Can you tell me the model that’s looked a lot like this boot, toe cap, color the same but it had a padded top collar and a more aggressive/thicker sole?
In Germany we have good shoemakers as well, but the Red Wing Iron Ranger is the most comfortable boot i have. I will "pimp" it with a midsole to make it more durable. Fortunately i have a good old school shoemaker who will do the job. Good channel. Greetings from Germany and sorry for my bad english. It's long time ago i have been in the USA 😅

Weston, THANK YOU for always inserting the history of the shoe and boots. Also, thank you for always trying to be honest and up front on pros and cons of the footwear. I love the videos!
Iron rangers are not cheap here in Switzerland, we pay more than in the US, but it was worth for me the price. Your videos guided me in that buy decision and I never regretted it.
People complain about Iron Ranger comfort, etc. My guess is those fellas have too many boots. Buy the Iron Rangers, (get the right size), WEAR THEM EVERY DAY, break them in, and they just get better and better as the footbed forms. I'm 66 and can work in my concrete floor shop all day in my newer Iron Rangers all day with no issues. This my 3rd pair, and I get 10 years a 2 resoles before I need new boots. I own hunting and hiking boots, but the Rangers are on my feet 6 days a week the rest of the year. Badass boots.
I bought these (in smooth, black leather) as my first pair of boots a few months ago. I was hesitant dropping this much on footwear, it was my first time paying more than probably $80 for anything I’d put on my feet and I was really skeptical it’d be worth it. That said, they’ve been incredibly functional, comfortable, and good looking boots and I’ve not once regretted my purchase. I’m happy to see that a true professional also has such a positive opinion of them.
@@BruceWayne-xu5bjthey won't. Pick up a pair of kenton cap toe or thursdays if you need a dress-hybrid boot for cheap, and wear the IR for every other occasion
I've had my iron rangers for 10 years now, in rotation with lots of other shoes and boots, and they're still beasts. Original nitrile cork sole is still solid, despite the heels getting pretty rounded. Beautiful patina, fit like a glove.
I have taken both pairs of iron rangers that I own and have had them custom bottomed at Wyatt and Sons. A double midsole with a Vibram Cork bottom and a single mid sole with a Dr Sole Half sole both are substantial improvements in comfort and looks. Love them both ! Great boots. My IR wingtips are my favorites.
I have 2 Grant Stones, 3 Red Wings, 3 Allen Edmonds, Tecovas and two Thursday’s, I can say that my Iron Rangers are my favorites. Amazing boots. Worth every nickel.
I purchased my first pair of iron rangers about two weeks ago. They were probably twice as much as I’ve ever spent on boots but in all honesty they really feel worth it. I would strongly recommend going to a shop and trying them on rather than just buying on line. The guys in Red Wing London were quite happy for me to try lots of boots to find the perfect fit. The ones purchased feel like they were custom made. If you can appreciate well made classic design these are right up your street.
I also purchased my first pair of Iron Rangers about 2 weeks ago in London! Totally wild, loving my boots so far and really putting them through their paces. Big up to the people working at the London store, truly helpful with making a good decision on boots.
The original Iron Ranger video was what led me to this channel back around April 2020(I think). I was looking in to buying my first pair of nicer boots and Iron Rangers were on the top of my list so I turned to TH-cam for reviews. Low and behold there was your video, which not only gave me the confidence to pull the trigger on buying the pair, but it gave me an addiction to your videos that I still haven't shaken all this time later! Awesome to see they're still worth it, and awesome to have watched your channel grow over the years.
I got the Blacksmiths in CRT and I’m still impressed of how well built they feel. I think they’re worth it, but they were a very conscious and informed decision.
@@clintonmccool2330 From time to time they make a run and update their website, I snatched a second pair of blacksmiths CRT like two months or so ago, but they go out of stock fast.
I've had my pair of redwings for over 3 years and they're holding up really well . I own Nick's and White's now but I still use my redwings quite often ( especially when I don't feel like lugging all the weight of those pnw boots around) . Love my iron rangers.
@@taylorsukoshi6126 I already wore Whites and am hoping for a pair of Nicks as well. Recently I got a pair of 8146 as a gift from my wife and am enjoying them. Quality boot at a very good price without the investment of a PNW boot
what size iron rangers do you wear, and what size are you in Nick's? I'd love a pair of Nick's but waiting 30 weeks for a custom boot to not fit perfectly is a little scary to me. I'm on the east coast and have no way to try on a pair before ordering.
