Perhaps mail-order? Other vintage service & repair shops missing from local communities include typewriter, AM/FM transistor radio, watch & clock, and electric razors, to name a few. When e-cameras dawned and film camera repair shops disappeared that afternoon, just when I needed an old film camera and lens repaired. I found skilled camera repair craftsmen around the country willing to repair at reasonable prices.

Agreed.. $120 is way to cheap for a complete rewelting which can take up to 2 hours alone.. along with the material costs that job should not be less than $200-$250...great craftsmenship.. I wonder what they actually got for that job.... Show business is show business but reality is reality.
I believe Beethoven composed this fine sonata in the hopes it would provide at some time in the distant future the perfect accompaniment for work boot repair.

Ben Aaron's in Halifax, W. Yorks, sold Army surplus brogues. His bag logo was 'Shoes worth wearing are worth repairing'. I had a pair of brogues (used when I bought them) last 25 years.

RedWing soles : wore my boots 6 years daily before they were worn out. Had vibram soles instead. 2 years and worn out already :(
