- An important part of the 'Our future is Māori' campaign was the incorporation of the late Wi Huata composition, 'Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi'. Embodying the tikanga and wairua of Whānau Ora.
The Huata whānau, along with their kapa haka group Kahurangi Māori dance company, performed a powerful rendition of the waiata at Tākitimu Marae, Wairoa, reinforcing the connection between the song, its composer, and the lineage of Whānau Ora.
'Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi' paid homage to Māori identity and encouraged individuals and whānau to embrace their shared culture. The call for unity reflected the Whānau Ora emphasis on collective action for positive outcomes. Filming and recording at Tākitimu Marae honoured Wi Huata and his whānau legacy, and captured the essence of Whānau Ora. It highlights the interconnectedness between cultural identity, well-being, and empowerment.