I’ve had my Iron Rangers for a decade. They have definitely held up, and I still have the original soles on them. I wear them in rotation, but they are on my feet for seven eight hour days. They are also my go to boots when I am working around my house. I have Wescos, Whites, and Truman boots. The Iron Rangers have proved to be just as tough.
I don’t understand how you guys get so much lifespan out of them. I just walked though my second pair of iron rangers, bought them in May and wore them almost everyday working 50-60 hours a week doing hvac service/install. Sole stitching on both sides of the “ball” area of the soles is worn away and the sole is starting to separate. I spend a lot of time crouched/squatted/duck walking which I know contributes to the wear, but I can’t buy another pair after this second one has gone so quickly.
@misfitpilgrim7967 I wear mine 50 to 60 hours a week doing pest control. I'm bending, stooping, climbing, and sometimes crawling with them on. I have had mine for about 2 years give or take. I'm thinking about having them re soled next year. Hands down toughest boot I've put on my feet.
@@brandonross4742 glad to hear you are getting better results. I’m going to get my pair resoled and keep them as a casual “around town” boot and see how these heavy lugged thousand mile boots do for work.
I'd been planning on getting a pair of African Rangers ever since they were first announced once one of my current pairs of boots wore out. Seeing this extra special version made me decide to get them now. It's not like they will go bad if I get them earlier than expected ;-) Thanks for introducing me to the brand Rose Anvil, and thanks Jim Green for being a product I can feel good about buying
Love your videos, Weston, and the humbleness of your presentation. I own a pair Iron Rangers and a pair of 1907s. The IRs are the least comfortable after break in of the 1907s. I owned two other pairs of IRs but donated them to charity because of QC issues. I respect that the IRs are well-built for the price, but wearing higher priced boots make my feet and my head feel better. My Red Wings have become my choice for manual labor, which I make every effort to avoid.
It's encouraging to see them are still being built the same. I have a pair of 8111 seconds and even though they are a little narrow, I love them (I just wear them with thin Darn Tough socks). The leather is fantastic.
I bought Iron rangers 8085 a year ago in Red wing shoes Vienna and I am extremely satisfied with them, I am always happy with them and the longer I wear them, the better they look... I love them
I've had a pair of the Amber Harness Iron Rangers since 2016, and they're still going strong! When I first got them I wasn't really aware of proper leather boot care and wore them every day for over 6 months through rain and all sorts of conditions hiking too. The heels started coming un-tacked due to the rand disintegrating. A local cobbler was able to replace the rand and heels. The insole also started curling up around the toes. I later had a full bottom down rework done on them, new insole, V100 lug sole with a leather midsole and storm welt and they are fantastic. My go-to harsh weather boot. I now use cedar shoe trees with them and let them dry out if they get wet.
Got my Iron Rangers a month ago. Use them as work boots in commercial construction. Got them on my feet for at least 14 hours a day. Absolutely love them.
I’ve had my Iron Ranger 8085s for a little over a year, and have taken them on many 15 mile off trail hikes and love them, the only thing I’d have to say is they are slick on big rocks or snow, once I resolve them I will have the v-100 outsole put on for sure.
I bought my first pair of Iron Rangers in part because of this channel. My heart though lies with the Chelsea boot. I Now have around 9 pairs of R.M Williams.
I love my iron rangers! Weston's original review convinced me to go out and get a pair and I'm so glad I did. I've been wearing them daily for the past 4 months and I love that they are wearing in and not wearing out. Which is a very different experience compared to every other show I've ever worn!
Bought my Rangers back in May and they've been my work daily drivers ever since. My job isn't physically demanding but it is all-weather, and they've taken everything I've thrown at them like a champ, including winter ice, slush and salt. Absolutely worth the price; so much that I'm considering a second pair.
I would love to see some contemporary Red Wing work boots (not heritage) cut in half. Especially those with Supersole 1.0 & permanent Poron insole like the 2233, 953, 2245, 1105, 2231. Those have been a staple for the last few decades. Maybe not as sylist as the heritage boots, but more likely to be bought for work.
