Just wanted to give them a major shout out because I have such an affinity for how gorgeous the instruments are crafted - a true art! I've wanted to do this video ever since I finished reading Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller!! It was really challenging and fun to write something in the Bronze Age / Trojan War timeline - there are a ton of historical conflicts / interpretations / etc. - so this is just my take on it!
I also would highly recommend Trojan War: The Podcast :) It's a retelling of events before and after the Iliad, encompassing the entire Trojan War and understanding what happened!

As a history major who's absolutely OBSESSED with ancient greece. (well, and also Song Of Achilles is my favorite book of all time along with Circe) and tbh its so impressive that you actually got a lyre and stuck to the original version of the story in the Iliad as well as the details in the Song Of Achilles. 5:20 for those not that familiar with _Iliad_ and greek mythology at all: Agamemnon had to sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia, otherwise the greek fleet could not have sailed to Troja.

Fun fact: The name for the Myrmidons (Achilles's army) comes from the Greek word for "Ant". They were the original Ant-Men. Paul Rudd was 3000 years late.
That's true and they came from an island near to Athens called Aegina
The myth is that the Mrymidons were a people destroyed and reconstituted from the industrious ants of the island. They were reknowned in mythical antiquity for their steadfast devotion to duty.

Gibi, the fact that you got a real cool looking lyre from a company in Greece, then took lessons from their online lyre academy courses to learn legitimate ancient Greek melodies to play on it and make this roleplay video feel as real as possible, well, is truly amazing 😀, it really shows how much effort you always put into these realistic roleplay videos, which makes them so good to watch, all the research, scripts, acting, sets, lighting, props, costumes and hairstyles, green-screen backgrounds, editing (thank you Vest 😊), everything, very well done, and as always, thank you, I'm glad your love for Hades and passion for ancient Greek story and mythology led to this 😌, the lyre sounded so relaxing.

I experienced ASMR for the first time 40 or so years ago but now I’m glad there is a name for it, and I know I’m not alone. I always got chills and euphoria when I went on old house tours with my Dad and listened to the tour guides. I sought for many years ways to experience that rehearsed and quiet patter.
If you could- a green screen historic home tour would be so amazing for me and I hope for others as well.

Wow this is a whole new level of immersion and I love it. I finished Song of Achilles a few weeks ago and was sad for it to end but this feels like the story is still ongoing. So much work was put into this! Fantastic job!
This is a really good representation of the medical technology of the Ancient Greece, back when the Trojan war occurred. Another excellent and calming video, great job.
This vid makes me realize how real these people are and how they interacted or at least how it felt. They interacted in the same way we do today, just not in the same society. It's so cool to visualize what it was like, but to feel it by senses; the smell of the grassy air with a hint of various smells coming from the medicine of their time, mabye the smell of u, I mean you did come from battle. But also the scent of the doctor or nurse, mabye a light breeze blowing through the openings in the tent, grazing across your skin. Mabye the taste of bitter from the medicine, but not a medicine you are used to. It's so real and something that literally happened between to individuals, someone have a life and another had one too but separate from the other until this moment and then whatever after, manye they become friends, mabye they never sew each other again, mabye the soldier stays for a few days to heal properly, who knows. But it did happen.

I'm having fun identifying how much is from 'The Iliad' and how much is The Song of Achilles and it's so much fun. I would love more historical stuff! If you like historical fantasy I also recommend Circe by the same author, and The Merlin Trilogy by Mary Stewart if you like pseudo-historical Arthurian stuff that'll break your heart from how sweet everyone is. Merlin also plays the harp.
Also, Dionysus? Risky choice... but I'm sure they all are. The Maenads, man.

Ariadne by Jennifer Saint is another great book that has a similar vibe to Circe!!

Without too many spoilers for either book Circe dismantled sexist men while acknowledging they're often just as much a prisoner of their culture, whereas Ariadne had the one 'nice man' change for seemingly no reason... he just changed his mind. But I can see why people are fond of it!
@@KaiseaWings For me, both books were more about the female spirit and how it is unbroken in a world shaped to tear them down and make them into the villains. That’s what I loved so much about both Ariadne and Circe. They were women exiled by men and in it, found their own power and strength. In fact, I think Ariadne showed great fortitude in the resolution of her story.
As a history lover, this is one of the best ASMR i've have ever seen.

This is LOVELY, and as a harper of over 20 years - you sound GREAT! It's a tricky instrument to make sound full, especially with a one-handled lyre, and you already have some tricks well on their way! Truly truly lovely. This was so fantastic! When you posted asking about the correct terminology for Greeks and those involved with the Trojan War, I knew this would be amazing. Love history ASMR, especially anything related to Greece/Rome. The lyre sounded absolutely divine as well. Lovely work Gibi, as always!
What an absolute masterpiece. In less than 22 minutes, Gibi evoked better immersion, storytelling, and sense of place than most movies accomplish over the span of multiple hours. I was heartbroken when the video ended... I could have enjoyed that for hours. What a gorgeous video.

as a fan of GiBi's Lorelei who misses those uploads , this is the closest match to that character's cadence and delivery. Very slow and soft spoken which is so relaxing. Gibi can totally pass for Greek as well.
