This one is for all my mythology nerds. I hope we all got the therapy we clearly needed as children. lolllll
Okay but for real though, I had a blast brushing up on my Greek Mythology knowledge and every single story referenced in here (right down to the unknown number of children, the pronunciation of Heracles ((Hercules is the Roman equivalent so let's all go fight disney on that one))... and the golden rain) is from that research.
Now for the overly obvious disclaimer that all the Greek gods are hella messed up and I don't support chaining your wife to the sky, driving people to insanity and murder, or generally anything they do at all. 😅 So on that cheery note, rest well friends!

You've captured both Hera's air of world weary spousal exasperation and her casual malevolence beautifully. She evokes both sympathy and fear in equal measure.
I read somewhere that 'the problem started when we decided to name Hera 'jealous' and not name Zeus an 'asshole'. How true. I want a petition for Hera divorcing Zeus and becoming the Goddess of consulting people and helping them out of toxic relationships!! Also, count me in on the 'punching Zeus' operation XD
My main issue is that Hera chose to punish the poor people that Zeus cheated with (AKA forced himself on) rather than Zeus himself
@@moonprincess1992 this is also unacceptable, but I can't have it cancel out the main issue. (Plus, did he force himself on EVERY woman? In the cases the women slept with him willingly, this is also not ok so I don't see why it is so wrong to punish them) A lot of times gods decided not to punish their fellow gods and so they lashed out at the other party. Take Medusa for example. You know the story? She was Athena's priestess and swore eternal chastity. Poseidon wanted her though but when she refused him, he chased her and she ran to Athena's temple, believing that he would respect the sanctuary. But her forced himself on her in the temple, and since Medusa was no more a virgin and broke her oath of chastity, Athena got mad but couldn't punish Poseidon so she turned to Medusa and made her the monster we know. Yes, gods should learn not to be chickens and punish their fellas when they deserve it, but the main issue in the two stories is that
1) Zeus is a cheater, shit man and I don't even have to elaborate on this and
2) Poseidon r*ped Medusa, we are talking about a crime, I can't overlook it and decide to turn my attention on the fact that gods are little chickens with anger issues.
@@yiling-vf1geyea thats only 1 version of medusa and her origin which was wildly out of line with the others. In most versions she was just born a monster. Also im sorry but in no version of classic myths are zeus and hera not both assholes but thats how greek myths are theyre embodiments of nature and nature is cruel af sometimes
The problem is the Zeus is to powerful to really punish so she let's her anger out on his misteresses/victums and children.
I get why she is mad but she directs her fury at the wrong people because she can't direct it at Zeus. And since she is the godess of marriage leaving is not really an option.

This is genuinely a fascinating take on Hera. You do a great job of expressing her rage and fury at Zeus's antics, in a quiet and still way that makes it all the more terrifying. Like, she'll talk to you about touchy subjects, but choose your words carefully.
*Me watching this knowing Hera was Zeus’ sister and that there are layers of things going on with this relationship*

I was wondering if the whole "Heracles" name-meaning tea would be spilled and yup she went there! Zeus really has got a punch or two coming, thank you for not being afraid to treat your audience as mature enough to handle the darkish humour sometimes and you write and play it so well, such a great channel 😂❤⚡

Okay, but cam we talk about the acting here? The facial expressions when we reveal its Zeus we want revenge on are so perfect. The shock, the small smile, the stern expression taking over bc "no, we're not supposed to be too happy about that" it's all so well done!!
I think the best part about this is it’s not exclusive to men or women either. Zeus did have a thing for some dude named Ganymede. So Hera could be helping a wife or a husband. I love the inclusivity as well as the accuracy

This is actually something that Hera would do in mythology
To be fair to Heracles, he did save the Olympians- and by extension Hera- from the Giants during the Gigantomachy so he can't be all that bad!
Not to mention after the Gigantomachy, both Hera and Heracles made amends.