Just bought a pair! I've had cowboy boots all my life, and love them. In AZ, every thing has stickers or spines! And snakes and scorpions, But love my Red wings, Rust colored, I've never spent $350.00 on a pair of boots. But I rally like them, I'm going through the break in process, the leather is so thick and real! I've already got a blister on my right foot. Gave it a break for 5 days, then started wearing them again, put a cloth bandage over blister area! I can tell their going to be the best boots I've ever owned. Once they get broke in, and their made in America. And I'm a US navy, gunnersmate, and I'm proud to wear them! Thankyou, Red Wing, and all the people that work their!
I've had mine for a year and I'm happy. The first pair I had, had some weird manufacturing defect where one outsole had taller lugs so every step I took was uneven. The store manager exchanged them for me and the current pair is much better. Took about 4 months to break in and my right foot must be a bit funky compared to my left because the right boot felt a bit tight at first, but after break in, feels much better.
@@bossman4799 I have wide flat feet. So EE are what I have to wear. That, and check what size you are for that one foot alone, and get a pair with that size. The other might be a bit loose, but it's FAR more comfortable.
I absolutely love my Iron Rangers, I've been wearing this pair pushing 1 year and they have broken in so nicely and I continue to love them more and more over time. Of course they were very uncomfortable the first couple weeks but after the break in time they become glove like and it's a boot I feel proud to wear, I can dress the up or down which is another plus
I've owned my iron rangers for 6 months. Most comfortable boots out of the box I have ever owned. Never a blister and no break-in period. I wear them 10,000 steps a day. I can't say the same thing for my mock toe red wings! They have never been real comfortable to me.
I brought mine in Feb 24, now in Aug 24 they're getting some comfort to them with general wear (most weekends and days off). The biggest bastard of a boot I've ever had to break in, but I love them to death both in looks and now feel as well, fit like a glove.
Bought the Copper Rangers 3 years ago and wear them as work boots 12-14 hours a day. Sole spit off this spring time for a re sole. Just bought another set but in the Amber harness leather. Sized down a 1/2 size this time and the fit is perfect. Love these boots! Actually tough as nails
I've used my iron rangers HARD working on the gravel train and a lot of the time the boot being wet, Broke them in a week or two wearing them for 10 hour days and they are very comfortable still. The sole did wear faster then I expected but I think that is from wearing on gravel constantly. The only thing that has happened was the front goodyear welt is kicked up a little due to me kicking something and I think the front of the sole has started to come up a tiny bit due to me being around water alot. So this is a review from someone who used them for work and did not baby them wich seems to be rare with these for some reason.
I just got a pair of Iron Rangers and I'm blown away by the quality of these boots! Love your channel, so much helpful information I can use! I just subscribed!
Had mine since 2015. Resoled once and still in great shape. Got another 5 years in them. The tongue is the only thing that is wearing down from the upper lace hooks.
You should cut a pair of Urban Shepherd Boots in half. They where made in Portugal by a small company and the cost arround 200$ Anyways, keep up your great work.
Ive been wearing iron rangers for about six months straight right now, eight hours a day walking on my feet inside. So far they've actually exceeded my expectations, the only downside to these boots so far is that they are COLD. Do not expect to wear these outside below freezing all day. Even if you're only outside for a few hours you'll need some thermal socks. They are surprisingly good in snow and slush and even ice. The other thing I will say is that I found a lot of the youtubers underselling the break in period. These take about 160 hours to fully break in, anyone telling you 40 hours is full of it. After a month or so, they actually get quite comfortable.
@@TheTurpin1234 I wore them everyday from when I purchased them. Took about a month of 8 hour workdays. After three days you won't even have the leather insole forming to your foot.
My blacksmiths, which are the same last, took about 4 months of daily wear to finally break in completely, however they were slightly narrow for my feet.
I adore my 8111 Iron Rangers. The mid sole (or lack there of) as you mentioned, leaves a lot to be desired. I think another layer of veg tanned leather would be awesome and bring the value of the boot higher. That aside I think the boot is fantastic and I would definitely buy another pair.
I recently purchased the Iron Ranger 8111 amber harness finally. I am impressed, a really nice boot that fits my foot very well. Although the boot is still a little stiff, I find it to be a comfortable boots that is slightly snug without being tight or pinching the foot. I am liking the Redwing #8 last. I was also surprised that it is lighter in weight than I thought it would be.
