how everything is hun xx

    for your q and a, i'd love to know how this has affected your menstrual cycle (I'm pre-op and mine is perfect, I've heard so many horror stories about people having their period for weeks or it playing up due to VSG) and I'm curious as to how this has affected your sex drive- I've heard of females losing their desire to have sex while many males I've spoken to have experienced a higher sex drive than before.. ugh!

    • @mrsamyfarquhar
      @mrsamyfarquhar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +claudia Hi Claudia. I have previously addressed your question relating to sex the last time you asked, so please have a read of that! Also, it hasn't effected my menstrual cycle in any way and I have not heard anything like you have mentioned before. I don't see how it would effect it? These are all things you really should have checked out and researched before you booked surgery, if they are of that much of a concern to you. I hope you enjoyed the video ☺️