Its nice to see companies still trying to make an effort in producing a quality product. As a non-american the MITUSA is not that important, aside from knowing that its not underpaid (child)labor, but I appreciate quality and dont mind paying for it. And for that I have just bought myself my first Iron Rangers yesterday :-)
I just picked up this exact model today IN Red Wing, MN. TH-cam never sleeps and suggested this video🤫... Red Wing is already discontinuing the Slate Muleskinner. Really sweet in person, I love them. How can you not feel rugged in something called Muleskinner Iron Ranger😚? Though I perish the thought of working in them, lol. Great video as always! I have a weak stomach for seeing boots slaughtered kind of like watching a rocker obliterate a beautiful axe. But life goes on🥲...
I have all four Iron Rangers that come in wide for myself, and purchased in a half size larger the slate muleskinners. Unfortunately they were still too tight, so my son got them instead. I feel like they really are the best boot one step below the PNW boots and with the cobblers around the world who will resole or even recraft, they are probably the best heritage brand model in their niche. That being said, I think a lot of newcomer brands like Grant Stone provide a lot of the other styles with similar level of quality and rebuildability for long life. Thanks for the videos of all the brands you've done, they help making informed purchases easy!
Wasn't aware of a second channel. Subbed and on board it's also another clever way of spreading the word. Had no idea these boots were so well made and cost a premium. Good luck to all the humans that enter!
I got my first pair in 2021, during the break in period it stripped the flesh from the knuckle of my big toe. Now it's softened up, I find it my most comfortable boot.
After two months on order, I finally got my first pair last night. I'm used to wearing Docs for work (professional chef/owner), and the Docs are perfect for the kitchen since I can trash them with little worry, and it looks clean when I am in the front of house. Even without the rangers not broken in, the fit is night and day, especially in the toe box. It took two months because I'm size 6 triple E, with flat arches and narrow heels. Money well spent.
Thank you, nice to re visit a review of the same boots. IMO this will do good for booters like me, and the boot makers, you keep them on the top of their toes. Much love!
I bought my pair of Iron Rangers last month. I fully recommend these boots to everyone. The break in period was not bad at all. Only hotspot was the heel but after one week of wear it was gone.
I owned a pair of Red Wing Blacksmiths for four years. They were my go-to boot for everything but hunting and my job as my job requires safety toe. I have NEVER had a pair of every day boots last that long. All I ever did was clean and oil them every two weeks or so. I'm absolutely sold on Red Wing and now that the supply problem is over I'll be purchasing another pair of Blacksmiths soon.
I just bought a pair of Iron Rangers about a month ago now and I love them. Never thought I'd be that guy who loves his boots but I am. I also just got one of your wallets Weston. You are invaluable. Thank you!
I have had about 4-5 pairs of iron rangers over the years. Currently only have two left. The Amber Harness and Black. Still some of my favorites to this day. Considering they were my first pair of "real" boots. Glad to see they're still constructing the boots with the same quality materials they have been using. Lately I've moved on to the PNW brands. First pair was Nicks Builder Pros. Next was JK OT boots. Just got my second pair of Builder Pros in. And waiting on a pair of Superdutys and Forefronts from JK as well.
I’ve had my ox blood rangers for a few years now. In my opinion they are by far the best boot I have ever had and would highly recommend them to anyone.
I've worn them for years. My biggest complaint is the vamp liner. I wish they would make the liner some type of leather, but they are a little cooler in the summer time though so I guess that could be the trade off.
I absolutely love my Iron Rangers. I've had my pair for 2 to 3 years and wear them 5 to 6 days a week for work! They wear like but are truly some of the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I will be getting them re soled and a new pair. I truly love them that much.
I bought some Iron Rangers recently. They are currently my favorite boot. Getting more and more comfortable each day. They are high enough that I need to buy more socks that are longer. I also like Allen Edmonds shoes and boots.
Have 2 pairs , copper and amber. I only bought the second pair cause I sent my 3yr old pair to get the soles replaced with rubber lugged soles for more grip working in wet conditions. I would go through cheap (120 -150 ) work boots every 6 months , so I'm happy I have boots that last so long and can be resoled.
I’ve had mine for a little over a year now. They’ve stood up to everything I can throw at them on the shipping dock. Solid boot and I would buy them again.
I was at a RedWing dealer a few days ago. Went to look at lower cut leather boots and liked these enough to get a pair. Now, my wife wants to try a pair on.
I have the RW 10875 and they fit like a glove and feel like a sneakers on my feet after being broken in. I have the Nicks Outlander which are very heavy. Need to get a pair of Iron Rangers. Everyone I know who has them love them.
I have the Red Wing Chelsea Ranchers and can definitely confirm that the uncovered stitches in the back are a wear spot. However, it took 5 winter seasons to wear through the thread. So it is still durable. But a counter cover would be even better.
And those stitches can be reached and replaced by the owner. I'm a big fan of anything that can be properly repaired. Fed up of cheap tat. Buy once, buy well. I'm adding a pair of Chelsea Ranchers to my collection, it's almost impossible to find actual shank supported hand made Chelsea boots for under a grand in the UK these days most under 500 are either formal Chelsea boots for suit wear or glorified sneakers. I bought 5 pairs of Doc Martens steel toe capped safety Chelsea boots for my employees 3 years ago, they were expensive, uncomfortable and because they have no shank, gave no actual support when on your feet for a whole day, my company were Gas well roundabouts. I moved onto Solovair safety boots, which of course are what Docs used to be. But I think a pair of Red Wing Chelsea Ranchers for the boss might be the ticket! 😊
I’ve had the black harness Iron Rangers for 3 years now. I had the mini lug sole changed out to a Vibram v-100 lug sole. They fit like an old glove at this point. A little conditioner and a brush here and there and they still look as great as when I got them and can see them lasting for years still. So, when taking that into consideration I feel that they’re a good value. Thanks for the great reviews as always!
My dad bought me a pair of Red Wings Rangers to wear quail hunting with him when I was in Jr High (late 70’s). He bought them too big so I’d grow into them 😂. His only instruction was to use mink oil liberally/often and clean when they got muddy, which is the only way I’ve cared for them since. I don’t know many pair I’ve owned over the years, but it’s a lot. I’ve resoled several pair but usually buy another pair after the resole wears out. I only wear while hunting or working on the farm or ranch these days. I’ve NEVER had an issue and they’re surprisingly comfortable for work boots. Over 45 years later, I’ll keep buying Red Wings.
I bought a pair of iron rangers in 2017. I wore them 3-5 days a week for about 3 years. They are still in great shape and get worn about 1 time a week now. They are so comfortable and worn in to my foot it’s amazing. When I got them they were only $279, at the current price I still think they are absolutely worth it. A similar boot from nicks would cost you $600 and honestly that seems a little over priced to me. I’ll stick with nicks for my work boots but will probably get another pair of iron rangers as a dress boot.
Just got my first pair of them. They are perfect. Mink oiled them and they were absolutely perfect right from the start. You can really see how much better they are than the 150 dollar ish boots. I will get another pair before these need refurbished and rotate them, for the rest of my life. They are worth every nickel.
I do agree that the IR should have a 1-1.5 mm leather midsole and the rand should be leather. I think the IR would be a little more comfortable. The IR should also have a little more arch support also. Other than that, it is a great boot. Once the sole wears out, one could always resole and add the leather midsole and rand and a little more arch support.
I totally agree. Why doesn't Red Wing incorporate all the comfortable features into all their boots? I see comments here saying IR is comfortable. To me, the bottom is as hard as walking barefoot on concrete without an extra insole. I stopped bringing my IR to vacations due to its weight and uncomfortable. Also, people here are happy the IR didn't cut corners in the production year. Are they satisfied there are little improvements? The only improvement on the IR is the Vibram outsole which my old pairs of IR don't have. I think Red Wing should do more for their IR line for IR to be 'perfect'.
@@Lawpat1 agree. Add a leather midsole with cork. Add a little more instep volume for an insole. A little more arch support. Then things would be great. You could always change soles when a resole is needed. My IR’s are definitely more comfortable as the break in continues on.
I’m glad to see someone taking redwing to task by actually deep diving and seeing if RW is cutting corners. I see a lot of posts of people saying they are, but to see someone actually show evidence, and to prove that in fact for now RW is keeping to their original design.
Using my Iron Rangers since 3 years for motorcycling. After all this time and around 35.000km of motorcycling, travelling over three continents and walking A LOT (even high mountains in Mexico) and riding horses, they still look like new. But I clean them once per month.
I've worn some of the best boots made: Wesco, White's, Tricker's, Crockett &Jones, Alden, etc, and I always come back to the Iron Ranger as my most comfortable, basic, everyday wear. I'm wearing my copper rough n' tough Rangers now...
They’re are worth the price to me. I’ve been asked several times on both of my IR what brand of boots they are. A guy was admiring them and said my boots look sturdy and expensive.
Had Rd wing shoes in the past, recently bought a new iron ranger, recently manufactured according to the label. The leather insole is of inferior quality. I dont know if the EE boots use an other material, but its way softer and of a lighter colour than the oldr vegetable insole. It is still quite thick, but it compresses way more compared to the old one. My problem is now that I have a deep footprint in the insoles after around 5 weeks of wear and due to the unnecessary thick layer of cork the sides where the geming is glued and the leather tucked under are more prominent which makes the boots uncomfortable. Moreover the right boot feels tighter than the left and creases weirdly, although my feet are not that much different (measured them in many dimensions). A big reason for strange fitting issue is that the toe caps are often sewed on differently, on my example the right one is longer than the left one, which is enough that it affects the flex point of the shoe and makes walking feel werid once broken in.
I've had my 8111 AH for 6 years now. And I still keep them nicely polished at all times and oh boy do they look nice. I expect them to last for at least another 4 years then I will buy a new pair or get them resoled.
After years of being on the fence I got my first pair of Red Wings. Within 24 hours of buying them you come out with this video. Luckily the conclusion is that I bought awesome shoes that should last me a decade (or more).
I've been hesitant about buying a new pair of IR because I was wondering if they were cutting corners... Now, I feel comfortable making the purchase. Thank you !!
My dad wore Redwings, I’ve worn Redwings for the last 21 years and been through 3 pair with a resole on the first 2 pair. I tried Doc’s and Wolverines and they just don’t stack up. When my sons go to work and quit growing, I’ll outfit em with the same.
I would love to see Red Wing have a leather mid-sole. I just had the soles of my oxblood RW's changed and had a leather mid-sole added, a nice improvement.
I absolutely love mine, and would not trade them for anything. It’s the first pair of 300+ dollar boots that I have owned and I am not disappointed. For those who think it’s a lot of money, it is, but you were getting what you pay for and I will never go back to any other type of boot unless it’s a redwing heritage boot.

Mine are very comfortable.
Which sole do you prefer? The newer Vibram or the old cork one? What is your advice about the sizing? Greetings from Germany
I was looking to get the same ones. Have you tried them in dress slacks? You think they’d work for that?
@@BruceWayne-xu5bjthey won't. Pick up a pair of kenton cap toe or thursdays if you need a dress-hybrid boot for cheap, and wear the IR for every other occasion
I've had my iron rangers for 10 years now, in rotation with lots of other shoes and boots, and they're still beasts. Original nitrile cork sole is still solid, despite the heels getting pretty rounded. Beautiful patina, fit like a glove.
Yup I still have mine exactly what you're talking about. They are 15 years old and they're holding up beautifully.
Add me to that list!
@@DB-qm4jx 15 years? What about the heels? Did you replace them? I’ve been wearing my 8085 for 2 years and the heels kinda need to be replaced.
@@dimitrimuhammad6315 red wing has a repair program, gotta contact them
I’ve had mine for about 16 months and I think they’re still improving.
Repectfully, it takes a year's, or at least a season's, wear to know if a boot purchase was worth it.
@@semilog643 What do you look for after a year?
The original Iron Ranger video was what led me to this channel back around April 2020(I think). I was looking in to buying my first pair of nicer boots and Iron Rangers were on the top of my list so I turned to TH-cam for reviews. Low and behold there was your video, which not only gave me the confidence to pull the trigger on buying the pair, but it gave me an addiction to your videos that I still haven't shaken all this time later!
Awesome to see they're still worth it, and awesome to have watched your channel grow over the years.
You've actually cost me a great deal of money, since you've convinced me to buy a pair of Nicks, Whites as well.
The Loden Iron ranger crepe sole is the best Iron ranger ever built. If you can find a pair, buy them. The most comfortable boot I've ever worn
I got the Blacksmiths in CRT and I’m still impressed of how well built they feel. I think they’re worth it, but they were a very conscious and informed decision.
@@clintonmccool2330
From time to time they make a run and update their website, I snatched a second pair of blacksmiths CRT like two months or so ago, but they go out of stock fast.

This channel is beyond informative. No brand can hide lower quality components and corners cut craftsmanship with a simple bandsaw laying around.
I've had my pair of redwings for over 3 years and they're holding up really well . I own Nick's and White's now but I still use my redwings quite often ( especially when I don't feel like lugging all the weight of those pnw boots around) . Love my iron rangers.
Same have 7 pairs of various Redwings, have moved onto Nick's and John Lofgren, but my 877s and 8111s still make it into my rotation.
@@millenialmemoirsyeah, you are wearing them much harder than I wear my Iron Rangers. It’s unfortunate they aren’t holding up for you.
It's not like they will go bad if I get them earlier than expected ;-)
Thanks for introducing me to the brand Rose Anvil, and thanks Jim Green for being a product I can feel good about buying
Just found a lightly used pair for $70. Happily paid the $20 for shipping
Can’t wait to see how it holds up

I love my iron rangers! Weston's original review convinced me to go out and get a pair and I'm so glad I did. I've been wearing them daily for the past 4 months and I love that they are wearing in and not wearing out. Which is a very different experience compared to every other show I've ever worn!
Bought my Rangers back in May and they've been my work daily drivers ever since. My job isn't physically demanding but it is all-weather, and they've taken everything I've thrown at them like a champ, including winter ice, slush and salt.
Absolutely worth the price; so much that I'm considering a second pair.
I have mine for about 14 years now and still they are doing great. Did one resole
And snakes and scorpions, But love my Red wings,
Rust colored, I've never spent $350.00 on a pair of boots.
As a South African, who lives about 50km from Jim Green's current premises, I am so happy to see Jim Green sponsoring this video
I've had that problem with boots in general. My right foot is weird when it comes to wearing in boots. Do you perhaps wear EE shoes?
Sometimes it's your foot arches. My right foot has a higher arch than my left foot. It's more noticeable with high tops or boots.
It's quite normal to have one foot slightly larger than the other, so always remember to fit your shoes to the bigger one.
@@TheDragonGamerTV Not usually but I might try that for a future pair of Iron Rangers.
@@bossman4799 I have wide flat feet. So EE are what I have to wear. That, and check what size you are for that one foot alone, and get a pair with that size. The other might be a bit loose, but it's FAR more comfortable.
Mine are 1 hour new. Breaking them in this week. I went with the amber so I can buff them up nice. Thanks for all you do.
Just bought my first pair of IR 8085. Surprisingly comfortable out the box.
Bought a pair last October and they’re my favorite boot so far. Very comfortable after being broken in.
I have 2 pair of iron ranger, love them. Half size down wide
I absolutely love my IRs. Had them for 4 years, and they look better and become more comfortable over time. I love them.
Had mine since 2015. Resoled once and still in great shape. Got another 5 years in them. The tongue is the only thing that is wearing down from the upper lace hooks.
You should cut a pair of Urban Shepherd Boots in half. They where made in Portugal by a small company and the cost arround 200$
Anyways, keep up your great work.
I was wearing mine full time after 3 days lol. Break in period can definately varry.
Same boat here! 5 months old, about 40 miles a week on the boots. It took a solid 2 months to really feel broken in. Love my pair
Still waiting on my to break in 😭
I adore my 8111 Iron Rangers.
I'm wearing mine right now. Still to this day haven't seen anyone else in the UK with a pair.
I'm sure you're out there!
I own a pair of the 8606 ivory ones. And I absolutely love them, I have had them for 2 years or so and I always get a compliment when I wear them.
Thanks for the review! Hoping these will restock again soon so I can pick up a pair! 🤞
I’ve had my brown ones for 3 years now, thought I wouldn’t need another pair since they’re still in great condition but this grey color looks awesome.
I’ve got two pairs of Iron Rangers and one Blacksmith. They are great!!
I think they would be better if they had another couple of layers of leather in the mid sole
Love that style of Boot !
So classic going back decades !
Like yourself. Sticking to heritage. Continue to put together a great video that doesn't meander around, gives the points, and love the history.
It's good to know my Iron Rangers purchased this year is the same quality as previous ones
I got my pair of 8111s back in 2015 and all I can say is that they have aged like fine wine. And yes the heel stitching does wear out over time.
Bought these muleskinners a few weeks back and really like them. My second pair of Iron Rangers so they’re doing something right!
Had a pair of iron rangers for a couple of years. Very hard break in but I love these boots.
The inner stitching tore me up at first so I covered areas with moleskin, problem fixed. My favorite most comfortable boot.
